Does RR have the authority to hire and fire and/or move personnel into different positions? I thought only the Chancellor or the AD and maybe the Regents had that.

Lisa Wilcox is still working.

You should go tell him that to his face! And while you're there, call our HC your special name for him!
Anybody who did both of those things would have balls for sure!

Hopefully that's not his wife as she should not be put into this.

Tick tock. The clock is still running and Wilsux is still somehow employed as Cal football's head coach.

We are told he has decision making authority over the football coaching personnel as the AD would have previously.

Not sure why you are redundantly keeping time on it?
Rivera has pretty much said he'll base his assessment on the full year. You may disagree, and it could change based on the next two games (my opinion) but that's on the record from Rivera.

I wouldn't ask daily, but clearly it is in part rhetorical. I think he knows it is unlikely to happen on Wednesday.
It is not how I would do it, but I think it is reasonable for fans to say, I don't care if the decision won't happen for a month, I'm going to remind them every day what I think needs to happen until it happens. Cal has a history of not being in touch with the fans even when you hit them over the head with it.

Who is he "reminding"? Are you under the impression that Cal admin is reading Growls and taking head of the postings of an anonymous fan who almost certainly gives little or no $$ to Cal football? His posts are literally doing nothing to change Cal's history of not being in touch.
As you acknowledge, we know that Wilcox will not be fired anytime soon (i.e., closer to the end of the season or after the season). The larger point is that incessant posting "tick tock" or the equivalent adds nothing to this board or the Cal community.

If it does nothing else, it personally helps my sanity to know every effing day that there are others in this community that are like minded and willing to speak out.
Wilcox should have been fired every day since the SDSU game. (well every day for the past 3 years minimum, but I'll take the SDSU game) The fact that we haven't and I don't believe we will doesn't mean I agree with it or that I don't think people should express their opinion daily.
I would remind you that Knowlton wasn't going to fire Wyking until he got screamed at when that became apparent.
I know Ron doesn't read this board. I'm very positive somebody in the AD reads this board. That has actually been pretty obvious on occasion. Other fans read this board. Donors read this board. Hell, if anything Greg reads this board and he is clearly listened to at times. When influential alums wanted to give Ron the keys, in addition to withholding money they posted on this board which probably got others to withhold money. So they must have thought posting here is influential. Spending the next month trying to develop a groundswell so if Rivera doesn't fire him, he gets the Wyking treatment and changes his mind, is valid.
And even if it has zero impact, this is what fan boards are for. You clicked on this thread. You know what it is about. It's not his responsibility to not post because those that don't like to read it just can't help clicking on a thread that is clear in its aims. He could be really annoying and post a new thread every day.
If you wish to start a thread and post every day. "Hooray! Wilcox is still our coach today. Please renew him Ron!" be my guest.
Again, it isn't what I would do, but you know what annoys many of us? Waking up every day with Wilcox still here. That is a little more annoying to many of us than a thread that everyone can choose to click on or not.

That's fair enough, I guess. But if the SDSU massacre wasn't enough to provide RR with information on Wilsux's abilities as a HC, then I'm not sure RR is the right person to be a GM. Being fair to Wilcox is one thing, but it's not the most important thing. Turning Cal into a winning football organization capable of challenging for playoffs and championships is the goal. At a minimum, those two games made it readily apparent that JW isn't the right man for the job. A good leader would've replaced him with someone else who at least shows some potential to do so. For some reason RE sat on his hands, instead of.

Rivera pointed it out early in his hiring he was looking at 8-9 wins this season. Cal wasn't in a complete collapse. Yes it was a very bad loss. They were 3-0 before that game. And they won the next game. Time will tell here shortly, and I'm not advocating for Wilcox, but saying Rivera isn't the right guy to decide is pretty weak. He's been on multiple staffs and has hired and fired multiple coaches in his career. He knows what's at stake and has publicly said Cal has to win. Asking every week why it hasn't happened is a waste of time. The next two weeks should tip the scale, one way or another.

Rivera has never said if he doesn't win 8-9 he's gone. Just like the others never said conference championships or gone. We do not yet know what his standard is.
No other team keeps a coach after SDSU.
