the #1 targeted room for incoming recruits with immediate impact upside for 2026 is the defensive line room
delasalle's nemyah telona is a current cal commit but has taken official visits to arizona (gotta good relationship with the poly d-line coach) & arizona state during the past month
bringing in tosh (who is the best college football recruiter on the west coast) will pay immediate dividends in locking down his fellow dls spartan!!
After 12 yards rushing on 26 carries in Big Game, Cal has now fallen behind Stanford to last in the country (#136) in rushing offense and yards per carry. So a lot of room for improvement there.
agreed. even from ur island perch in guam, we both know that's a fact brah
and the only rb commit is a sub 3.0 gpa guy who lives in miami now who wuz declared ineligible for his sr season in los angeles for taking illegal payments from a booster
real talk: the HAPPIEST creatures (which includes them rescue doggy dogs) on planet earth are those surrounded by LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah shocky would luv to see a sooner than later MONSTER offensive line with starting tackles daniel mcmorris & tommy tofi (with the entire tofi fam reunited with shocks getting dad a key to haas pavilion so he can get his shots up in the morning on fall gamedays in berkeley after the quick drive across the bay bridge with the windows rolled up & everybody singing along!!)

Long flights, but my wife and I did make it out to Berkeley for the UNC game. That was fun.
With the right hires at Cal, I am sure The Jet makes a return flight to the Bay Area and our recruiting improves.
https://instagr.am/p/DRA3MKUEoMX john, glad u got the opportunity to experience the magic of cal football in person this season (and the north carolina epic last minute paco ball strip triumph!!), shocky will be on the next flite back to guam again once it builds its 1st world top 100 candidate golf course, luv the food and the beautiful people brah
aloha ke akua!!
as u know the jet is my favorite player of the last decade, the city of oakland needs positive role models/leaders more than ever and jaivian is that young man to become the next mayor while serving his community...honestly think the monster would start tearing up & lose his **** if he sees javona & her lovely family/friends pregame at our first home game in september of 2026 in her block of thomas reserved lower seats overlooking the north end zone!!
⚡️Week 12 Speed Demons: The 5 Fastest Plays in College Football 💨 #ReelSpeed#CFB
and yeah tosh got the relationship with burl to make this happen along with little sis chelsea (who imho is the acc dance/cheer coach of the year now that coach christy at wake forest has moved on to real estate) pushing for the move home
lupoi literally knows hundreds of coaches across the country from his time working at alabama, the national football league & now oregon, tosh will also kill it in nor cal recruiting with his longtime relationships with high school head coaches along with increasing the velocity of the our current monster poly recruiting worldwide!!
cal poly-berkeley=the 9th island=the greatest public university in the world
bbasics, that's a good question & would certainly move things in a more positive direction (lyons really needs to fire the current co athletic ****tards jay & jenny, both bb programs are dead in the water until they're gone) particularly if shocky can somehow evah get over still being so sorry azz butthurt by the derailment of his monster quest to bring a men's basketball national championship to berkeley
shocky is admittedly kinda a drama queen (but don't wear black dresses)#
byeong hun an (65, tied for 25th): ben finished a fantastic 2025 pga season with an en fuego 65 while rolling in an unreal 144 feet of putts today marking his continued improvement on the greens since his fall transition from the sometimes balky broomstick to a more conventional putter, 2026 is gonna be TRANSFORMATIONAL in taking the next step forward!!
james hahn (74, tied for 72nd): hey making the cut at age 44 on the pga tour is a significant achievement!!
