Black uniforms?

What is that on the front of the black jersey? If it's a cannabis bud for 4-20, okay fine. If not, WTH is it and how can the Warriors expect to win this one?

We've had these special uniforms on and off all season long.
Google artist Allison Huemann.
The flower points to women's suffrage.

They also decorate the floor with the motif.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34988763/fire-unveiling-golden-state-warriors-women-suffrage-themed-new-city-edition-jersey

From her website:

Allison Hueman is a multidisciplinary artist based in Oakland, CA. Her distinctly gauzy art style is what she likes to call "etherealism," a blend of ethereal realism. Whether she is creating delicate visions on canvas, augmenting reality through tech, or crushing massive walls with a spray can, she often draws on the human condition to create colorful mash-ups of abstract and representation. Her pieces evoke a modern mythology, exploring themes of time, memory, and healing, and her layered works can be seen on streets and in galleries worldwide. She balances her time between exhibitions and creating public works while also collaborating with some of the world's top brands that include the Golden State Warriors, Adobe, Nike, Google, L'Oreal, Sony Music, and many more. Her work has found homes in the collections of Ava Duvernay, Usher, P!nk, and Swizz Beats.

I bet they switch back to traditional uniforms and floor colors for Game 4.
It's been like that all season.
I love the uni's, by the way.

Green is such a big part of the offense and defense

Rebounds, runs the break, passes, defends, rebounds

Looney can't get in foul trouble or warriors can put a fork in it

Bonta Hill on radio yesterday suggested if W's win Game 3 without Green that they might take a second look at the starting lineup for Game 4.

Who's going to say that's crazy talk now?

Shasky says this morning that a lot of guys felt empowered without him there. That's what I saw, too.

After two games of Sabonis being unstoppable now he is not even looking at the basket

Kings had 4 players spread at the 3 point line with Sabonis at the FT line, ball in hand, and a sagging Looney daring him to bring it.
OMG, I couldn't believe that Sabonis chickened out of it. I think Sabonis should be able to back him down to 3 feet and score 80% of the time. He did so only twice.

That allowed the W's to play tough D on everyone else.
Sets up for an interesting aspect to watch going forward. Mike Brown has to tell Sabonis to GO!

You need to get with it on the uni, man.

The Warriors are pushing the art form of basketball jerseys with their new women's suffrage-themed city edition uniform unveiled Thursday and set to be worn in Friday's home game against the Cavaliers.

Oakland artist Allison Hueman designed the 2022-23 city edition jerseys, which earned the approval of Warriors superstar Steph Curry during the process.

"It's dope," said Curry, who's worked with Hueman on several project, including designing a community center in Oakland four years ago. "To be able to design our jerseys and obviously in terms of women's empowerment and the story behind the details of the jersey, it's loud but it's pretty dope."

The center of the jersey features Art Deco lettering in a nod to Bay Area landmarks, as well as a line-drawn yellow rose. But the eye-catching portion of the design is lower: A photorealistic yellow rose at the base of the jersey, slightly fading as it moves up the abdomen.

The yellow rose is a symbol of the American women's suffrage movement that culminated just over a century ago in finally allowing women the right to vote. With the directive to create a jersey focused on women's empowerment, Hueman latched onto the rose, which happened to feature one of the Warriors' team colors.

"I am so proud that we will use our uniform, one of the most visible assets of this franchise, to empower girls and women around the world," Warriors chief marketing officer Jen Millet said in a team release.

As for the black base of the jersey, Hueman wanted to create contrast with a color she says is associated with masculinity.

"I try to find opposing elements to balance each other out," she told ESPN. "I also didn't want to make something 'soft' because not all women are 'soft.'"

Social media response Thursday has been tepid at best, but new jerseys that aren't tied to throwback themes often draw ire, and, as Millet pointed out to ESPN, the city edition jerseys only stick around for a single year. Even jerseys with familiar concepts can fall flat: The carefully plotted 2020-21 city editions that read "Oakland" were panned by fans who thought the team was pandering after abandoning the East Bay for San Francisco's Chase Center.

