That's because Wilcox didn't inherit the steaming pile that Dykes did. And also basically lose the entire starting defense to injuries... but that point is, for TWO+ years now our offense has been every bit as bad as Buh's defense.

Sure. But the overall W-L record is better, and that's the bottom line for any head coach. It's not a big mystery why Dykes got more hate. He didn't win as much.

I get the hate. It's the free pass for having basically the same awful offense that we once had as a defense. That's all.
The difference, which is being overlooked in the comments that go overboard, is that the Wilcox defense is keeping the Bears in games like this, whereas the Dykes offense wasn't enough against top teams to keep the Bears within shouting distance.

All I have pointed out is that he's posted a better record than Dykes did in years 1 & 2. That's not a free pass, that's evaluating on results.