look the bears are the most undersized (other than z & charlie) men's team in d1 golf but glad the coaching staff is at least keeping an in person eye on player body/strength development and also making sure that if berridge goes into the scary azz big city from scarsdale he's got some black soap or something
let's be very clear about this, it's gonna take BERKELEY GRADS in all the key internal positions of leadership including berkeley grad tosh lupoi as the next head football coach (which is 95% gonna happen as shocky tole you weeks ago) to save the football program, the athletic department & the university...ex chancellor christ wuz not a berkeley grad & empowered another non berkeley grad general knowlton to amass staggering department financial debt without rightsizing the unsustainable # of sports programs who then hired more non berkeley grads like worthless anti football bureaucrats tom lowry & markeisha everrett while elevating the roles of non berkeley grads current co athletic director ****tards jay larson & jennifer simon-o'neil....this really isn't complicated if ur paying attention in class
and that's why it would be absolutely 100% chancellor malpractice to let non berkeley grads jay & jenny anywhere near the hiring decisions for the next chief financial officer and/or marketing director
cfo: berkeley grad current deputy chief financial officer sierra achin-cryns should be promoted to cfo
marketing director: why would anybody let ******** jay & jenny anywhere near this decision based upon the current abysmal attendance at haas for both the men's & women's programs along with their roles in the hiring of the arrogant & remarkably unqualified prior marketing director markeisha everrett (who is still not surprisingly unemployed)??
rich, it's time to FIRE the unlikeable anti football/basketball obstructionists who have failed by literally every quantifiable metric, what r u waiting for my friend??
letting them handle the marketing director hire is basically signing a death certificate for the basketball programs
the solution for hiring the best possible marketing director would be to enpower a small committee with real world experience/connections to identify the best candidate with a clear preference for someone who is a berkeley grad that gets it & not some dumb ***** from irrelevant low gpa **** schools like lynn college, mount holyoke or minnesota state university
this committee would include: valerie grimaldo, kevin kennedy, roxy bernstein, stephanie tamoya-rivera & shocky
Due to recent coaching changes I will be re-opening my recruitment. Cal will definitely still be a top school tho.
Also while I’m focusing on winning a state championship one last time ,please contact Coach atkins @CoachAtkins_M for all my recruitment inquiries pic.twitter.com/H9mWyPtYQb
as someone who has played all the world top 100 lists since 1997, very interested in receiving today an advance release of the 2023 rankings (ranked every 2 years) which will be publicly released in december
fun fact: my former caddieing (during my stinson beach high school & college berkeley days in my quest to get PAID) home course san francisco golf club is #38, the cal club is #45 while the olympic lake (#96 in the 2021 rankings) drops out of the world top 100, the just completed gil hanse renovation will hopefully add some fun & more strategic options to the design along with eliminating the weird walk to the 8th tee box from the 7th green...also looking forward to playing coore & crenshaw's brambles when it formally opens in 2024, yeah it's just up the hill from my future t-rex yoga studio in yountville
there are 8 new additions to the 2023 rankings:
#68 the lido (not played)...tom doak's replica based upon historical documents in wisconsin of the charles blair mcdonald no longer in existence masterpiece on long island...slim wadie & shocky will be visiting the sand valley resort next june
#76 point hardy (not played)...coore & crensahw design on the clifftops in st lucia
#85 te arai south (not played)...coore & crenshaw design in the sand dunes north of auckland...slim wadie (who has never been to nz) & shocky gotta a february g2c2 (global golf centurion club) new zealand trip which will also include tara iti (ranked#20), tom doak's te arai (north) course & another trip to my favorite resort in the world cape kidnappers
#88 lofoten links (played)...in northern norway (home of the spectacular northern lights in the winter) shocky played a brisk round in the morning, went with my kids to the beach all afternoon, took an evening sofa king nap & then walked another 18 holes teeing off at the stroke of midnight
#95 shanqin bay (played)...this coore & crenshaw gem on the cliffs of hainan island in china is my favorite course in asia, there's nothing even remotely close in terms of greatness