This season's rose-focused uniforms are part of the Warriors' Empowered campaign, which is "a celebration of women at the intersection of court, community and culture in the Bay Area," according to the team release. The Warriors and jersey sponsor Rakuten have pledged to donate over $25,000 to the Women's Sports Foundation as part of the campaign.

Personally, I just never liked the Warriors having black uniforms at all and would prefer one home look (white) and one road look (blue). IMO all the mix-and-match NBA uniforms make it too hard to identify which team is which.

But obviously that's not the way of things anymore.

My Take on Last Night's Win

Donte had 7 rebounds / 8 assists and Loon had 20 and 9. Those two guys were super active!

Moody was an unexpected scoring power off the bench with 13.
I didnt see that coming.

Wiggins had a super productive game and Steph was Steph.
Poole had a "quiet" 16 with 5 boards and it appears his ankle is feeling a lot better.
But he's still struggling from three and went 1 for 7.

Gotta love another 2 days off rest!

The only player I had a problem with was Klay.
In literally a must win game he disappeared with only 13 points and several of his 3's didnt happen until late in the 4th when the Dubs were well in control.

We only had 11 turnovers and killed the Kings on second chance points: 24 to 12

Sabonis got stripped multiple times. I think he got a little skittish handling the ball. He does have a high dribble that seems subject to steals. But yeah once he gets close to the basket he scores (unless they strip him )

If something is artistic and/or pretty and/or supporting a good societal or cultural cause, that's wonderful. Doesn't mean it needs to part of an NBA uniform. Now, if it ends up helping the cause of women's suffrage, it might be worth it! Oh wait, women got the right to vote over 100 years ago. Not sure the relevance to the Warriors uniforms in 2023.

Here's something relevant (and positive, in case you're thinking I'm a Negative Nellie): I'm pretty sure if Kevon Looney had gone to Cal instead of (F)UCLA, he'd be one of my all-time fav basketball players right now. Heck, he's fairly high up there as it is!

Every party needs a pooper, which is why I'm invited to so many! Okay, you and concordtom have a compelling argument and, open-minded as I am, it is starting to sway me...

Maybe our football team can come out for our first home game vs. Auburn in the Fall wearing black unis (or pink, if you will), with big flowers on the front! Fans will love them because they are artistic, pretty and celebrate a positive event in our nation's history from 100 years ago!

Looney is so chill, willing to work hard with what he's got, never complains… you gotta love him. Those dudes are special in an era of primadonnas.

Looney has gotten better every single year, and several years ago when he was struggling with injuries and unable to play I was thinking they should release him.

I have no idea how he gets all those rebounds, he's not that tall.

This is perhaps a bit like how some people have said, "slavery ended 150 years ago, get over it." Which is just f-ing stupid, for we all know it goes way beyond just being slaves or just having the vote (suffrage).

Women still get a fraction of the pay, executive level jobs, etc than men. The struggle for equality continues.

The NBA has a bunch of BLM matter stuff on jerseys in the bubble. Some other groups have done the rainbow in their uniforms (US national soccer). This modest nod to women's issues was great, I thought.

That's fine if you don't like the black jerseys, or the design. Of course, you're completely entitled to your opinion.

And I know you know what I mean. I'm married to a woman and have 5 daughters.
Up with women!

I should provide the disclaimer: first time I saw the design I scoffed, like you. But then I looked it up, and ultimately decided I love it!

To this point there has been 60 total Defensive rebounds in the game and 17 Offensive rebounds.

Dray is having a solid game with the exception he is shooting too much. He is currently 3-14….meaning that is most likely constructively 11 turnovers.

But his positives out weighed the negative today.

Dray missed lots of "bunnies" and was 3 for 14, but Dray was absolutely INCREDIBLE down the stretch on D.

Poole with 22.
