Hang on a second - some of the smartest people around have been telling us since the beginning of this war that Putin is a human rights crusader. If not for the resurgence of anti-semitism in Ukraine and the poor treatment of Russian speakers, Putin never would have interfered with Ukraine. It turns out that as a result of the Hamas attacks on Israel have led to a resurgence of anti-semitism in Europe, so why wouldn't Putin take action?

According to these very smart people, Russia is stronger than ever and the war in Ukraine has only added to their already amazing military capabilities. And, they easily defeated "the best NATO has to offer" according to these same people. So one would have to conclude that Putin has nothing to fear from NATO.

Obviously you have to ignore the fact that Putin supports Iran and Hamas, both of whom desire to destroy Israel and kill all Jewish people in the world, but that doesn't really count because it's not part of historical territory that Putin considers meaningful.

Who do you think Newsom's VP pick will be?

A lesbian black or Latina woman. How does he explain away California's new $68 Billion and growing deficit?

California's growing deficit is irrelevant, what's important here is that his VP is a black lesbian.
Interesting that you think a VP's sexuality is important.

Defense secretary Lloyd Austin informed members that if they don't appropriate more money for Zelensky, "we'll send your uncles, cousins and sons to fight Russia."

Fight where? If it's Ukraine, when did Congress authorize that? And if it ain't Ukraine, Austin is a liar and neocon shill.

I read 10 books about tRump. Cohen's was the best because it was an eyewitness account of the dirty stuff. tRumpsters claim the book is just the lies of a disgruntled ex employee just like his testimony in legal proceedings. Problem with that theory:

Mobsters said the same thing about every rat that ever wrote a tell all book or testified at trial after getting a deal from the prosecutor. Those rats convicted dozens of mafioso. Why? Because their testimony was inherently believable. Everything that Cohen has ever said about tRump a jury would think: "Oh yeah, tRump for sure would do something like that."

The two stories that stuck out the most in my mind from Cohen's book:

1. When tRump made a lecherous comment to Cohen about a minor female in a bikiniā€¦. that turned out to be Cohen's daughter but tRump did not know it; and
2. When tRump had Cohen hire a hacker to get tRump a high rating in an online Most Successful Business Man poll and then tRump stiffed the hacker on his fee. Cohen noted that it was tRump's belief that only chumps line up at the starting line in any contest.

The stories I have recounted above will only make The Deplorables (and derailed Progressives that now want to break their toys and destroy the country because Bernie didn't win) love him all the more, as did tRump's comment last week that a general* told him he is braver than men who died in combat because he showed up for a debate with Hillary after his grab'em by the meow meow comment on that bus.

*Raise your hand if you think the schizoid General Michael Flynn told him that.

* I used to think that the most astute comment tRump ever made was that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose a vote. He was actually wrong. He could do a mass shooting on Fifth Avenue with and AR-15 killing 300 people and not lose a single vote. That is how much his supporters hate the principles upon which Western Civilization and America were built upon.

Way to go, man. True to the establishment Dem playbook:
  • Cling to the unsustainable Neoliberal status quo, despite the overwhelming popularity of Progressive economic policies;
  • Cling to candidate Biden -- now the most unpopular incumbent President in the history of polling -- because he's the favorite of the corporate donors -- NOT voters;
  • Disparage & fight against Progressives within the Party at every opportunity -- instead of fighting Republicans;
  • Blame Progressives for every electoral loss;
  • Blame the Voters for being "too stupid" to recognize their own interests.

Case in point: 80% of Democrats were in favor of a cease fire in Gaza. But only a handful of Democratic Members of Congress stood behind their call for peace; all the rest supported, and continue to support, Israel's genocide & ethnic cleansing.

Now, if you support a cease fire, or protest against genocide & ethnic cleansing, you lose your scholarship, or your job, or your tenure, for being "anti-Semitic."

Democratic politicians, including the Biden administration, have completely lost touch with their voters. But rather than looking at the data & responding with more popular policies and candidates, they're digging their heels in & flipping the bird at their own voters. Every day, they're effectively showing a big banner on the wall behind them that says, "WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK."