#96 victoria (played)...very cool mackenzie design in melbourne's sand belt region, this clever australian course with spectacular bunkering starts with a downhill drivable par 4 with a million potential strategies
#97 machrihanish (played)...on a remote scottish isle sits arguably the greatest starting 1st hole in golf
#100 royal cinque ports (played)...the low key kinda scruffy english club got wild azz greens with tumultuous undulations
so right now schulzie is a 97 with 3 to go to complete the latest quest
what's your life adventure (and whose gonna accompany you on your journey)?#
the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (and there's a lotta world to see)
#73 childress hall (not played)...shocky just secured an invitation (took 24 hours which is around 23 hours longer than it usually takes for me to get a tee time anywhere on planet earth) with lamps (tara iti & friar's head member) & tommy (o-club member living in seal beach) to finish our 2025 world top 100 lists together on the 18th green of the tom doak design (a gil hanse new build is currently under construction on site) for this uber exclusive pure golf enclave a couple of hours southwest of houston set somewhere in the texas panhandle in the middle of ******* nowhere https://instagr.am/p/DOmUBLzjsXj #84 caprock ranch (played)...spectacular gil hanse design with almost half the holes literally hanging over the cliffs of the snake river canyon in remote western nebraska, don't be looking over the 5,000+ foot drop-off edges if u got vertigo evel knievel!! https://instagr.am/p/DHwYoCiyY4d #89 utrecht de pan (played)...my favorite course in the netherlands, this ROMANTIC ageless beauty colt classic features semi blind shots on many holes to those playing from the wrong side of the fairways...a FUN strategic design that plays firm & fast with a tight routing thru the pine forest an hour outside of amsterdam https://instagr.am/p/DMDPjIwtJTY #98 te arai north (played)...shocks & slim wadie walked a 36 hole day with us both reaching the conclusion that it's very good but not great...would not be surprised if this tom doak designed new zealand seaside test with wild azz greens don't drop out in the 2027 rankings https://instagr.am/p/DRPxVL8E5yg #100 cape wickham (played)...the most underrated course in the world (a legit world 25 course)!!...designed by my guy the talented mike devries (handled the terrific mackenzie restoration of the meadow club) this australian oceanside beauty is one of the windiest sites on planet earth located on king island (rivals kyoto for the best grass fed beef anywhere) a short bumpy flight from melbourne https://instagr.am/p/DN3kCaB4oLK dang, shocky got a NEW course (wut up buc-ee??) to visit to complete the 2025 world top 100 list!!
19. Memorial Park 20. Muirfield 21. Sedgefield 22. Yas links 23. Quail Hollow 24. Caves valley 25. Jumeirah golf estates 26. Pga West 27. Wentworth 28. Yokohama cc 29. Detroit golf club
a tale of 2 cities: an ELITE pga tour player vs arguably the world's #1 architectural afficianando's course rankings of the 34 courses michael played this year
shocky's rankings:
1) north berwick: gil hanse just hired to preserve the original architectural integrity & the encroaching seatides 2) augusta national: the best overnight golf experience in golf!! 3) oakmont: probably more FUN to play as a guest of a member than in the us open 4) royal portrush 5) philly cricket 6) yokohama: best dining options nearby of any course on this list, dom arigato!! 7) sleepy hollow 8) renaissance 9) colonial 10) waialae 11) hilton head: michael, it's called harbour town brah 12) wentworth: would be ranked higher if not for the recent ernie els ruinivation work 13) memorial park 14) detroit golf 15) la quinta 16) torrey pines south: given the pacific ocean site one of the game's biggest wasted architectural opportunities 17) sedgefield 18) quail hollow 19) tpc sawgrass 20) yas links 21) golf de saint nom la breteche 22) tpc scottsdale: 10 minutes from the monster's tree fort, there are 15+ better courses nearby 23) innisbrook copperhead 24) tpc deere run 25) tpc river highlands 26) tpc southwind 27) bay hill 28) pga west 29) caves valley 30) muirfield village: collin morikawa would disagree with this penal architorture ranking 31) delhi: perhaps the noisiest & most narrow course shocky has evah visited 32) jumeiah golf estates 33) vidanta world 34) pga national: ugly azz condos on both sides of many holes
With the recent news about Coach Wilcox, I’m reopening my recruitment & talking with my family about my future. I’ll be watching the Cal situation closely, Cal remains a top option, especially if the defensive staff stays.🥷 @BakerEastonpic.twitter.com/TPm31mWy2Y
good news: the bears finish with clutch plays to advance to 6-1 on the season heading into wednesday's sec battle with auburn (7-0)...naya ojuwku with 10 points & 9 boards in 16 minutes playing time, her pt should be doubled!!
