It's 24 days since our last game. Why wait till now? (Oh, yeah, so he could land another job.)

Likens would be my guess.

I remember a story about his hiring to the effect that he told Dykes his conditions for taking the job were that he be left alone and that he be allowed to run things his way, without question.
Pure speculation, but this doesn't look like it is about money or getting fired to me. My gut says Dykes started getting involved (vertical set, over ruling a play call/decision to kick in a late game last year) and that was enough for Franklin.

No way recruits haven't known for a while now.

Reading some of these comments makes me feel better. My initial thought was, wow, how far have we declined that our OC would rather take a gig at Middle Tennessee State. This line of reasoning definitely makes more sense.

Wow! Maybe they fired him, but to save face told him to look for a new job...didn't Tedford do that with our longtime DC?

Sonny ran Arizona's offense just fine without Tony....
Joined at the hip?
Not really.

Yeah you aren't seeing. Whole lot of tweeting from them aside from one D prospect who probably didn't know cause he's a D prospect

I like Likens, but I would be very disappointed if he's our new OC.

I hate to say it, but I agree that this smells like he's being pushed out, despite the official word.

My only question is whether Sonny or Tony is responsible for the offensive fire power at Cal.
Everywhere Sonny has gone he has had great offensive production (lots of yards and lots of scoring) he also has brought out the best his QB's (regardless whether the were a Jared Goff or QB with lesser talent). Was that Sonny's doing or Tony's doing?

Likens may not be that bad of a choice given that he's worked in the system multiple years, has a year under his belt at Kansas, has coach Dykes to mentor him, might come back for less that coach Franklin was making but more than he was making at Kansas (providing more flexibility for say a running back coach), is an enthusiastic recruiter, works social media well, and taught the receivers when he was here before.

Any chance Gould would come back as an OC? Not sure if that's a step down from HC at Davis or not...
