I'm in favor of the Pacific/Atlantic Conference, or......the PACC (I doubt the Pac will remain if Cal and stanfurd jump to the ACC, so there should be no conflict in using that name).

It's still the ACC, as in the Atlantic Coast to Coast conference.
I think you missed the point of my comment (in relation to an earlier "recommendation" of a new conference name.) I was simply having some fun in case there ever was a suggestion of adapting a conference name.

I'm well aware it is still the ACC.

At least the ACC doesn't have a number in their name

I still think just making it the American Coastal Conference (or American Coast Conference) and keeping the ACC moniker is the best way to go. They're on the borderline of adding us and the trees anyway so I don't think them feeling like we're changing their traditions or re-writing their history would go over well

I attended Oxford for graduate school, sometimes the British spelling sticks.

and, bruh, I am a younger generation than you, apparently. this isn't the 1920s or the 1970s, nobody says "jive" anymore. lost in your feels is slang for someone that is overly emotional. I can code switch.
With age comes wisdom. You'll learn someday, limey.
Limey? I'm Native American, aka the original people of these lands, I am not British. It is obvious I have more wisdom than you, however. I went to school at Oxford, I did not come from the British isles.

You know, in Native American cultures we distinguish between elders (those that carry our tribes knowledge, culture, and history) and old people. Vast majority of folks will never be elders, just old people trapped in the past complaining. Just sayin, you sound like you live in an old folks home, bruh.

Nobody cares. Take it off topic.

You could be on to something: "Stanfourd"!

Makes about as much sense as "Stanfurd" (which I nevertheless use just take a gratuitous shot when I can, even though I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean). And if it were to catch on, the origin could be traced to this day, in this place, with an explanation so esoteric, you'd have to call "Booth" at the Albany Bowl (or Boston Market) to appreciate it!

I don't know the origins of the "u" in Stanfurd, but in Oxbridge (its what folks call Oxford and Cambridge) they do pronounce Oxford as though it should be spelled Oxfurd. It's their snooty upper class accent.

Yeah, what is with the "bruh" shtick?
how old are you? what did the boomer generation say? "pal"?
"dude" was the 80s. did you complain about people saying "bro" in the 90s and 00's.

its annoying having to explain basic linguistic practices, but here goes...
younger Gen X folks, as well as Millenials and Gen Z now say "bruh". its a colloquialism. we don't say bro, pal, dude, etc. we say "BRUH". it came from the Black community (AAVE) go talk to any of the football players, they can explain it to you.

Interestingly enough, (like the former Pac12), the ACC is filled with massive Olympic sport exposure as well as sports featuring very competitive women's teams like soccer, x-country, tennis, golf, and field hockey.

No. My people predate the colonial settler states political geographies. I'm not Murican nor Mexican. As to the woman you dated, if she was full blooded native, then she was neither American nor Mexican. She would have told you her tribe.

I am indigenous. I am NOT mestizo. The racist Spaniards had this very intricate and absolutely delusional caste system they created with nearly two dozen racial categories (mestizo being one of them) trying to erase African and Indigenous identities. So, no, the racist spaniards delusions about identity don't apply to us. I am indigenous. period. My people define our identity, not colonizers.

did you graduate from Cal?

Affirmative Action doesn't exist in California, son.
What cave were you all living in when Prop 209 was made into law by fragile racist clowns in California in November 1996? They need to figure out how to ban racist bigots. I graduated Cal in 2010. Affirmative Action had nothing to do with me, pumpkin.

Affirmative Action doesn't exist in Oxford, either. you really are so lost in your feels that you are raging.
You can't get into Oxford graduate school unless your undergrad GPA is a 3.7 or better.

the only way you hacks could see Oxford is if you bought a tourist pass. lolol
keep crying, though, your tears taste so good on a hot summers day.

try actually returning to the subject and stop obsessing over that you couldn't get into Oxford for grad school.

I am happy that the Spanish followed a different policy for dealing with the indigenous peoples they met than the English. They married or lived with them and had children that eventually became ME.

The English had a policy of immediate or long-term extermination. Then I would not be here today.

FYI. The indigenous peoples did not live in a paradise of peace and live with other indigenous peoples. Many of them also followed a policy of conquest and extermination.

