Knew many friends from Torrey Pines HS. Most were a mess too.

You actually made me look into San Diego State with all this smack and have to admit I am impressed with how far they have come. When I was a senior in HS (Del Mar, Torrey Pines), anyone could get into SDSU. Anyone. Its where the short bus kids went. They still rank for **** in all those silly arbitrary academic rankings, but impressed.

Don't think you'll find a single academic ranking that has CU lower than 6th in the PAC. But do find this line of smack entertaining, we never got this in the Big 12.

FWIW BowDown -- it was 1990, but personally speaking, USC was my safety school. Got into USC, UCSB, Pepperdine, Washington, Colorado and was waitlisted at fUCLA. CU had just won the MNC and I love to ski. No brainer. Couldn't have given a rip less about education back then. So guess you had me pegged. Wealthy dumbass who go into every school I applied, including UW.

<-- 1996 TP grad.

And I should add, in my time CU was definitely the school kids went to who were wealthy but didn't get into one of the better uc's (cal, ucla, Santa Barbara, Davis). If not Colorado, then arizona, and if not arizona, Sdsu or asu. Things probably have changed since then. Oh, USC was prob a tad higher than Colorado, but different strokes.

I did, but I drove 45 minutes to get there, so it's not like I was living in privilege... I just acted like it for a little while and then went back to the hood for the night.

vargus: So you finally found a type of red meat that is healthy and what do you do? Add cheese and eggs to it!
I'm glad I'm a vegetarian.

Torrey Pines grads have followed me onto BI. They will follow me everywhere.

We are 5 years apart, probably know some of the same people. Have two brothers 93 and 95.

SC definitely wasn't above Colorado in the 90s. They made their jump in the 00s. I would have been 4th generation at SC, but just couldn't deal with LA at the time.

Maybe, maybe not, but shows you how far $CUM has come. How about CU?

Gone in the opposite direction. The State of Colorado is dead last in higher education funding, something like 3%. Still, like I said, in most every academic ranking, CU is 6th in the PAC. Some like ARWU we hold our own closer to the top at 34th in the world. But with USNWR we are all the way down at 86. Its depressing.

But whatever. I haven't ever used my degree for anything other than being a college graduate. Went to watch good football, ski and party. But had I known this epic run of suck football was in the future, I may have gone to SC.

I would've made the same choice as you. CU>$C.

BI is the Stanford of college ranking circle-jerks.

The whole concept of edu-tainment in a premier lifestyle location is completely lost on some of you.

It's probably the heavy Asian influence that transpired in recent decades. [no racist]

"The whole concept of edu-tainment in a premier lifestyle location is completely lost on some of you."

Yes, lost. I prefer Berkeley, in any case.
