who is the only candidate on the made up coaching lists that consist of primarily old white guys that would be great hinge hook ups for knowlton that got a current player (that is known/respected by the current players) like andre kelly that will 100% vouch for him to stabilize the return of key players on the roster aka grant newell?
who is the only coach that can bring in an elite guard like ajay mitchell to ensure the bears don't lose 20+ games again next season?...college basketball today is point guard dominated, a facilitator/distributor is absolutely necessary to win basketball games at this level
who is the only coach that can 100% save the 2023 high school recruiting class of rodney brown & devin curtis according to their aau coach ryan silver?...joe pasternack has proven that he can successfully recruit at the high school (brown & curtis), international (ajay mitchell is from belgium) & transfer portal (andrew kelly from cal) levels
who is the only coach who got longtime relationships with cal's whale donors to build a basketball only practice facility (not the con artist's $125,000,000+ quidditch facility which is never gonna get built) & also raise the necessary nil dollars for future mcdonalds all americans?
who is the only coach who has worked with berkeley admissions & got a track record of recruiting high gpa true student athletes at a uc sister school like santa barbara?...the vast majority of these old white guys on these made up lists have built their careers around selling 2.5 gpa ballers hoop dreams of nba mansions, that's not gonna work at the #1 ranked public university in the world
who is the only coach who has previously worked in berkeley & is passionate about selling out haas which will mask the con artist's mind boggling hire of an unqualified markeisha everrett who has tried to relocate the few remaining berkeley students to behind the basket and got no clue about the gameday traditions of cal football/basketball or how to sell tixs despite the exodus of the oakland raiders & the family unaffordability of the golden state warriors?
who is the only coach who will not only engage his players, their families, fans/donors but also the media & general public despite working for a con artist who hasn't tweeted in a couple of years & is afraid to be transparent & conduct any interviews?...when is the bearinsider.com interview with the con artist gonna happen?
who is the only coach that is gonna be recommended when the con artist reaches out to dennis gates?
joe pasternack will reshape the atmosphere in the basketball facilities as a player's coach that celebrates/frees them up to play with joy & freedom (without fear like last season) with aggressive intensity (the fiery sammy alajiki is gonna love/thrive with this transformation)
the biggest lies told to cal fans is that this program cannot win because of the excuses perpetuated by the con artist & parroted by dumb azzs like canzano & califortunate among a few others who don't got no connections to accurate information...they will tell you that mark fox is "respected" by the players (100% not true according to families & former coaches) & that's he "hard working" (200% not true, the least visible college coach in the nation on the summertime aau circuit) which have set the program back the last 6 years along with perhaps the biggest lie that wyking jones "is a good person" which could not be absolutely further from the truth for the former assistant coach who used pitino's mother/daughter prostitution tandem for recruiting purposes while at louisville, ran off 2 high academic players that should've never been recruited in the 1st place by him, told multiple players to transfer/forego berkeley degrees when he wuz fired, lost the respect of every single person in the program (other than his hand selected s&c coach the mentally unstable jackson) when he sent theo home from hawaii which resulted in the worst loss in the history of cal basketball when the listless bears got blown out by d2 chaminade (that's the day i turned in my floor seats while in maui & took a 6 year vacation from cal bbb) & conspired to censor cal's monster class behind my back
ive got bigger passions in life right now than cal basketball so its kinda doubtful that ima gonna attend 150+ games in a row again as the director of recruiting/gameday energy but its my intent in perhaps the final chapter of my love letter to the magic of cal basketball to champion the hiring of joe pasternack as the next head basketball coach in berkeley

Agreed. I have no doubt. He has worked under great, but very different, coaches, works hard, will promote the program and it sounds like he can generate significant donor support, especially NIL which is the future of college athletics.
Moreover, your extremely strong endorsement is very significant to me. We think similarly on most issues relating to coaching so I trust your judgement on this FAR above any other insider/booster that posts here. I am sold, just beware of overselling.
Knowlton is old school. He has a set of values that is not in tune with the new landscape of college sports. His 2 major hires have failed miserably in terms of on court success. The mens team has seen attendance plummet and the on court record was the worst ever.Big C said:calumnus said:Shocky1 said:

fun contest: who is the better athletic director???
PROGRAMS:
jd wicker: san diego state runs a cost conscious 17 programs (6 mens & 11 womens)
james arthur knowlton: cal run 30 financially unsustainable programs with a current massive bailout from the chancellor's discretionary fund (that will be likely significantly reduced with the next chancellor)
CONSTRUCTION:
https://instagr.am/p/CkPWd2-oYyf
jd wicker got the $310,000,000 leed gold snapdragon stadium opened this year
james arthur knowlton is in his 4th year of tryna fundraise his time share $125,000,000+ quidditch facility that's NEVER gonna be built
MEN"S BASKETBALL PROGRM:
san diego state is ranked #22 in the nation at 21-5 led by former bear matt bradley who intensely disliked/felt disrespected by his former coach
cal is 3-24 with a head coach that wuz extended contractually from 2024 to 2025
STUDENT ATTENDANCE:
san diego state students attend the games for free, it's a party atmosphere with loud crowds that is developing a future generation pipeline of season tix buyers/donors
cal: the athletic department sells tixs to financially strapped students with markeisha everett & her fellow unemployable sidekick vasileios iliopoulos tryna relocate the few remaining students from midcourt to behind the basket
CONFERNCE NEGOTIATIONS:
jd wicker has relentlessly pursued a pac 12 invitation for san diego state
james arthur knowlton hasn't done **** other than to repeatedly lie to donors during the board of regents process telling them it wuz "50/50" that ucla would be blocked from joining the big 10 when in reality it wuz a less than 1% desperation hail mary pass for losers
ANNUAL SALARY:
jd wicker: $340,000+
https://nevadasportsnet.com/news/reporters/how-much-every-mountain-west-athletic-director-will-make-in-2022-23
james arthur knowlton: $1,300,000+ average annual salary thru 2029
verdict: tell the con artist to **** off (andrew mcgraw for athletic director)

Yes and no. Somebody else is stroking the check for Fox' buyout and the new coach (and reportedly other stuff). Especially in the face of JK's abject failures I have to believe those check writers have de facto veto power over this hire.6956bear said:Knowlton is old school. Does he realize that his criteria has lead to this? I doubt it. He may be more "open" to some other voices but at his core he seems to truly believe in his criteria. I am very certain that he does not like how the donors are asserting their power. NIL and the Caliber fund are reducing his authority. But he still has control of who gets hired. I am cautiously optimistic that he will make a better choice. But may exercise his hiring authority to the displeasure of many donors and fans.
Watched second half. Very typical of most tournament games - refs let em play and the more athletic team able to create shots won. SOMETIMES doesn't happen ("Bear Down INDEED!!!") but most of the time that is the best way to pick em.stu said:
Mitchell had 13 points (5 of 12), 4 assists, and just 1 turnover against 3 seed Baylor. Didn't see his defense but most of Baylor's points came from their guards.
Kelly fouled out with 4 points and 7 rebounds.
