Offense needs to be able to get a first down or two to ice the game. not a fan of conservative runs on 1st & 2nd and then throwing downfield on third. Pass earlier if we're gonna, otherwise run three times and burn maximum clock.
If Jared didn't get hurt, we would have iced the game and scored 55 or 59 pts.

Nah. I think our offensive play calling just need a to stay aggressive even with a lead. And our defense is better than last year. It's not great but we did stop them all 3rd quarter.

He gutted out the ending, but he may need time to get back to 100%.

We should have won by a lot more. When Kaufman went away from his style D and went BBDB, we just weren't good. And more concerning when Goff started limping our offense went limp. If he's okay, we'll be okay. If not, we're dead.

Seriously....Sonny got too conservative on the other drives, then got risky on the pass play that failed and stopped the clock....totally opposite of what he should have done IMO. We could have sealed this game away with about 4 minutes to go if Sonny hadn't reverted to the JT playbook the series before the dropped pass one.

Btw, I'm so excited for this win. You can downplay it all you want..but going into Austin to beat Texas is fking gratifying...the fact that their hearts are ripped out makes it special. SUFFER WHORNS!

and for the haters on Defense - we just watched a GREAT young QB. Now there was some horrid pass coverage in the first half but a bunch of the second half stuff reflected a very freakishly good runner
Cal gave up 650 yards...and Texas isn't good on offense.

That was the right call, they were expecting the run, play action fooled them. Anderson was wide open, just bobble and lost the ball, simple as that. Should have never been that close.

Embarrassing. The defensive coaching staff should walk back to Berkeley. This was pathetic. (And Franklin got far too conservative on the last two offensive series.)
Wrong. Throughout that game SDSU QBs often had 4-5 seconds to throw and often Cal defenders were not within 5 yards of the receivers. The SDSU QBs were incompetent. Tonight played out as predicted on D end.
The pass play was the right call. Anderson catches a ball he normally catches 99/100 and the game is over.
We hung 45 points (should have been more) on TX. And Texas is good on defense.
And yes, Texas offense was good - their QB is very exciting and we were not prepared.
