Cal has an offer. Interesting that he just played at North Texas.

And no offers from Baylor. May have been a Bloesch guy.

I think putting Endries and Grizzell (both walk-ons) on scholarship should be Cal's first priority. Probably will need some NIL for both of them as well.
And our kicker.

Our TE group needs a lot of love and NIL/Scholarships. Mendoza feasted on their ability to get open and make huge YAC numbers.

Vanderbilt Portal Entries (should have no academic problems)

WR Jayden McGowan
McGowan was Vanderbilt's third-leading receiver in 2023, but his contributions in the run game and on kick returns were perhaps even greater. He started all 12 games and had 383 receiving yards, 115 rushing yards of and 461 kick return yards. His lone touchdown came on a kick return.

DE Nate Clifton
A team captain in 2023, Clifton put up 7.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. He was a three-year starter on the defensive line and spent five total years with the program. He is a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.

LB Ethan Barr
Barr announced on Nov. 26 that he would be entering the portal. He was a three-year starter at linebacker for Vanderbilt and a team captain in 2022 and 2023. He is a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.

WR London Humphreys is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to 247Sports.
Humphreys was the Commodores' second-leading receiver as a true freshman with 439 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He averaged 20 yards per catch, the most of anyone with four or more catches.

Kansas State U

Running back Treshaun Ward - This would be a huge get
Ward arrived in Manhattan last spring with plenty of hype and was even tagged Big 12 preseason offensive newcomer of the year in a media poll.He proved his worth, rushing for 643 yards and five touchdowns and catching 17 passes for 129 yards and two more scores. Ward served as an effective complement to Giddens, who ran for 1,075 yards and nine touchdowns and had 28 receptions for 286 yards.Ward was unlikely to unseat Giddens, but given his resume, he easily could become the featured back somewhere else.

Purdue WR Deion Burks
Burks was a bright spot in an overall rough Year 1 for Purdue under Ryan Walters. After hauling in 47 catches for 629 yards and seven touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore, he's leaving the Boilermakers after a 4-8 campaign and should draw quite a bit of portal with multiple remaining seasons of eligibility.

Notre Dame OL Zeke Correll
Correll has been a full-time starter on the interior for a very good Notre Dame offensive line over the last two seasons, and he's seen quite a bit of game action in his five years in South Bend. Veteran, proven offensive linemen rarely hit the transfer portal, so you can bet Correll will be pursued by several top programs.

EDGE: JAHFARI HARVEY, MIAMI
A rush end with 10 1/2 sacks in his career at Miami, Harvey had his best season in 2022 and appears to have some appealing traits as far as quickness off the ball and length to close on the quarterback. The 6-foot-4, 252-pound Harvey also does a nice job dropping into space. A fifth-year redshirt junior with the Hurricanes in 2023, the former Vero Beach (Fla.) High standout has one more year of eligibility remaining.

DB: Phillip Dunnam INDIANA
A safety with instincts, ball production and size at the position, Dunnam has a downhill trigger in the run game and graded out highly in run support as well. The North Miami Beach product's three interceptions and nine pass breakups in 12 games this season make him a coveted player.

Anyone else notice how Georgia was undone in part by key plays from former Bulldogs now on the Alabama team? Obviously Saban's a hypocrite saying that Georgia bought a good team. But it made me wonder how important is it to have that team and family atmosphere. You see it still in some locations.

Saban is also 3-0 versus Kirby in the SEC Championship Game, Georgia was probably looking ahead whereas Bama threw everything into this game and had an edge you usually see in the Bulldogs.

I wonder if we'd try to go after Thor Griffith, DL from Harvard or Joey Slackman, DL from Penn. Gotta think they'd value the academic side a bit more huh? And they won't be far from home being in the ACC and all.
Agree. I like the All-Ivy guys.. My theory is that they are at the least decent, and possibly even good players, with a strong work ethic and the brains to handle a playbook. The theory is that while they might not be superstars, they'll be serviceable at the least and provide extra depth if they don't break into the starting lineup.
I really like to agree with this line of reasoning and thinking but do recall all the times I have been p*ssed at out Bears for "playing stupid" during a game....You can name almost any mistake that can be made in FB and we do our share, all while being "so much smarter". Some, I do like Ivy like players, but not sure the reasoning holds.
didn't one of last year's backup qb's transfer from Penn?

Ryan Glover who started the 2021 game vs. Arizona (due to most of the team being out as a result of COVID exposure), completing 37.9% of his passes for a rating of 65.2.

Yes, Grayson McCall at Costal went to the portal, apparently had ****ty grades so couldn't get into school and then return to Coastal.

Likely Day 1 starter and replacement for KEO. He should be a beast on the interior next to Uluave. Great stsrt for portal pickups. Also random note but 24/7 has us listed as an ACC team for the first time today, even though I kept checking for us under the ACC tab it feels weird…

Big get for Cal. Beast. Local product.

Against Cal a year ago, he had 8 tackles, 5 solo, and a pick. In an upset over Tulsa 2 years ago, he had 8 tackles (4 solo) and another pick.

Jeremiah Earby transferring out surprised me. He had a great true freshman season and even though he took a bit of a step back this year he was pretty much a lock to be a starter next season. Maybe he wasn't a fan of the two db coach setup

Cal does need QB depth I guess but hard to sell guys on being a sure 2nd/3rd stringer.

Cal played 3 qbs this season. There is a very strong possibility that whoever plays QB in 2024 that they could miss some time with injury. Also what exactly is wrong about letting the competition play out. I am less sure that Green (or any portal QB) is a certain backup. I loved what we saw from Mendoza and he should absolutely enter Spring as QB1.

But you need to have competition on your roster. I would be very disappointed if Wilcox and Bloesch just appointed Mendoza as the QB and allowed no competition for the starters role. But sure Mendoza deserves to be QB1 entering Spring.

This will be my favorite guy just because if Cal would have beat out Davis for him out of HS, there would have been a 10 page thread meltdown. Now he a key recruit.

There are hints that he may change positions ('wants to help the team anyway he can') and any potential NFL aspirations may lie. (I have no inside info)

He is very raw as a QB and has to move around if he wants to be on the field.