bad news: this team is fundamentally flawed (which is a reflection of the coaching staff) with an unreal 24 turnovers including multiple moving screens (which wuz never properly taught to michelle onyiah during her time in berkeley) against a weak mid major program (the lopes are 1-5)
EXCLUSIVE cal's monster class staff construction update:
make no mistake about it, it's gonna take BERKELEY GRADS like chancellor lyons & ron rivera to ensure that berkeley grad tosh lupoi is entrusted in propelling the future upward trajectory of the cal football program with other BERKELEY GRADS (in shocky's mind fellow marin county native rolo (marin catholic qb1 just like former wildcats qb1/ berkeley grad jared goff) is a honorary berkeley guy with his FUN sense of humour)!!
head coach: TOSH LUPOI is still 95% probability gonna be the california golden bears next head coach (just like shocky tole u several weeks ago), financial details such as the salary pool for coaches/staff is still to be negotiated...the #1 issue is whether or not tosh will immediately join the program or if he will still coach the ducks d in their bowl game...with the december 3rd high school national signing date & the early january 10 day transfer portal window it's absolutely critical that lupoi is 100% full time after this sunday's formal announcement in order to meet with current players, recruits & their families while assembling his staff
sidenote: oregon state has already interviewed it's top 2 finalists brent vingen (montana state head coach) & jamarcus shepard (alabama co offensive coordinator) & is contemplating extending an interview to justin wilcox (close to his lakefront home in couer d'alene idaho which is only accessible by boat) who has expressed interest in the job...it would be in cal's best financial interest for justin to be employed as osu's next head coach as his annual salary would dollar for dollar reduce cal's future buy out expense streams
offensive coordinator: mr hawaii NICK ROLOVICH is the best coach to ensure continuity with ewa beach lefty generational talent qb1 JARON KEAWE SAGAPOLTELE!!
running back coach: the unlikeable/unproductive griffin is gonna be gone with the best replacement option being berkeley grad BURL TOLER while hopefully bringing along JAIVIAN "THE JET" THOMAS to give the bears an outstanding 1-2 punch with KENDRICK RAPHAEL
https://instagr.am/p/CxR2EFILDw- wide receivers coach: the hands of steel wideouts is gonna result in cefalo moving on, former bears standout wr & berkeley grad GEOFF MCARTHUR (a cancer survivor & currently the wr coach at national powerhouse st john bosco) has confirmed to me he's still close with tosh & would be very interested in returning to his alma mater if offered the opportunity...the staff is currently appealing the ncca for another year of eligibility (junior college not starting the eligibility clock) for electric JACOB DE JESUS
https://instagr.am/p/DDCpIauvdtH offensive line coach: season 2 of FAMIKA ANAE relentlessly developing cal's monster offensive line is gonna be ******* epic because he ******* cares, he really ******* cares!!
tight ends coach: haas biz ad grad MIKE SAFFELL is the future head coach in waiting & his developmental work with previously unheralded MASON MINI has been outstanding for an otherwise often underperforming offense
defensive coordinator: will tosh turn over the keys to the 2 current co-defensive coordinators (unlikely) or get more involved in day to day responsibilities or bring in a DC??
defensive line coach: coach browning is operating in a tough environment as the pool of high gpa d-lineman prospects is the lowest of any collegiate position group, what's lupoi gonna do??...regardless of the coach, locking down fellow poly delasalle defensive tackle NEMYAH TELONA is a huge priority for dls grad tosh along with flying to georgia to introduce himself to day 1 impact defensive end CAMRON BROOKS
defensive linebacker coach(s): will the bears d still operate with 2 coaches in vic so'oto and michael bruno??...tosh building a strong relationship with the d's one superstar CADE ULUAVE will be very important in order to field a high level 2026 d from the jump
defensive backs coach(s): TERRENCE BROWN is an elite developer of talent & beloved by his players, locking him down is critical!!
