Actually the defense hasn't been all that bad. If the offense wasn't falling apart we'd might actually be ahead.
The problem is that we've had too many mistakes on offense.

We lose 3 starters from the line. I suspect it won't be good unless we bring in some JC players.
But that was clear after 2011 and Cal didn't bring in a single JC O-lineman.

He's having to pay too much atentoin to the pass rush.
We need to run quick plays, 3 step drops, screens, sweeps with Bigelow.
But those plays would mean Tedford wouldn't get to run his overly engineered offense.

So bringing back Michalzik to coach the offensive line was supposed to be a good move. This line may be one of the worst in Tedford's tenure. Slow, lack of footwork, weak.

Two rollouts to the right - Maynard has trouble squaring up going that direction in time to make any type of pass.
i don't know why people are so worked up about maynard's play or bigelow's touches (or the lack thereof). with this kind of atrocious OL play, it doesn't matter. we are getting zero running lanes and pathetic pass protection. the only rush yards we're getting are from draw plays where usc is dropping at least 8.
The Bruins were 2-13 on 3rd down and get beaten by the Beavs.

Maynard keeps the ball on a read option when the middle is wide open.
LT gets his arse handed to him by the DE, who pressures Maynard enough that he can't see Treggs wide open down the field.

Well, 5 minutes ago I said that we would get our hearts broken.
If USC scores a TD on this drive, we won't have to worry about that.

In my dreams we are still running the I and pro-set. I loathe bubble screens and no fullback. Compound that with not playing our fastest RB in this offense and I am about to explode.

Tedford will only send him in for the 4-5 plays that he stars in. So far he's been in one play screen that went for 2 yards when USC tackled Bigelow the instant he caught the ball.
I can guarantee you that if/when Bigs gets in USC will have LBs and Safeties shadowing him just to make sure he doesn't get free.

think he's been more ineffective due to OC duties. he's more valuable as the OL coach imho

I'm not really meaning to pile on, but it sounds like a bad team to me.

it looks like the playclock isn't working, so the offense has no idea when the play clock is ticking down. who do we blame for that?
