Okadome gets into the 200 breast A final by the skin of his teeth - 1:50:35 for 8th overall and 3rd in his heat (9th was 1:50.41 and 4th in that same heat). Rivers adds time to finish 19th and doesn't make it back

Bears doing well but bottom line still need a couple DQs by the longhorns!

Wondered where we would be if Brook Curry was allowed to swim but of course he still had to qualify.

The abort start alarm goes off mid race during Rose and Applebaum's 200 fly heat... will be a while before they go again.

I have followed this meet since Wednesday night. Texas has more depth and more 1st and/or 2nd place finishes. Cal is competitive but appears to be in a strong position to finish second. The Bears did qualify a few more swimmers today for the A & B heats so maybe they can close the gap and make it a close finish. The transfer of ASU star, Kos, may have pushed the Longhorns over the top. GO BEARS!

Underwhelming heat, Rose finishes 2nd in 1:39.78 which gets him into the A final in 6th, Applebaum adds slightly to a 1:40.63 which puts him at 12th overall and into the B final.

Cal has 6 up/5 down, Texas 4/4 before mile, diving and relay tonight

Unfortunate. Both divers missed finals, and Texas got a consol finalist

From my read, Cal down 20 points heading into the diving and the final relay. Not sure if there is a way through even with a UT DQ.

Not officially over but Cal trails TX by 25pt after diving. However if someone on TX has a cramp in the final 400 relay then...

2025 meet wraps up with Texas winning 18-point margin over Cal in second, who earns a 12-point margin over Indiana.

Congratulations Durden, staff, and team on an unbelievable 15-year streak of earning 1st or 2nd at the big dance. Roll on you Bears!

Diff was Texas's 27-1 over Cal in diving & of course if it wasn't for Indiana's diving pts our second place wouldn't even be close. Great job by our swim team.

Long*****s have replaced the furds as my Bete noire in sports. Since the f u r d s had a big hand in getting us into the ACC along with Notre Dame I'm not rooting against them anymore in fact the sad furds seem to have fallen far in the NIL era and they're surely not as competitive in the Olympic sports as they used to be.

Hope he's around for next year we're going to need some veteran swimmers. Assume Durden will be dipping into the transfer portal. We seem to have a few bag$ $tashed away for nil transactions

Not as upsetting about us vs furds, specially when it involves the Olympic sports. Besides the NIL. I believe Texas will be offering full scholarships to all their swimmers too. How can you compete against those odds.

It will be hard to compete. Texas Athletics is uniquely positioned to support all its sports programsincluding non-revenue sports like swimming and beach volleyball. With a $1.28 billion valuation and self-sustaining revenue model, the program can fully fund scholarships and resources across the board, ensuring competitive opportunities for athletes in every sport.

Congrats to the Bears on a successful season. 15 years of being top 2 in the country is no joke and the athletes should be proud to contribute to a team with such storied legacy.

No use dwelling on the what could have been scenarios of the meet, so it's time to look forward to next season. The team will look a lot different as we lose all of our immediate impact players - Lasco, Alexy, Jett, Rose etc. Even worse, we return 2/20 relay legs (Okadome on both medley relays), maybe Tomac on backstroke if they give him another year of eligibility.

The incoming freshman class is oddly skewed towards mid-distance/distance, but distance assistant coach Noah Yanchulis has proved he is no slouch at developing our longer event athletes. Unfortunately, the NCAA is a sprint-based meet. Will likely need some of the current sprinters to step up - we lose 5 of the top 6 50/100 freestylers on the roster.

Diving - hard to tell what happened this past week, though I did watch the platform rounds fairly closely. Thai missed his second and third dive, there was no chance of recovery after that. Vavitsas was kind of on the edge of finaling the entire time and had a subpar last dive that wiped him out of scoring. The program has made significant progress since coach Pei Lin was hired, looking forward to continued success in the future.

Thank for the update and YES we are proud of what the Bears accomplished. They made up lots of ground after the 3rd day and forced the longhorn to go all out too.

We have traditional done well with 5th yr athletes. Is it possible for Alex or Jett to return?