No way would Cortez have been able to conquer Mexico relying only on Spanish troops, guns, horses and steel. They relied upon the support of Tlascalan and other tribes that had been subjected to subjugation and torture by the Aztecs. They took advantage of the Spanish to revolt against the Aztecs and turn on their masters

Second FYI. Recent archaeological evidence indicates that the indigenous peoples who occupied the Americas when Columbus arrived Were the results of several major waves of immigration coming across the Bering Strait or down the Pacific Coast going back thousands and thousands of years. Long before the Clovis culture of 11,000 BC. (That was once thought to be the earliest evidence of indigenous peoples) They did not live in peace and harmony. But often in violence, conquest, enslavement and extermination. (In other words they were just like us.)

You should start a completely different thread asking indigenous scholars to correct your misinformation.

You are not indigenous. You are a colonial settler, spanish. you admitted it. the language you use as identification proves that. If you were Native you would never call yourself any of those labels. That's basic knowledge. Spaniards sexually assaulting indigenous women is not the weird story you provided of benevolent marriage and child rearing. History debunks all of that colonial saviour fantasy. You obviously have never read any of the letters from the conquistadors relating events, letters in which the conquistadors openly describe their owns genocidal crimes that they perpetrated against indigenous people: rape, child sex trafficking, torture, forced displacement, religious persecution, murder.

Try actually reading Bernardo de Sahagun's works instead of pretending you magically know history because you read the laughable grossly inaccurate fantasies about indigenous people that passes for history in US text books.

Cortez didnt conquer the indigenous, the 100,000 Tlaxcallan warriors conquered the Mexica. They used the invitation given to Cortez to get inside the Mexica defenses. you didn't read history. The tribal elders still recount the events, and scholars know Cortez didn't conquer anybody.

and, no, the Tlaxcallans weren't subjugated by the Mexica. They would not have a standing 100,000 soldier army if they had been subjugated. You really should put down the badly written history books that summarized the weird notions of colonizers.

also, why are you trying to explain your weird colonizer delusions? you are resorting to debunked claims from amateur historians. You have obviously not even read the accounts from the only legitimate historical books of the time, the famous work by Bernardo De Sahagun, La Historia General de las Cosas de Nueva EspaƱa aka The Universial History of the Things of New Spain. You don't know Nahuatl, and you are unfamiliar with the Spanish of the time, but if you have college level Spanish language reading comprehension you should be able to get through the 12 volumes. Not knowing Nahuatl means you won't comprehend a lot, to be honest. I know Nahuatl and my Spanish is advanced so I had no problem reading it.

Bernardo's work is commonly as the Florentine Codex. It is not easy to get your hands on a copy. It costs a few hundred dollars, but if you actually want to learn the real history of the Nahuatl people in that area of Mexico, then it is a worthwhile investment.

also, the history of the Nahuatl people is probably not your history. You do know that the vast majority of Mexicans are NOT descended from the Nahuatl people of the Valley of Mexico, right? So you randomly claiming that history as your own is delusional. Mexico has over a hundred different tribes, and about a third are Nahuatl, and amongst the Nahuatl peoples there were over three dozen Nahuatl tribes of which the Tlaxcallans and Mexica are only two of the Nahuatl peoples. Anyway, good luck studying real history. You have a lot to learn, son.

This really is an interesting thread. I did learn several unique techniques of written communication and rhetoric from our Oxford-educated mestizo:

(1) Accuse everyone else of being "lost in their feels" if they express a sentiment different from yours
(2) Insert a "bruh" or a "son" in your diction, preferably in an attempt to put down the person you're responding to
(3) Accuse others you don't agree with of being "booty tickled" to demonstrate that you have access to Urban Dictionary
(4) If anyone raises a point that you disagree with or dismiss outright, call them "jealous" or a "Becky"
(5) Explain the history of affirmative action at UC, and vehemently deny being the beneficiary of the policy
(6) Wield condescension as a cudgel -- and then act aggrieved that anyone would have the temerity to question you on any topic, ever
(7) When in doubt, conclude with inserting another "bruh" or "son" reference, just to show how cool you are, preferably using it as a way to say "Look at me, I'm young, I never lose any argument, I know the history of all things, and by the way, did I mention that I attended graduate school at Oxford?"

I think this covers a lot of "Introduction to Barca 1." Granted, it's a survey course, but Oxford does award doctoral degree credit for it. Sincerely, Mr. Lost in My Feels, son. Or is that bruh?

It's gotta be a fake right? You couldn't come up with a more over the top caricature of a personality. No way it's a real person.

There are a number of relatively new posters with distinct personalities that I have my suspicions about. We even have an old one returned after decades.
