I get that social media is the best bang for your buck, but I can't tell you how many times I ask people playing basketball in the RSF before the game if they are going to the game and getting "what game?" as the answer
Can't they at least put a changable sign in the RSF and around campus promoting games, at least the biggest games?

I would be curious to know from the Furd game, how many of the students that attended would have bought a ticket anyway and how much revenue would it have produced? Also, how much extra revenue was realized by concession sales from students that would not have been there if they had to pay for their ticket? A decent athletic department would have some type of estimate in answering those two questions. My uneducated guess is that at the very least it's a break even result. I have been pushing the Dept to close up the openings to the inside cafe (can still be accessed by the high paying donors, simply walking around by the restrooms to the exterior doors) which currently take away student seating very close to the court and thus detract from our "home court" advantage. Coach Madsen also strongly supports putting the student bleachers back to its original condition (Cuonzo/Monty years). Even closing one of the entrances would be an improvement. Why do a few people need TWO doors to the tiny room, which itself isn't compelling as it is barren and has no personality.

If you want to bring more students, make it more fun and I guarantee sitting there is more fun, shows well on TV and helps win games

If madsen is still taking suggestions, is it possible to move the band back to right behind the basket? I think it adds a lot when the band is more involved. Or is there some rule now that doesn't allow bands to be too close to the court?
I'm expecting the UCLA game to be sold out. Tickets are going FAST. If you haven't gotten yours yet, I'd suggest you do it before its too late. Prediction for the USC game is 7K.

Totally agree - I am one of the people who do use the cafe, and it is a nice perk, but its not worth hurting the game day environment and detracting from a needed home court advantage, On average about 30-40 people use it (donors related). But it can still be easily accessed via the main hall way with Both openings closed. Surprisingly its not a low cost capital budget fix, but well worth it. What needs to be stressed is that having a packed student section helps to win games. And winning games brings in more fans, builds hype, builds momentum, etc. For instance, we don't win the Stanford game without the student section being packed. How much did it cost to make the student tickets free vs. how much money did we make from winning the stanford game? Got to put it in terms that knowlton is going to understand.
Even closing one of the entrances would be an improvement. Why do a few people need TWO doors to the tiny room, which itself isn't compelling as it is barren and has no personality.

If you want to bring more students, make it more fun and I guarantee sitting there is more fun, shows well on TV and helps win games
Agree. Alot of these mega donors dont even show up for non conference games. I think you need to have floor seats to access that room.

4th, when I went in there once I was surprised there was no Cal branding in the room

Where are these two entrances? Floor level in the middle of the student section?
