Of course their comments have generally been in the vein of "I didn't know you godless commies even liked football"?, but the admiration has been real.
By contrast, Sam thought the Auburn crowd was a "wow"? Child, please. It was fine. But literally not in the same universe as Ohio State or Nebraska. And honestly I don't think even equivalent to what we brought to Notre Dame or Texas just a few short years ago.
I don't know if the "godless commies" instinct towards Cal from opposing fans has increased more in recent times or not. I remember even back during Good Tedford Era, the USC (spit) fans wore T-shirts with the Cal logo doctored to look a bit like the old CCCP sickle and hammer. That was probably the most creative thing those Trojan mensa members ever came up with. I do have a sense though that Berkeley-as-lightning-rod-for-critiques from other parts of the country is as strong now as ever. You could kind of "hear" it in the way the beat writers asked their "questions."
As for Sebasta dropping a "Child, please." Now I've seen it all. And I agree. I believe AU probably had 5-7K in CMS last year, and yet to hear the AU fanbase tell it, you'd think it was 45K. As they might say: "Bless their hearts."
If you want an idea of how auburn people view us, read the comments section below. Cal twitter guy is clearly trolling and the auburn fans clearly couldn't take the hint…..their deep rooted biases just wouldn't allow them to
Can any Auburn fans recommend bars safe for us California liberals? Masks would be nice, NO Trump flags, and ideally has CNN playing instead of the football games.
