Very nice ball movement leads to an Anigwe and-1.
Apparently, never.grin&bearit said:
Wondering when they will guard Peterson
Cal did not make a field goal from the field the final 3:58 of the game.....pearbear said:
Always gotta make it exciting, huh Bears?
To be fair, the refs called a foul on UW as the shot clock expired with about 1 minute to go letting Cal keep possession (not that Cal scored after the potential gift).blungld said:
That's two important wins in a row. Great job Bears.
The foul on Melgoza called on Recee in the last minutes was a total joke. She does a turnaround and there is literally no contact but she gets a foul call. I dont what it is with Washington guards, but PAC 12 refs love to give them free throws.
I'll take Brown (jr), Smith (so), Forbes (fr) over Melgoza (jr), Peterson (so), Rees (fr).ncbears said:
But next year, UW still has Melgoza Peterson and Rees.
I noticed some really nice quick and decisive passing by K.A.ncbears said:
So KA passes out twice and doesn't get an assist, so next time she just scores it herself.
And her defense is also strong.
And just as I type that KA picks up a third foul....
Cal 58-45

Ball movement in general looked good. KA having the confidence to kick it out to our shooters (10-19 from 3) makes our offense much better.BearBint said:

It was good to see Styles on the court again. She looked fluid and will be a big help next year as well.BearBint said:Well, hell, yes!R90 said:I'll take Brown (jr), Smith (so), Forbes (fr) over Melgoza (jr), Peterson (so), Rees (fr).ncbears said:

West, Styles and Yue are all much more wide-bodied compared to Anigwe. They won't dominate with quickness and grace like Kristine, but they can box out, set screens and hold their own in the post defensively and on the boards.BearBint said:

Yes! I'll be interested to see whether A.S. muscles up the way Kristine has, and shows off her rebounding skills next season.

If our playing style evolves with our personnel, next year will feature an exciting, guard-focused offense.
Brown, Smith, Forbes (and hopefully Cayton and Green) can carry the scoring load. Some other role players (Archer Olson?) could step up as 3-pt. specialists.
The trolls will probably say Gottlieb can't adapt, but our final four team was more guard oriented with Clarendon (16.4 ppg.) and Boyd (12.5 ppg.) as our top scorers. Jemerigbe and Pierre were very important on defense, even if they didn't score much. Lyles had some big moments too. Caldwell was our wide-bodied post and Brandon owned the boards.
I'm looking forward to seeing next year's team in action.
Fields, Anastasieska, Richey... potential for many to step up and contribute, especially as 3-pt. shooters and smart defenders if they improve. Gonna be lots of minutes up for grabs with Anigwe, Thomas and Caldwell graduating, and increased playing time will lead to rapid improvement.SFCALBear72 said:

We should be a fast-pace offense with quick guards getting up and down the court...and 3-pointers
I'm wondering if Sara A, another guard, will be able to contribute next season. I'm also curious to see what Lauren Fields brings to the court. Nobody is really talking about her.
