Another extension? As it should be! You see, after this season, Fox will have only two years on his contract. We need to extend him, so that he is able to recruit!
Fox is the Number 1 coach in player development, he said so himself. However, Cal needs a dedicated practice facility for him to show that (because we sure aren't seeing it now). But unlike other schools in California, we can't have any practice facility for less than $125 million. It will take a few years to raise that, maybe longer if we continue to be the worst P5 team, which we will because Fox needs the practice facility to demonstrate his "Number 1 coach in player development" chops. Catch 22. Even if we built the facility in 3 years, you still have to give him 4 years to develop players using it. So 8 year extension, right? Longer for every year the money isn't raised and work doesn't begin. There is more to coaching than wins and loses.
Invest and attack!
It hardly seems fair that Wilcox has five more years on his contract after this year and Fox only has two. Heck, we just ran up 65 points on UC Davis tonight, whereas Wilcox' team only scored 34. Hey, maybe that's the solution: Fox could be Wilcox' new Offensive Coordinator next year!
