Don't know if this is true or not but what do most people think about coach parks. He was brought in to help our bigs & also I suspect game planning. I still think there is lots more that needs to be done and switching to a new coach at this time means they will have to learn another system from a new coach could mean a step backwards. Hope this is a upgrade for coach park or perhaps it is a mutual decision by both parties.

At first I felt a little betrayed. Like LSU will if NC leaves. But your point about a mutual decision may be right on the mark. He has moved around a lot and never stayed very long anywhere in D1. USC might be perfect for DP. Nobody stays there more than a couple of years anyway

Hell, get KI from SLO. At least she could teach free throw shooting. If Leigh G. has finished law school maybe she would like to try coaching again. Maybe bring in a high school coach with good knowledge of Cali talent, like Gonsalves or Gardere or Toni Russell.

The best thing we could do might be to try and get Kevin back. He got a raw deal from Boyle just before she left.

Well, this is def a bit of a blow. I thought the posts flourished under him.

But I'm confident that Gottlieb will treat this hire with utmost importance, and not just as a filler position.

USC has under-performed under Cooper. From what I've heard/read, the coaching exodus was not only about new opportunities for the coaches who departed. It doesn't sound like a desirable place to work, or, perhaps, play....

Onward and upward.

Nor Cal Prep had a letter from a walkon there who said it was a joy to play there. They don't have a lot of transfers.

Cooper may not be the coach everyone thinks he should be but he beat us twice with no bench.

I'm certainly no expert. You're correct that players seem to stay.

I was NOT talking about Cal, so not sure why you quoted me about a player here????? I was talking about USC and the exodus of assistant coaches (all three left). It's coaching carousel time and so lots of programs are seeing changes....

I have no clue about anything happening here.

As I mentioned in my T&F posting..all of the WBB team was at the Track meet with the exception of Sherbert. Hope this isn't what triggered the speculation. Wow..are only perimeter shooter...

I'm with you on this one. Yes, it will be disappointing if the Daron Park rumor is true, but coaching is a JOB. Why should he have loyalty to Cal, if the situation is better for him elsewhere? It's not like he'd be leaving us in the lurch, and it's not like he's said "eff you" to the fans or coaches or players. If this is not his dream job, why should we expect him to stay? I don't get the anger. Plus, who knows who Coach G will get to replace him if it's true? As long as Charmin is still here and Coach G, I think the team will be more than OK, with or without Daron, and we may get a coach who is a better fit for Cal in some way that I don't know about as a fan.

FWIW, Atticus has been right enough of the time to actually take this rumor seriously. It might actually be true, in other words. Personally, I REALLY hate the rumor-spreading, but I am grateful that somebody mentioned the Tweet here, since it's already out there in a very public forum; we all may as well see it, since Atticus' 2000 followers already saw it.

As to the rumors about Sherbert, I really would rather hear these things through official channels, or from the player herself (or her family). I find it disrespectful to a player and team, not to mention a violation of the player's privacy, to post those sorts of rumors here. If it's true, it's true, and there's nothing we fans can do about it; if it's not, then a kerfuffle was needlessly started. I think it's a shame to post these things before confirmation; I'm not denying that this could be true, just that I'd rather not hear this rumor if it turns out to be unfounded.

You know this "rumor" was posted Saturday afternoon on the 14th y of April. It's now Tuesday afternoon and there has been no verification from any source. Only Atticus Fich, who is usually very reliable but no one's perfect. Maybe we just haven't heard and it is true. But the longer this silence continues the less sure I am that it is. Maybe it was either a bad (wrong) rumor or, possibly, Daron thought about it some more and changed his mind. Maybe Coop is about to be fired and Daron will be the HC. Who the hell knows? But my skepticism radar is starting to show a blip.

I wouldn't let the long silence between Atticus' leak and official announcement lull you into thinking it isn't true. Remember how long it took for an official announcement about Joanne last year? There are various reasons programs don't make announcements right away, even after a leak. For example, PearBear officially confirmed Lindsay's departure, but I'd bet it'll take another week to actually see an official athletic department release. I'm not saying the DP rumor is true or false, but that I'd trust Atticus in this case.

It's that time of year again ... The coaching carousel is turning. And apparently it's player roulette time, too.

Keep in mind there is a family dynamic with Coach Park. There may have been forces at work against a move to LA. Who really wants to move there from here?

Agree with the latter part but not understanding the 'family dynamic' part. Is his family still in the south (meaning deep south) or have relocated to the bay area? I was guessing they didn't move ..cause he is still returning to the deep south occasionally though it could be for recruiting........

When I had talked to him in August of last year, he was hoping to bring them out this year. But who knows now.

I was making a bearbacker donation today at Cal and asked. They said he was gone to USC. Although it wasn't in the bearbacker office I heard it. But it was at Haas.
