One other thing to add PTownbear: I don't mean to make such a stand for Duke and Coach K where I naturally have a bias. Even though a lot of coaches do questionable things, I think there are still a handful of coaches that deserve respect and operate with character, putting right/wrong over Ws/Ls. We were fortunate to have one with Monty. But there plenty others: Beilein at Michigan, Krystowiak at Utah, Bennett at Virgina all seem to be cut from that same cloth and I'm sure there are plenty others.
You've obviously put a lot more thought/research into it then I have, and you could certainly turn out to be right and Coach K/Duke are the rare exception. But I've been taught if it doesn't look right, it probably isn't. None of the other coaches you mention have accomplished a fraction of the recruiting success. Just look at the Duke commits for next year. They are rolling.

Personally, I just don't see how all these future basketball super stars would have the desire/time to be prepared for and keep up with a year's curriculum at Duke without significant concessions and/or inordinate support. A few of them, like our own Jaylen Brown may be brilliant curious minds, but no way 20+ athletes fit that description. Only time will tell though...

Yeah, I look at situations like this by remembering Lance Armstrong. If someone is beating a large group of cheaters year in and year out, then we should all be extremely skeptical about that person claiming to be squeaky clean. People unskeptically believed Armstrong's professions of cleanliness for far too long.

This is a good thing. Iron out the one and done rule and we could be on to something.

Have to admit I have lost most interest in college basketball ever since the one and done arrived. Generally, just a bunch of AAU grad mercenaries gong to top programs for one year to get exposure.

A sentiment shared by many. Unfortunate what has happened.

Wichita St.-Notre Dame tonight a bit of a throwback in that regard. I have really enjoyed watching both of these teams. Neither program has much of what you describe.

Meanwhile 'nothing to see here' at Arizona. Sean Miller pleads ignorance and "a players program" carries on like nothing happened even getting two 5 star recruits during the investigation. Miller ain't going anywhere.

Unless the Fibbies can turn Richardson and he squeals.

I like where Bilas is coming from on these issues. Particularly his doubt that there are Federal crimes here.

Asked about the federal corruption charges, Bilas demurred, arguing that the case is built on shaky ground. "I have been a trial lawyer for years, but I don't see these as federal crimes," he said. "No federal laws have been broken."

They may have something on the wire fraud, but bribery and corruption seem to be tough unless these are federal employees or contracts (which they aren't).

However, I'm all for anything that breaks the NCAA money machine a bit (a lot). All my experience over the last 30 years indicates that money has diminished the college game.
