I'm determined to try the following: if someone posts something that goes against my politics, I JUST IGNORE THEM instead of hijacking the thread. Why? Because the "gain" from defending my politics is actually smaller than the "loss" that comes from polluting the board with repetitive tedious crap nobody wants to read, which may eventually result in its demise.

Call it the "Marty McFly" rule. Which most of you will ignore, but that's cool.

Back on topic: I tried Jollibee in SF in 2007 and it gave me all kinds of indigestion, although that may have been due to Cal football's swan-dive. Never again.

Amen
Hmmm... Sounds kinda like what happened in Germany in the late 1930's. Ignoring injustice is accepting injustice.

Holy ***** That is a wild leap.

Absurd. Public schools don't check all their vendors to see if the owners or shareholders or corporate executives support causes that some subsets of the population would call discriminatory. That would be an onerous test. Also why stop at public schools? What if all state and federal purchasers refused to buy any products which all or in any part derived from countries that say declare homosexuality is illegal or countries that practice religious or gender discrimination? How about corporations whose products are produced in any part through child labor or even slave labor?

1. Have you seen a state or federal government contract? You have to agree to having a no discrimination policy. Homosexuality isn't one of the categories yet, but is there really a difference conceptually? Federal and state purchasers absolutely do what you are saying for several protected classes.

Also, would you feel the same way if Cal had contracted with the Black Muslim bakery back in the day? Or the Antifa food service? Would you be against a college in 1860 refusing to do business with companies that supported slavery because half the country believed in slavery? Chik's issues aren't important enough to you, but I suspect you'd feel differently about vendor choice if it were an issue that was more important to you.

To be clear I don't have a strong opinion about this, but it is not an unreasonable position.

That and it's an okay chicken sandwich. First thing I've found more overrated than In and Out . Both solid for fast food but get a big "so what" from me

And by the way, no child labor or slave labor clauses that are required to be flowed down to all subcontractors are very common. I'm not positive it is a federal contracting requirement, but it might be

I don't get the Chic-Fil-A love. When they came to California I tried the FCS and thought...this is fried chicken? It was limp, greasy and horrible. I can only surmise it's something you grow up with, like Jack in the Box tacos.

And only eaten at 2 am while drunk/stoned because it is the only place open. Like White Castle on the East Coast.

My main objection however remains the quality of the food.
Chic-Fil-Am?

Nah there's already a Filipino fried chicken fast food place.

Another example of an overrated place that survives on nostalgia. However, at least in the Philippines it is really, really cheap.

They reopened in Guam a few months ago and the line was down the block for months.

Exactly. I remember seeing WC in 80s and thinking, what, why? Then I saw someone eating like 20 after the bars closed...then I got it.

For some reason, a lot of Bay Area kids get athletic scholarships to Ole Miss baseball (I know of 4, two of whom I played with growing up). As for Chick-fil-A - I don't see what the hype is about. I've tried everything on the menu and besides their fries which are good, the sandwiches are blah. IMO.

If you're talking fries you're talking McDonald's and Five Guys. Two completely different types of fries, but both incredible.

I'm interested in seeing who OM puts up on the screen for the pregame ARE YOU READY bit....Katy Perry is one possibility or one of the USMC Sergeants from Navy ROTC is another...

On the chicken front, there is a Canes in the basketball arena next to the stadium that will be open...their chicken tenders are the best...don't like their fries because they use crinkle fries...

Agreed. The closest Chick-fil-A From where I live is in San Jose which we have done a few times before taking the kiddos to the Drive-In movies down there (I miss the Geneva Drive-In!) Now we do Back A Yard Caribbean Grill before the movies which is fantastic and reasonable but slightly OT. But I highly recommend that place. The fried plantains are incredible.

I love a Chick-fil-A spicy sandwich, but the fries as not good.

I mean, they are not bad... I wouldn't trust anyone who likes in-and-out fries. Those are bad.

5 guys is worth the trip for the fries.

If the board is explicitly political and about politics I tolerate political posts. If its supposed to be about anything else, I find any mention of politics to be extremely offensive.

Politics should not rule your life, nor should you ever find it necessary to tell anyone else what their politics needs to be unless they ask you. And I for one will never ask. I'm not interested in what you think regarding anything political.

Based on other posts of yours I cannot believe what you say here. I like In and Out better than Chick-Fil-A but both are good and I don't give a damn about either one's religious beliefs.

People who won't let you enjoy fast food of your choice don't deserve to eat Chick-fil-A. We had Chuck-fil-A for dinner last night on the drive from Nashville and loved it. And some colleges want to ban them-what happened to person opinion and choice?
You, as an individual, have the right to eat anywhere you want. That is ok. However, because Chick-fil-a supports causes that are discriminatory, public schools should not support them by permitting the purchase of their products by departments within the school. It is really that simple. And, no, I have never eaten at Chick-fil-a and have no intention of ever doing so.
Oh, brother. More political nonsense.
