This is Buehler's career high in innings after last year's shortened season. He may be fatigued.

First it was the Brewers, now it's the Cardinals that look like the scariest team in the Central. Wouldn't want to face them in the WC game.

Whatever the reason, Buehler's September ERA is 7.32 through four starts. Ouch!

Farhan exec of the year. Kapler manager of the year. You're welcome Gigantes.

Most pitchers are a bit gassed this time of year. Hell, my arm was toast after my 10 innings on Cal JV. 1980. Look it up.

While both worked in LA, I wouldn't consider either a Dodger-product. Zaidi came up through the Oakland organization and Kapler spent a couple years in Philadelphia learning what not to do.

Regardless, I am happy they are both getting a chance in SF, Zaidi as a #1 decision-maker and Kapler as a guy looking to redeem himself after a rough start to his managerial career.

So far, so good…..

Pitchers who have thrown 170+ innings in the NL…

LA has 3
Phil has 2

No other team has more than one.

Well, the fat lady hasn't sung yet but it looks like the Giants will win the division despite the Dodgers winning 100+ games.

If anyone says they expected that they are a liar!

Congrats to the Giants!

Dodgers postseason is precarious with a matchup against the Cardinals who have been playing baseball as well as anyone. I am pretty sure LA would win a series against the Cards but in one game anything can happen.

I wonder if LA turns to Buehler or Scherzer. Rumors say Scherzer gets the start.

If (still a big if), LA plays in the WC, it will be Wainwright v. Scherzer.

This season reminds me of 1962 when both teams won 101 games and played a 3 game playoff series to determine the NL champion.

A big if? It's rather small.

LA would have to win both remaining while SF would have to lose both...

Down to one! Scherzer versus Wainwright. Dodgers win it in 12.

10 to 9!

More than that even. Giants would have to lose 3 home games in a row. Dodgers would have to win 3 games in a row.

I would just disregard anything 71bear has to say about the giants

If they get to Monday, the Dodgers would be a huge favorite behind Buehler (SF would start Wood). Odds are they won't have a game on Monday but you never know.

So how big is that missed check swing 3rd strike against the Giants now?
Dodgers should be in 1st place by one game.

Dodgers got that one back in a game they won against the Rockies last week. So what?

There are 162 games. I'm sure we can find enough calls like that to cover more than two games for both teams. Quit whining.

Dodgers won a franchise record 106 games and STILL finished second in the division.

That is insane!

I still can't figure out how the Giants did it this year. So many players having more or less career years but to win 107 without anyone hitting .300*, 30 hrs, 100 rbi or any 15 game winners. Has that ever happened?

Will be really interesting to see how they perform in the playoffs. They have a small number of playoff vets, but it's been years since those guys have been under the October lights.

No matter what happens this postseason, proud of this team for not listening to the naysayers and taking it to the league. Hopefully they can keep this thing going next year.

*I suppose Buster hit 300 but he didn't even get enough ABs to qualify for the leaderboard.

Extreme depth. Even down to the last guy on the bench they were all pretty good.

Yeah have to give Farhan a lot of credit. Thank the Dodgers for that I guess.

And he went through the A's as well. So both of the Giants' rivals can be annoyed he's made them so good now.

NL West: The Giants' magical regular season concluded with their first division crown since 2012, ending the Dodgers' eight-year streak.

How it happened: Both teams won big on Sunday, giving San Francisco (107-55) a one-game edge over Los Angeles (106-56).
Wild stat: This is the first time in MLB history that two teams in the same division won at least 105 games. The Giants set a new franchise wins record, while the Dodgers tied theirs."
