Being overweight may boost risk of severe COVID-19, CDC says - Los Angeles Times https://www.latimes.com/science/story/2020-10-09/being-overweight-may-boost-risk-of-severe-covid-19-cdc-warns

"Adults who are overweight but not quite obese may face an increased risk of developing a severe case of COVID-19, according to new advice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The public health agency has long said that people who are obese are more likely to become severely ill if they have a coronavirus infection. The threat posed by being overweight is not as clear, but it was strong enough to be added to to the list of medical conditions that "might" put people at "increased risk for severe illness," the CDC said.

The updated warning appeared on the CDC's website this week.

Obesity joined the CDC's official list of severe COVID-19 risk factors in June.

Yes, I see that the CDC, while mandating experimental covid vaccines, never actually recommended that overweight people lose weight, take zinc and vitamin C, etc...

Unfortunately, not surprising.

Believe it or not, you are smarter than most people.

During Covid, were many people taking zinc and vitamin D everyday to prevent disease? No, because the medical advice was unclear.

"SCIENCE"

Instructive video. Former CDC official, Dr Daslalakis (but let's call him Dr Joy) is sounding the alarm. "The CDC is generating policies that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to hurt rather than improve the public's health." When pressed for specifics here's what he comes up with.

1. RFK directed the CDC to remove the Covid vaccines from the childhood immunization schedule for healthy children 6 months old to 2 years old. Dr Joy here cites some statistic about hospitalizations. Where is this data? It's complete nonsense. Healthy children don't need the Covid vaccines. They have never needed them. This is why country after country has removed the recommendations for young children. The US and Canada are the ONLY ones left. And why is that? Not only do the vaccines have very weak, short-lived efficacy, the risk of harm outweighs the benefits. This is the SCIENCE other countries cite when they remove the vaccine recommendations. Study after study has shown that Covid vaccine efficacy turns NEGATIVE within a year and the more boosters one receives, the worse the negative efficacy. Has the CDC under people like Dr Joy given any thought to what it means to have a child vaccinated at six months with eighty years of expected life ahead of them have negative efficacy within a year or two? It's bat**** crazy.

2. Hepatitis B is on the agenda in September and Dr Joy predicts the CDC will remove the recommendation that children receive the Hep B vaccine at birth. Now this is important. Listen carefully to what he says at the 2:20 mark.

"If you have a mother (sic, he meant to say pregnant person, the term he used when he resigned) who is well connected to care, you know her Hepatitis B status, that may not matter very much." But if a woman with unknown status comes in to give birth and she does happen to have Hepatitis B, you have one chance to vaccinate that child and protect him or her from liver scarring, liver cancer later in life, etc. Fair enough, if the status of the mother is unknown (highly unlikely, she can easily be tested and this is standard practice), then vaccinate that child. But what about all the children born to the 99%+ of mothers where her Hepatitis B status is definitively known? He just admitted that they don't need it. Why must they be vaccinated on the first day of life and twice more in the next six months for a disease that they have a near zero chance of contracting for more than a decade? (Hepatitis B spreads mostly by drug needles and also unprotected sex)

Who is jeopardizing the health of Americans, this guy

or this guy?

When the authority is corrupt and captured, appeals to that authority are thoroughly unconvincing. And all the bloviating hysteria by the MSM who platform people like Dr Joy is disinformation and should be ignored.

Exactly. But in FOIA requests, Dr. Deborah Birx told some that the USA would never match Sweden's Covid response bc of our obesity levels.

COVID-fat connection

Ability of virus to infect fat tissue might explain why obesity raises risk of severe disease

"Obesity is an established independent risk factor for SARS-CoV-2 infection as well as for the patients' progression, once infected, to severe disease and death. Possible reasons range from impaired breathing resulting from the pressure of extra weight to altered immune responsiveness in obese people.

"But a new Stanford School of Medicine study provides a more straightforward reason: SARS-CoV-2 can directly infect fat tissue. That, in turn, cooks up a cycle of viral replication within resident fat cells and causes pronounced inflammation in immune cells that hang out in fat tissue. The inflammation converts even uninfected "bystander" cells within the tissue into an inflammatory state....

"...Fat tissue surrounds our hearts, guts, kidneys and pancreases, which can be adversely affected by tissue inflammation. Ominously, the scientists found infection capable of driving inflammation in virtually every SARS-CoV-2-infected fat-tissue sample they collected and analyzed."

https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2022/09/stanford-medicine-study--sars-cov-2-infects-fat-tissue--creates-.html

African countries that largely skipped Covid, and weren't vaxxed:

- typically thin
- tons of Vitamin D (the sun)
- many had Ivermevtin for river blindness prevention

Wealthy Africans who had a western diet (i.e. fat) had a much higher infection rate. (Dr. John Campbell.)

"PRESIDENT TRUMP "It is very important that the Drug Companies justify the success of their various Covid Drugs. Many people think they are a miracle that saved Millions of lives. Others disagree! With CDC being ripped apart over this question, I want the answer, and I want it NOW. I have been shown information from Pfizer, and others, that is extraordinary, but they never seem to show those results to the public. Why not??? They go off to the next "hunt" and let everyone rip themselves apart, including Bobby Kennedy Jr. and CDC, trying to figure out the success or failure of the Drug Companies Covid work. They show me GREAT numbers and results, but they don't seem to be showing them to many others. I want them to show them NOW, to CDC and the public, and clear up this MESS, one way or the other!!! I hope OPERATION WARP SPEED was as "BRILLIANT" as many say it was. If not, we all want to know about it, and why??? Thank you for your attention to this very important matter! President DJT"

These are among the research hospitals that recommend getting the Covid vaccine:

Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, UCSF, Stanford Medical, Harvard Medical, UCLA Medical, Vanderbilt University Medical, University of Oxford, University of London, Imperial College London andTel Aviv University.

Naturally, although you would probably trust these institutions to treat you or your family member for a serious disease, you cannot trust their advice with regard to the Covid vaccination, or any vaccination, because they have a conflict of interest due to their relationship with Big Pharma, and because of that, they are deliberately exposing people to unreasonable health risks by advocating vaccines.

For advice regarding vaccine safety, I seek my medical advice from RFK Jr., who has an established life long reputation for trustworthy medical knowledge, honesty, integrity, morality and ethical behavior. I also seek medical advice from the learned medical staff of Substack University, as well as several BI commentators.

Yeah, that's a prestigious list. Surely institutions filled with brilliant doctors performing heart transplants and brain surgeries wouldn't be vulnerable to political pressure and industry capture. All about the science, right?

Ever heard of Vioxx? opioids? Thalidomide? smoking? (it took the AMA, FDA, WHO etc decades to publicly recognize the research linking smoking and lung cancer) HRT? All massive institutional failures. And we've got a couple more--namely statins and SSRIs--that will be recognized as perhaps the worst failures of all in the not too distant future. Then there are all the treatments that have been suppressed or ignored by your incorruptible authorities because they can't be monetized by Big Pharma.

Given your political leanings, the following example probably won't strike a chord but are you aware that all of your trusted health institutions are all in on the transgender "treatment" scourge? Yes, according to Grok, all of but one of them support puberty blockers for minors. (and save yourself some embarrassment and do some research before you post tripe about them being benign and reversible). They're also all in on the body mutilations known as gender-affirming surgeries, even for minors in some cases.

I see no need to rush for multiple reasons:

- puberty not finished (or even started for some; some are actually taking meds bc they're scared of developing)
- brain not developed until one is 25? Today w extended adolescence, probably longer
- it appears to be a fad
- the triage / counseling appears suspect at best

As a youngster I read numerous articles about the saga of Dr. Rene Richard's. I don't recall it being rushed or incentivised.

I watched the full interview of Dr. Jordan Peterson w de-transitioner Chloe Cole which I found interesting. He didn't talk down to her, and she's quite mature for her age. She described her path, insecurities, worries, and teenage logic. He said everything she described was well within the bounds of "normal" adolescence, and as a clinical psychologist would want to spend a year 'unpacking' her experiences and conclusions.

She was cheered on and encouraged by online 'friends' and others during Covid, but when she decided she made a grave mistake, all those 'friends' disappeared. Professionals said if she didn't take hormones blockers, she could commit suicide. (Allegedly overstated.)

Statins - I've seen lots of concerns raised about them the last 1-2 years. And no one ever mentioned the great nutrients in egg yolks, like lutein, choline, and zeaxanthin.

What a fascinating response. On the one hand, your positions seem earnestly expressed and reasonable for the most part. On the other, your points are peppered with weasel words like "some" and you managed to dodge the question that was asked of you. But what really stands out to me is that we have an unspeakable human tragedy occurring with these gender-confused individualsthe disgusting way their mental health has been exploited by progressive idealogues and their bodies maimed by woke profiteering doctors. Lives are being irreparably harmed, yet the only group you see fit to demonize is MAGA, not for harming these people but for engaging in what you deem as political opportunism.

Has it ever occurred to you that people can treat others with kindness and dignity even if they disagree with them? (Do MAGA folks always live up to this? No, but on an individual level where it actually matters, most try. Are your peeps really any better?)
That true compassion sometimes means not reinforcing another person's delusions or mental illness?
That leading these people astray by lying to them that transitioning will solve all their problemsmany which have nothing at all to do with genderis the real crime?
That facilitating a child to mutilate his or her own body is an unspeakable evil, and conversely, that speaking out against this atrocity is actually compassionate. (And no, this is not virtue signalling, it is virtue.)
That the dominant attitude of many gender-confused people is not to seek understanding and coexistence but rather to push their own radical, unscientific agenda on others and throw tantrums when they don't play along out of conscience or exhaustion?
That these attitudes are reinforced by constant indoctrination from radical progressives and that these radical progressives purposefully target vulnerable children? (If a Christian public school teacher proselytized your young child, I'd bet you'd go bat**** crazyand you'd have a pointbut somehow it's oknothing to see here, move alongwhen a mentally unstable trantifa "teacher" makes it her mission in life to surreptitiously sexualize and transgenderize my young child. I'm not supposed to be outraged?)
You admit that biological women should not have to compete against trans-women? If you really have compassion for them do you speak out for them among your crowd, or do you crumble like this coward?

Where's your compassion for the women and girls who are forced to undress with mentally unstable boys? (speaking of which, how about this new CA law which says a girl can avoid the fear and discomfort of undressing with "girls" with *****es if they admit to a mental illness?)

But let's get back to the main issue, the reason I brought this up in the first place. By your own admission, most of the people who "claim to have or think they have" gender dysphoria don't actually have it. The vast majority would grow out of it as they have historically if given time and proper care. But even if they didn't, this is clearly a mental health issue. Isn't it obvious then that the cautious, ethical medical approach would be to treat the mental health issues, not exacerbate them by affirming misguided feelings based on unscientific crackpot theories about gender? That in order to "first, do no harm" the medical professional should not rush into irreversible medical interventions with serious side effects when the long-term outcomes are uncertain at best? That at the very least, these interventions should not be performed on minors? Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, etc. could have stood up to the woke mob, they could have refused to profit from this abomination, but they didn't. They were tested and they failed and they continue to fail. Doesn't that say something about their collective judgment as institutions? So while individuals at these institutions may be highly skilled at treating sepsis or heart disease, collectively, as institutions, they have proven themselves to be thoroughly untrustworthy. We shouldn't trust them regarding the Covid gene therapies, not when there is overwhelming evidence against the "safe and effective" narrative. And deep down, I think you know it.

I know you won't read or absorb any of it because it's more than 2 sentences and doesn't have any memes, but here's what AI said when I asked it your question:

Scientific evidence does not show that unvaccinated Amish children have a lower rate of autism due to their vaccination status.

While some studies suggest autism might be less frequently reported in some Amish communities compared to the general U.S. population, this is not related to vaccination.

Key findings from research on autism and the Amish community include:

  • Vaccines do not cause autism. Large-scale scientific studies have repeatedly shown no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder, regardless of a child's vaccination status. The theory linking vaccines to autism originated from a fraudulent 1998 study that was later retracted.
  • Amish children do get autism. The belief that autism is absent from Amish communities is a myth. Studies have consistently confirmed that autism exists within the Amish population.
  • Apparent lower rates are due to other factors. The lower reported prevalence in some Amish communities is likely due to cultural factors, including:
    • Underdiagnosis: Many Amish children are homeschooled or attend small community schools, which means they are less likely to undergo the standard autism screenings performed in public schools.
    • Cultural reporting differences: Amish families may be less likely to seek or receive a formal autism diagnosis due to different health-seeking behaviors and limited access to healthcare.
  • Vaccination rates vary. While vaccination rates are lower among the Amish than in the general public, most Amish children do receive some vaccinations. The belief that they are an entirely unvaccinated population is incorrect.
  • Autism is a complex condition. The presence of autism in both vaccinated and unvaccinated Amish children indicates that the causes of autism are complex and involve a combination of genetic and other biological factors, not vaccination.

Amish children are far less likely to be diagnosed as autistic, not necessarily to have autism.

It's the same reason why autism rates would be lower in the past: people just weren't diagnosed back then. It's not because of vaccines.

Zippergate, I don't claim to have a much knowledge about this, so I am posing the following three questions for legitimate discussion:

1. Do you think it's ever possible that someone's gender can be different than one's sex at birth? Talking about the stories of "a man trapped in a woman's body" and vice versa. Not saying it's the case for everybody that claims it, but do you think it could ever be a legitimate thing?

