I got to see Scherzer up close during my groundscrew years with the Giants. During his start he was in the downstairs portion of the dugouts pacing back and forth in between innings with a bit of mad man glare There was no one around so it wasn't for show. I'm pretty sure everyone who plays and coaches with him loves his attitude but is slightly afraid of him.
As you probably know, Max his one blue eye (right) and one brown eye (left). Dusty Baker*** tells the
story of walking out to the mound to take Scherzer out of a game but the right eye convinced
him to go straight back to the dugout.
***Even though the Astros (most especially Alex Bregman) pissed me and an uncountable number of
other Nats' fans off during the 2019 World Series, I'm rooting for the Astros win it all. Dusty is very, very,
very classy man, and I say that not just because of his strong CAL-connection.
GO BEARS!!!
