Agreed. I have no doubt. He has worked under great, but very different, coaches, works hard, will promote the program and it sounds like he can generate significant donor support, especially NIL which is the future of college athletics.

Moreover, your extremely strong endorsement is very significant to me. We think similarly on most issues relating to coaching so I trust your judgement on this FAR above any other insider/booster that posts here. I am sold, just beware of overselling.

Knowlton is old school. He has a set of values that is not in tune with the new landscape of college sports. His 2 major hires have failed miserably in terms of on court success. The mens team has seen attendance plummet and the on court record was the worst ever.

Does he realize that his criteria has lead to this? I doubt it. He may be more "open" to some other voices but at his core he seems to truly believe in his criteria. I am very certain that he does not like how the donors are asserting their power. NIL and the Caliber fund are reducing his authority. But he still has control of who gets hired. I am cautiously optimistic that he will make a better choice. But may exercise his hiring authority to the displeasure of many donors and fans.

ajay mitchell is the slightly less athletic but significantly less unselfish point guard cal comparison to tyrone wallace, his ability to pass into tight windows is unreal

Mitchell had 13 points (5 of 12), 4 assists, and just 1 turnover against 3 seed Baylor. Didn't see his defense but most of Baylor's points came from their guards.

Kelly fouled out with 4 points and 7 rebounds.

Watched second half. Very typical of most tournament games - refs let em play and the more athletic team able to create shots won. SOMETIMES doesn't happen ("Bear Down INDEED!!!") but most of the time that is the best way to pick em.

Generally seemed UCSB was a well coached Big West team.

If Mitchell comes he will do fine _BUT_ he needs to work on his jumper. Teams will sag.