special teams coach: tosh knows berkeley grad (teammate of aaron rodgers)/current green bay packers assistant special teams coach BYRON STORER, is byron ready to give up the nfl & the frozen tundra of level 7 hypothermia wisconsin for his alma mater??
editor's note: doms & wet beef are shocky's sources for this staff update!!
ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE: this is the 9th consecutive post by shocky, he cannot post again unless there is monster reader posts/engagement per the rules of of the bearinsider.com
Shocky, Are you able to share some of the information that lead to your change of opinion regarding Tosh Lupoi? I know family friends of Tosh who believe that Tedford and Barbour played a significant part in his defection to the Huskies, who I believe offered 50% more than Cal's best offer, which was only made by Sandy B. at the 11th hour.
goggles, can u give me a name of a better candidate wr coach??
cade tole me on the field after one of the big game celebrations (obviously not this year) that earning a berkeley degree is really important to him, that it's "a business decision" which is a very mature aware response to the value of attaining a generational wealth building berkeley, stanford or ivy league degree
dumb **** ballers r screwed when they turn 30 years of age with no viable marketplace skills which is gonna only get accentuated with the advances in artificial intelligence creating greater income inequalities across the globe for the increasingly more wealthy educated vs the discarded uneducated
really think cade (who is undersized by prototypical nfl linebacker metrics) is gonna earn his berkeley degree in 2026 & prove to the nfl he can not get injured & stay on the field for an entire season
https://instagr.am/p/DFWqWD7pDHV luv this guy & his fabulous sense of humour, he's everything good about true college student athletes plus he always picks up litter at arches national park!!
sure swan more than happy to provide some context re: shocky's ginormous fliparoo on tosh, jeff tedford tole me he FORGIVES lupoi for his secretive circling back to shaq's house after their in home visit & that tosh is a remarkably passionate/competitive football coach with a massive upside that PLAYS TO WIN!!
tosh, just make sure u express a sincere apology at sunday's press conference, ok??
dang, if jt is good with tosh so is schulzie too!!...and let's be real here, nobody gives 2 ***** wut the expired cal tv "fans" think about anything!!
woof, woof, woof, i cry (working on a project, it's called u!!)#

Cade can go to the NFL and finish his degree later. If he's a day 1 or 2 pick - I repeat IF - then there's no reason to stay at Cal and risk injury. Again, I'd love it if he stays, but the real business decision is chasing a bag in the NFL and then coming back later to finish his degree (if he doesn't create generational wealth in the NFL). I don't view him as undersized, but I could be wrong - it all comes down to the draft grade he gets.
In terms of the WR coach, I can give you a 100 names that are more qualified than McArthur, including Cefalo (who arguably got a raw deal with a late hire). McArthur - who is an all time Cal great - has coached high school and I believe one year of community college. To my knowledge, he has no d-1 experience and is not a known recruiter. That experience/resume doesn't get you a P4 job straight from a high school program - and shouldn't get him one at Cal.
It would be great if he can come as a graduate assistant or consultant (aka a glue/culture addition). But I don't want him as a lead position coach. And just to be clear, I'm not advocating for retaining Cefalo - I'm ambivalent about that though he did seem to be doing well recruiting. He's for sure replaceable.

Cefalo is in no way a great recruiter at the P4 level and beyond DeJesus our WR production has been horrible. There is also a weirdness with the depth chart where slow guys who repeatedly dropped balls keep getting PT and the higher rated backups with speed can make great plays but didnt get more PT.
