Can bowers recover if he throws another pick?
That was a deflection when everyone knew he was going to pass.

We need a stud offensive line. And the injuries aren't helping.juarezbear said:
We need a stud QB. Bowers could evolve into one, but he needs a lot more maturing.

This team needs to find a way to take pressure off of Bowers. He is not the kind of talent that can overcome a deficit in the second half, especially without a stud receiver. As a game manager and occasional play extender he should be fine leading us to a mid Pac12 finish. And that is fine outcome for the state of the program.
Given the 5 turnovers our defense played really well. Formula for the rest of the year needs to be run run run, force turnovers on D. And recruit a QB with a D1 arm that will compliment our vastly improved defense next season.
Quit listening to it! I'm watching the ABC feed and listening to Starkey and Paws88Bear said:

This telecast may be the worst I have ever seen/heard.

Bottom line here: the Cal turnaround will not happen as fast as we hoped it would after the first 3 games. It's a multi-year project, if it happens at all.
Yeah, kind of an absurd stance.
We will definitely get better with him in charge, but it's going to be one step forward and two steps back. And will need us to step recruiting, which is the thing that takes the longest. Back in the JT era, we could say "we have talent, we're just not using it". Can you honestly say that now?
Rodgers had no pass protection in that game. Bowers has had better protection than that in this game, but still facing a lot of heat.LunchTime said:No, you force him to work through it. like when Rodgers was garbage vs OSU, then became one of the best ever...BearNIt said:
Do you sit Bowers to prevent lessening his confidence?
I agree with you. I have been underwhelmed by him this year.bearsandgiants said:88Bear said:

Yes. He is a decent college quarterback I don't see him doing anything in the NFL

But Bowers is playing against a much better defense. And he's just a sophomore in his 4th collegiate game.Yogi Bear said:Rodgers had no pass protection in that game. He is elite at extending the play outside the pocket and throwing accurately on the run. But he makes some Bowers like decisions on where to throw.bearsandgiants said:Yes. He is a decent college quarterback I don't see him doing anything in the NFL88Bear said:

Yeah, you're right, I meant two steps forward and 1.5 steps back. If we stayed with sonny it'd be one step forward, 1-2 steps back, and a quick break while he talks to his agent and Tony Franklin sells more DVDs to local high schools.4mybears said:510 Bear said:LunchTime said:

I sure hope you got it backwards!!
JT started with talent and didn't go 4-0, though. We started 3-0 then lost 2 of 3. We lost to Air Force at home for our 4th game...510 Bear said:I see everyone still hopes we become a Pac-12 contender instantly under Wilcox. You are much smarter than I. I'm disturbingly intrigued by the absurdity of it. That, and I'm being really lazy.txwharfrat said:Quit listening to it! I'm watching the ABC feed and listening to Starkey and Paws88Bear said:
