Definitely seeing some very impressive times being thrown down @ the SEC/ACC/B1G conference champs in progress this week! Remains to be seen whether these swift swims will be replicated or perhaps even surpassed come NCAAs with its attendant high pressure environment & intense atmosphere.
Our women's turn will come starting next Wed evening up in Federal Way @ Pac-12s.
The main goal for potential NCAA qualifiers would I reckon involve snagging NCAA cuts and putting down fast times to optimise seeding in March whilst fine tuning some race strategy & relay lineups ...
For the rest of the team, Pac-12s will be a great opportunity to parlay all the hard sweat & labour from training intensively the whole season into all-our efforts to contribute to the team scoring, to finally test the limits of one's capabilities with a wee spot of help from a full taper & rest. Also, just to soak in all the fun & excitement of a conference championship at the conclusion of the season!
Beating the fave furdette juggernaut & trojanette champs from last year's conference would def be sweet if just for bragging rights, not to mention providing a bit of a confidence booster, esp if it comes at the expense of Stanfurd lol ...
The priority for national title contending powerhouses like Cal & LSJU should be striving to save the very best for the big dance though, for when it matters the most (for those with realistic aspirations of qualifying for NCAAs) - whilst trying to race tough & fast @ Pac-12s at the same time. IMO ... YMMV :p
Well, it's that time of the year again, so by request I've created a new topic dedicated to 2018 Pac-12s here.
Much of what I had written a year ago for last season's edition of our conference championship (see above quoted paragraphs) is still relevant today, I think/hope!
Also, some thoughts from earlier this season:

So, 8 Bears projected to safely make it into NCs - Thleen, Abbey, Billy, Katie, Nono, Madds, Sarah, Keeks.
Would reckon that Ali, Chenoa, Robin, Val have really good chances of boarding the bus or rather plane to Columbus on 14 March as they are currently pretty close, which would bring our swimmer tally up to 13, equalling last season's. Add Phoebe & Briana on the diving side, and that would be quite a decent squad.
Actually would be blinking brill if Sophie (100 back) & Dannie (100 breast, 400 IM) could squeak in as they aren't that far off in the aforementioned events. Probably won't score in their froski year, but the experience would be so great for the pair