It is true that McArthur does not have the resume, but he always had great technique, he has the personality to be a great recruiter and motivator, and is from LA, traditionally our best source of WR talent.
goggles, the sad reality is that unfortunately most students who leave school early never actually go back to earn their degrees
cade (who is undersized by nfl scouting metrics) is gonna return in 2026 & get paid a sizable guaranteed (regardless of any potential injury) nil amount comparable to the nfl minimum salary ($840,000) while building up his body (which will be necessary to become a day 1/2 pick, he's missed games every season with injuries) for the nfl combine/draft and finishing his berkeley degree vs taking the unnecessary risk of leaving school early & not getting drafted/cut as a free agent at which point he would just be another ex baller with no college degree working on the loading dock moving boxes & **** at restoration hardware
https://instagr.am/p/CJ09EOxjzFN shocky is not advocating for mcarthur merely pointing out that he is still close to lupoi & that he tole me he would welcome the opportunity to return to his alma mater if the opportunity arises
calalum, the running back & wide receiver rooms have been the most underperforming rooms in the program during the 2026 season, very confident that the extroverted tosh with his oregon, alabama & national football league backround got significant coaching upgrade contacts in mind that can recruit high gpa true student athletes (which griffin & cefalo like harsin have never done during their careers)
on the other hand the introverted wilcox has a much smaller rolodex of assistant coach candidates from his coaching tree which is how you end up with someone like ryan longwell (a similarly aged conservative white guy justin is comfortable drinking beers with while summertime fishing off the deck in coeur d'alene) who basically sent me the message thru other staff members that the ice his veins collin morikawa of placekicking wuz "treated fairly" by him (which is 100% bull**** as a promised scholly wuz reneged upon after earning the starting position) after mateen bhaghani's parents (the vast majority of bearents read this thread daily) reached out to me with their justified concerns of mistreatment by the staff which ultimately cost the bears 3+ games during the 2024 season that characterized the wilcox 9 year era of spectacularly failed special teams
🚨 BREAKING 🚨: Indianapolis Colts CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon has agreed on a 3 year, $67M deal to become the next head coach at Cal, per sources.
Colts S Cam Bynum has also been granted a posthoc extra COVID Year and will likely be following her back to his alma mater in the 2026. pic.twitter.com/2qX3zCo9E2

Recruiting wise Geoff is very clued into the SoCal high school community, and coaches at a HS football power down here. Ready to take be elevated to college level IMO.

Recruiting wise Geoff is very clued into the SoCal high school community, and coaches at a HS football power. Ready to take be elevated to college level IMO.
I went to a spring practice Tosh's first year coaching at Cal. His first couple of drills were horribly organized. He wasted a lot of time. At the time he didn't even have a recruiting record so I thought Tedford just saw something in him and that he was an alum and young. If Mac wants to be here and has the same sort of energy Tosh has/had he may be worth the risk. He certainly has the playing experience and it sounds like he has connections.
goggles, can u give me a name of a better candidate wr coach??
cade tole me on the field after one of the big game celebrations (obviously not this year) that earning a berkeley degree is really important to him, that it's "a business decision" which is a very mature aware response to the value of attaining a generational wealth building berkeley, stanford or ivy league degree
dumb **** ballers r screwed when they turn 30 years of age with no viable marketplace skills which is gonna only get accentuated with the advances in artificial intelligence creating greater income inequalities across the globe for the increasingly more wealthy educated vs the discarded uneducated
really think cade (who is undersized by prototypical nfl linebacker metrics) is gonna earn his berkeley degree in 2026 & prove to the nfl he can not get injured & stay on the field for an entire season
https://instagr.am/p/DFWqWD7pDHV luv this guy & his fabulous sense of humour, he's everything good about true college student athletes plus he always picks up litter at arches national park!!

I think Tosh has learned a few things since running his first drills back in 2008

Do you think he's the best wr coach Cal can hire? Would his name even be mentioned here if he wasn't an alum? Not intending to be harsh, but for me the answer to both those questions is clearly no. Again, I have no problem if he's on staff in role other than a position coach - I'd welcome that.