(My thought is that it likely can be a real thing, but is probably fairly rare. The US medical and psychiatric community seems to be a bit too eager to get kids to "pick a side", whereas it seems like the "support, but proceed slowly" approach would be more warranted.)

2. How often do minors get surgical solutions for their gender dysphoria?

My understanding is that it's very, very rare (for minors) and is not done on a whim (thank goodness).

3. Do you think it would ever be okay for a trans girl/woman to compete in competitive sports with girls/women who were female at birth?

Because I think it wouldn't be a good idea in most cases, however...

+ I don't think it comes up as often as some people fear, but whenever it does, it gets publicity
+ I could imagine a scenario in which I wouldn't have a problem with it: trans girl has identified that way for a long time, fits in athletically with the competition (not dominant)... the kid just wants to participate in the sport.

And thus I think there should be guidelines and that it can be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Generally agree with this. I've moved against the trans side on the women's sports issue; I once thought it was fine if the athletes were following the right hormone regimens, but after learning more I think that's not so clear and needs more study. As such, I do not oppose keeping trans women out of sports (depending on the governing body) until that can happen. It is also a thing that gets blown up way out of proportion in right-wing media, but that's just the way of the world.

Similarly, for a time I thought that actual medical approaches with kids were pretty rare, but after learning more it does seem like different medical bodies bowed a little too heavily to trans activist pressure, got out ahead of what the evidence actually said, and started applying "gender-affirming care" too broadly. That needs to be reined in, though again . . . the outright bans being passed as laws in some places are also an overreaction. I don't know how many youths actually need this kind of gender-affirming care, but I don't think the answer is 0%.
Zippergate
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've taken us OT but I'll give you my take on your questions.
1. "a man trapped in a woman's body" What does that even mean? I appreciate your thought and perhaps that's the correct approach from a medical perspective, but here's what I'd tell a male friend if he were suffering from such a condition: If you have a man's body, male chromosomes, etc, you are a man. No amount of hormones or surgery is going to change that. Further, these so-called therapies have very serious, often irreversible side effects and many of the people who pursue them regret it. Not all men are manly men, and not all women are particularly feminine. You have value as a person made in the image of God; find your identity in that and just be yourself. I don't think it's wise to take on the persona as a woman, but if that's what makes life livable, who am I to judge? But understand that there are limits to the degree society can accommodate your desire to be treated as a woman. If we took this approach as a society, provided counselling, compassion and regulated social media for teens, everyone would be a lot better off imo.

2. AI gives me some numbers which you can verify for yourself. There are a couple hundred clinics around the country performing these therapies and tens of thousands of teens have received puberty blockers, hormones or surgeries. I'm sure It would be much more if not for the backlash. Sterilizing thousands of teens a year is not my idea of public health. Unfortunately, it is done on a whim. I've seen several interviews of people who used to work in these areas, often trans or gay themselves, but they left in disgust when they saw how teens were always affirmed in their trans feelings, readily rubber stamped to pursue medical interventions, and not given full disclosure of all the implications.

3. I really don't get it. They're not girls/women. Why would we want to steal the just rewards away from an actual girl/woman? >>There is nothing stopping a trans woman from competing.<< The number of cases really isn't the point. A woman invests years and countless hours to reach the pinnacle of her sport only to see a biological man who couldn't cut it against other men climb above her to the top of the podium? Case-by-case perhaps, but I would reject in every case I've ever heard of. (Btw, when my boys were young playing competitive soccer, there were a few girls competing in the boys division. They were quite good and no one had any problem with it. By U13, they disappeared.)

Getting back to the topic. Look up the Cass Review in the UK. There's been a radical change in UK policy in this area because of this review. They have essentially admitted that their previous policies were wrong and detrimental to the health of those suffering from gender-dysphoria. Surgeries were always rare, but now they've greatly restricted access to puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. How many tens of thousands of US teens must be sacrificed on the altar of progressive groupthink before our own medical institutions do the same?

If you haven't seen some of RFK's recent testimony before the Congressional committee, I suggest you do. Extremely revealing. Sequere pecuniam.

We can sit back and see how it plays out. I predict it won't go well and that Trump will gleefully throw him under the bus.

*A lot of people are saying RFK Jr.'s name is in the Epstein files. He got pretty rattled today when the Epstein victims subject came up. He pulled a Trump, "This is the first I am hearing about Epstein victims on the steps of the Capitol yesterday."
