Wilcox, you now have 1 last year to prove it. Let's see who we hire as our new AD. 8 to 9 wins keep your job, 10 wins get you a 1 year extension, and anything else you are out.
Yeah, no matter what happens, this is likely the end of Wilcox at Cal after next season. Unless it exceeds expectations and I mean really exceeds them. The new AD will likely want their person on the job. That's pretty common. But who knows? Maybe this thing with Harsin comes together and we end up with a better than average for Wilcox type of defense.
Can someone explain to me why any new AD should have ANY responsibility or say in how the Cal FB program is run now that RR is in charge of Football operations
The AD should focus on non-FB sports
That's a great strategy to get a third rate AD. If that's all this fanbase wants, they could have just kept Knowlton. Accomplished athletic directors aren't coming here to shine Ron Rivera's boots.
The thought that a new athletic director is gonna come in and have no say on who the head coaches of basketball and football would be is preposterous. Maybe the new person won't have the only say, but they'll certainly be a part of the process. The only reason Knowlton got cut out of it was because he had proven how bad he was at being an athletic director.
Shoot for the stars and get an athletic director who is so good that you're glad they're in on the decision.
