I was talking to my buddy, a Gaints fan. He razzed me and I said at least I experience several WS wins are a kid and youth...sorta like popping the cherry when you're 16 and unlike Gaints fans who didn't pop that cherry until way past 40. He started bitching right then and there, and I said you Gaints fans are now snot nosed Yankee and Red Sox fans.

Popping that WS cherry while a kid...priceless, made me a man and baseball fan. Waiting until way past 40...yeah, okay, my experience was still WAY better. All those years of painful youth and unacquainted love and jacking off in the corner as young baseball fans. I told him it's like the fat chick loses weight, pays for a pair of boobs and then gets the guy...at 40. He hung up...then called back and I reminded him I dated his sister. He hung up again! All in good fun...but he knows who owns who.

I'm glad this desperate rationale makes you feel better on what must be a very difficult day, but it's incredibly flawed in that it assumes that every Giants and Dodgers fan is the same age as you, and experienced things the same as you.

I've lived in San Francisco proper for all three World Series wins - in my late 20's and early 30's. I was able to get tickets to many of the games and watch the others with friends and strangers at my favorite bars. Three times I was able to celebrate a series clincher in person. Two other times I celebrated a World Series win with friends in the streets of my city (the third I was home with my newborn baby).

Did you celebrate those long ago Dodgers titles in the streets of L.A. with friends and strangers? Or, to borrow your crass metaphor, did you celebrate by jacking off by yourself in your room?

Oh man, this is the most tortured argument in favor of a long World Series drought that I have ever read. Love it.

Okay Gaints fans, tell me about YOUR childhood memories as a Gaints fan?

Johnny LeMaster? Dave Kingman...how many WS wins? How many playoff wins? How many winning seasons?

I was a kid in the 80s, so we actually had some pretty good teams with Will Clark, Kevin Mitchell, etc. Didn't win the World Series, but had some very good seasons.

Ah yes, Kevin Mitchell. He of the multiple arrests, including the one when he assaulted his own father. Oh and the rape accusation! What a childhood hero!!

Will the Thrill...putz. Mitchell was great. Neither won anything as Gaints.

So that's it for childhood memories as a Gaints fan? No wonder you poor saps are pricks as winners. Like the fat chick who loses weight and buys tits.

LOL @ Mitchell's Wikipedia listing...

"Mitchell sustained several unusual injuries during his career. He once strained a muscle while vomiting.[9] However, the most infamous of Mitchell's injuries occurred when he broke a tooth eating a frozen chocolate donut that he had put in the microwave too long and that had hardened. The incident is said to have led to Mitchell's needing a root canal, and he was later fitted with a gold tooth as the replacement."

The National League pennant is a thing. Oh, and when they won it it was still more recently than the last time the Dodgers won it.

Nope. Not a Gaints fan. I respect the players who were good. Willie Mays is in fact the greatest baseball player ever. I have absolutely no problem saying that. None what so ever.

I can also say Willie would never be in the majors unless it was for Jackie Robinson. And need I remind you Gaints fans...Mr. Mays, despite his greatness, never won anything as a Gaints.

Mays did win a World Series with the New York Giants.

Now you will say . . . but that wasn't in San Francisco. That's very true. But then again, Jackie Robinson also never played a game for the Los Angeles Dodgers, so invoking his name here is hilariously ironic.

Oh my goodness: Your jealousy is showing and it ain't pretty. Do I wish the Giants had won a WS or two when I was a kid? Sure. You got me man! You just got Giants fans everywhere with that one!

Only two possible ways you "owned" your friend: 1) Him actually hanging up, if he really did. Most people would be like "What else you got?" 2) If his sister was hot.

2010/2012/2014: It is what it is. (and it was what it was, you're right)

Can I buy you a beverage when our Cal Bears get to the Rose Bowl? Somebody will tell us how THEIR team went when they were a student... and when they were in their twenties... and when they were in their thirties. We'll be so happy, we won't give a sh!t! I think some of you guys are missing the big picture. As you get older, it won't matter how long ago, you'll rejoice in the memories regardless. Sure, recency effect will give Giants fans an ego boost, but what if you don't go back for 20 odd years....then you'll know how A's fans feel. But guess what, it will feel like yesterday. I was born in 1957 like many old blues. Grew up in Oakland so became an A's fan immediately in 1967 when A's came to town. Before that, I was a die hard Giants fan in the days when even the players hated each other. I mean, some of you younger guys missed out on Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, Davenport, Alou brothers, Marichal playing against Koufax, Drysadale, Maury Wills, Tommy Davis, Roseboro and Fairly. Back in 1962, I was 5 years old when the S.F. Giants played the New York Yankess. in the World Series. WOW, what a series. All the above mentioned Giants vs Whitey Ford, Ralph Terry, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Elston Howard et al. The Series went to game 7 after each team traded wins with NY winning the last game 1-0.

No matter who you rooted for, now you look back and simply revel in the memories of great games. When I was a kid, the Giants and Dodgers were pretty even and probably the Dodgers won a few more. In 1972-73-74, me and my twin bro got out of school and went to every A's home World Series game and all the night games too. Guys, it seems like yesterday in a way, and no matter if they ever make it back, I'll bask in the glow of 3 in a row and 1989 when those same Giants went down 4 games in a row during the Earthquake series. Just like you Giants guys are pounding your chest now, and rightfully so after winning 3 in 5 years. Awesome achievement, but just remember, you may go next year or you may not go back in your lifetime. When you are my age, you'll think back to these last few years and feel the memories of your youth like yesterday. I promise.....Dodger fans of my age remember those early years in California, and some of those great teams....so sure, the Giants have the recency effect so of course, the trash talking upper hand. Ya never know when that will change.....but I do know they can take every thing away from me except my memories..(barring Alzheimer's, but then it won't matter), and I still smile thinking about spanking the Big Red Machine, those Miracle Mets and awesome Dodgers.

Ok, the ramblings of an Old Blue, so carry on with the trash talking my boys.....and cherish the moments and memories.