You might remember how the election in 2016 turned out, when Hillary & the Dems did the same thing. There's no reason to expect anything different this time, because the Dems haven't learned anything from their loss in 2016. Hillary still blames the Russians, or the Bernie Bros, or... whatever. She never takes any responsibility for Her Loss. And now she's advising the Biden campaign??? (:-o

In 2016, when the "Democratic" primary polls showed that younger / Millennial voters favored Bernie by a huuge margin, Hillary's campaign responded, initially, by calling them "stupid." Soon after, we were treated to a series of jokes that disparaged Millennials, usually distributed among the 55+ crowd by email.

Here's Why Hillary Clinton's Troubles Aren't Millennials' Fault

It sometimes takes a while for people to figure out that they're in an abusive relationship. And even longer to leave it.

And now, the "Democratic" election-losers have doubled down, cancelling the primary elections in Florida, N Carolina, and several other states.

Come ON, Democrats. You have to have some redeeming qualities, other than NOT being Donald Trump.

There are very few guarantees in life but you can pretty much guarantee that any story that Trump tells which begins with someone calling him "sir" is a completely made up story.
Quote:

Trump said in full, "A general, who's a fantastic general, actually said to me, 'Sir, I've been on the battlefield. Men have gone down on my left and on my right. I stood on hills where soldiers were killed. But I believe the bravest thing I've ever seen was the night you went on to that stage with Hillary Clinton, after what happened. And then that woman asked you the first question about it.' And I said, 'locker room talk!' It's locker talk! What the hell?! Locker room talk!"
Anyone who believes that story is real has already given away all of their money to a Nigerian prince.

Good thread on how Russia's military is (not) stronger than ever. The losses have been debilitating which is why Russia went from "Kyiv in 3 days" to taking mid-size cities in weeks to taking small unoccupied suburbs in months. Avdiivka has been a bllood bath for Russians but Putin thinks he can pretend that it's of some notional value he can work with his propagandists to sensationalize to support his election next year.

Nevertheless, Putin is all-in on the war.

And yet, Putin can't win this war unless the West abandons Ukraine. Ultimately Putin's investment in Trump may pay off as his GOP is standing in the way of that continued support.

And it looks like Ukraine is moving more and more forces across the Dnipro to bolster their beachhead in Krynky. Vlad is going to have to send more money through Cyprus to increase the noise.

These are the kind of suicidal military tactics that the Polish general has qualified as outright war crimes of NATO/Ukrainian military command committed against Ukrainian soldiers, who are getting decimated in Krynky:

These operations are glorified PR stunts, they've sent out soldiers in a suicidal mission across the river.

BBC article:
Quote:

Outnumbered and outgunned, one front-line soldier has given a sobering account of Ukraine's struggle to cling on to its foothold on the east bank of the vast Dnipro river.

Several hundred Ukrainian soldiers have made it there as part of a counter-offensive launched six months ago.

Under relentless Russian fire, the soldier spent several weeks on the Russian-occupied side of the river as Ukraine sought to establish a bridgehead around the village of Krynky. The BBC is not naming him to protect his identity.

His account, sent via a messaging app, speaks of troop boats blown out of the water, inexperienced reinforcements and a feeling of abandonment by Ukraine's military commanders. It highlights growing tensions as Ukraine's defence against Russia's invasion grinds to the end of another year.

"The entire river crossing is under constant fire. I've seen boats with my comrades on board just disappear into the water after being hit, lost forever to the Dnipro river.

"We must carry everything with us - generators, fuel and food. When you're setting up a bridgehead you need a lot of everything, but supplies weren't planned for this area.

"We thought after we made it there the enemy would flee and then we could calmly transport everything we needed, but it didn't turn out that way.

"When we arrived on the [eastern] bank, the enemy were waiting. Russians we managed to capture said their forces were tipped off about our landing so when we got there, they knew exactly where to find us. They threw everything at us - artillery, mortars and flame thrower systems. I thought I'd never get out."

Not a white, heterosexual male, that's for sure. Boxes to check:

+ woman and/or person-of color
+ respected for his/her experience in Congress
+ from a state that "compliments" California

Stacey Abrams? Hakeem Jeffries? Those are just off the top of my head. Would need to hear about some of the many other possibilities. Hey, how about Liz Cheney?

Wes Moore
AOC

But very likely, since we are talking 5 years from now, nobody on the radar right now

Anybody think the Republicans won't have 2 white male candidates in 2024 and again in 2028 and then have them continue to pretend not to be in identiry politics?

But that doesn't compare to the White House visitor logs showing the number of times Epstein visited the Clinton White House.
