It is believed that Aztlan was located in California and of the the southwestern states. They then migrated to central america from there. But at the least, after the Spaniards pillaged the Aztecs in central america, they brought some with them (slaves, escorts, translators, etc) with them into san diego. Who knows. But it is very plausible that Aztecs were in southern parts of california at some point. Whereas as the Trojans and spartans have never been to North America lol.

The California education system calls you University of California at Berkeley, not Cal. The NCAA and Media calls you Cal. Which I have no grip with. So idk why you do. Now if a kid applies to SDSU, he doesn't apply to CSU San Diego. That school does not exist. When filling out his application, he/she will not find a CSU San Diego. Instead, the California educational system has our official name as San Diego State. They do that for a few other CSU's.

It was actually in 1974 that you changed the name to SDSU. It was Cal State San Diego only from 1972-73. Before that it was San Diego State College. You do have something in common with Cal though. John F. Kennedy gave a speech at Cal in 1962, and in 1963, he gave the commencement speech at SDSU, a few months before he was assassinated........

So, nothing happened other than the AD's and managers and us employees laugh and joke about it. The ADs had many run-ins with him over the years, so they expected nothing less, and didn't take his childish temper tantrum serious.

Interesting comment on the AD's. I meet with Jim Sterk often (current AD), including one on one phone conversations...I was friends with former AD Jeff Schemmel and never had a run in with him...I never had a run in with Mike Bohn AD or the short term AD Gene Bartow. I never talked to Rick Bay in my life.

Ok, since I started this thread I feel compelled to give an update on what is happening on AztecMesa (actually who am I kidding? Kicking off this thread may be the single greatest accomplishment of my life).

Shortly after this thread got started here, a thread on AztecMesa appeared under the heading "WTF I go to Cal Board and they are talking about this site." This then kicks off a multi page thread on AztecMesa where some posters are telling the mods they are embarrassing themselves and the school by coming to BI stirring things up, the mods responding that they didn't stir anything up but rather were just responding to the improprieties of Aztec Steve on BI and other folks taking various sides in the debate.

Then seven pages in the moderator realizes that the "WTF" thread was actually started by none other than Aztec Steve using the alias Aero01 (Steve apologize if that isn't true - it's been great having you on this board and your participation has been most welcome - I'm just reporting on what is going on over there). Of course one of the main critics of the mods behavior in that thread was Aero01. The mods then ban Aero01 and change his name on the site to "Aero01 aka Aztec Steve." Hilarity ensues. If we got rid of all posters on this board who offended someone or who were not perfect, I would be the only poster left on this board. :p

SDSU fans are my favorite by far. It's like a running gun battle crossing borders and fan boards. Who do they play next week because this is far from over and I won't feel complete unless I see it to conclusion.

For SDSU folks I am serious, I like your passion for Aztec football and the way you defend your school. A partner of mine is an Aztec and he always refers to Cal as Cal State Berkeley so I had to throw out my CSU-SD joke but it's all in fun.
