Actually,Cal hasn't played all that poorly. If Cal can hold USC out of the endzone (unlikely, but we can hope), It's only a 2 TD game and the defense hasn't looked terrible. The problem is that the offense needs to do something if we are going to come back and tie/win.

Kiffin is a terrible coach. He's just got far superior talent.

Offense: OL completely over matched. Nothing else mattered.

Defense: USC averaged 9 yards on first down. If not for the INTs and the questionable penalty that wiped out a TD, this would be a blow out

Overall: the score is not as bad as it could be. We have a long shot shot at winning the game, but I don't see it happening.

We got a little bit of pressure on Barkley later in the 2nd Q. Our run D has been atrocious. McNeal is carving us up. Safeties and ILB are just on the field for show I believe since they've been throwing more to the TEs. In essence, its been like every other USC game except we managed 2 INTs and their all world receivers somehow dropped 2 passes.

Our OL couldn't protect Maynard and couldn't open holes for our backs. Bigelow or not, can't do much without OL protection up front.

The pass defense has been mostly zone defense and a bit soft, which has helped Barkley, but the biggest problem has been that if the RB's get past the D-line they seem to run for 7-8 yards. The ILBs just haven't had a great game and its allowing USC to get a lot of 2nd or 3rd and short yardage (although USC continues to struggle on 3rd down, their O-line isn't very good.)

Bigger issue has been that the offense isn't on track at all. They are struggling to move the bal and we've had too few first downs and too many 3 and outs.

SC's DL and LB plays are pretty impressive. Very athletic and speedy.

I have to agree with this. USC doesn't actually look like a well coached team. They are ahead thanks to superior talent and a very bad offensive game plan for Cal.

I know you're being sarcastic, but I'll bet you he's in quite a bit in the second half, and gets alot of touches. If it's true that he's not much of a blocker, then it would make it easier for SC to key on him, though you can use that to your advantage too.

We are getting out classed and this would be 30-3 or worse at the half but for two interceptions and a lot of dropped balls by wide open WR's.

We have ZERO offensive identity.

Maynard has ZERO chance with our OL.

FG kicking is sub standard.

We are making plays on D but it feels like an all or nothing type D game plan.

I almost wish I had DTV so I wouldn't have to watch this sh*t.

Owning Tedford is not that hard, assuming your name isn't Gilbertson, Harris, koetter, Wulf, Radio, or are a FBS coach. I think these guys are 40% of his wins.

* Mediocre pass defense
* Poor run defense
* SC DL is owning us
* We got lucky with a INT in the end zone.
* ZM threw one INT.
* Our run game is being stuffed.
* Our pass offense is barely there.
* Lasco took a humongous hit. Not sure he'll be back.

I appreciate the optimism but I disagree on virtually all fronts.

The D made a nice 4th down stop at midfield and has the two turnovers, but that seems a bit misleading. It has been carved up left and right. Again. It is on track to give up 30+ points in the 4th straight game. And it could have been much worse if SC's receivers didn't drop a lot of balls when they were wide open.

We are getting out classed. The OL is truly playing terrible. We have zero offensive identity.

Never say never but we basically have zero chance of winning. I expect something like 45-13 for a final score. This is ugly.

I agree with all of this. I will defend the defense somewhat as they are (as usual) on the field far more than half the game. The short series on offense always wear out our defense. We aren't in this game due to a horrible offensive performance, not a horrible defensive performance.

I will repeat what has become a mantra for me: I HATE this offensive scheme. This is unrecognizable from the offense that we succeeded with early in Tedford's tenure. How was this guy an OC? Did he EVER have convictions offensively?

We have a lot of backs and it's not like we're getting great blocking the run game. We're also facing a lot of long yards for first down.

Putting Biggie in isn't a game plan.

On that note..we also give up on the run so fast. Its like..ohh we took a 2 yard loss.we better throw now..but yes..I hate this mish-mash offense whatever the fk it is.
