Here's a new poll for the "Ukraine is ready to give up" crowd.

Thank you once again for your post. The responses to this obvious propaganda poll were outstanding.

Oh no, Yogi is once again clutching his pearls about PROPAGANDA in the RUSSIA thread! Give me a break.

Hey, as long as you admit you're posting propaganda, go right ahead. I'm happy to identify it for the easily duped.

1. I do not admit it in this case, because as far as I can tell KIIS is an independent and fairly respected polling outfit in Ukraine that does not always show rosy numbers for the government. Other than it being a Ukrainian org, what is the evidence that their polling is fake?

2. Even if it was, you fools have been up in here posting Russian propaganda for years, so I figure turnabout is fair play.

Here's what their poll showed in 2025, which is the last Gallup poll on Ukrainian support for the war. It is as diametrically opposite to the Gallup poll as this more recent poll was.

https://kiis.com.ua/?lang=eng&cat=reports&id=1551

I have serious questions about the efficacy of polling in general in 2026, so how good the quality of any poll in a war-torn nation can be is seriously questionable, but if I'm gonna pick a polling agency to trust, I'm damn sure trusting Gallup over the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, particular in an authoritarian state like Ukraine that hasn't had elections since 2019 and banned all opposition parties after the war began.

But continue with your propaganda. It's amusing at least.

1. This poll is actually not that opposed to the Gallup poll if you look at the question being asked: it shows there was indeed a majority of Ukrainians that were in favor of a negotiated end to the war, they were just skeptical of the terms that they could get in such an agreement and of Russia's trustworthiness to adhere to any negotiated peace. It also represents some erosion of support from the earlier stages of the war, as my earlier link demonstrated, and just as Gallup did.

2. I'm not sure why people are still citing a Gallup poll from a year ago like it's the gospel truth about Ukrainian public sentiment now. Plenty can change in a year, and this is the more recent poll.

Also, because Gallup has tracked Ukrainian opinion on the war over several years, providing a reliable baseline that showed unequivocally a strong trend towards peace through negotiation. Therefore a complete, drastic reversal in that trend is not credible, especially given that things have been getting a lot worse in Ukraine this year.

Except the KIIS polls don't actually contradict Gallup: they also show an increase in Ukrainian support for a negotiated solution. They also just show exactly what I've been arguing, that there is more context to that. Yes, they want a negotiated solution. No, they don't want to just accept Putin's terms.

Russia's current terms are not all that different from those negotiated in the Istanbul Agreement.

You currently have a regime in Kiev that will not accept nonstarters like Crimea being Russian even though their chances of recapturing the peninsula are nil, and its inhabitants want nothing to do with a government in Kiev that restricts their culture and language and that cut off their drinking water for years out of pure spite.

Polish head of state Donald Tusk leaks inside info about the scale of Ukrainian losses. I think that number, 27k casualties per month, is actually a low estimate, given that Ukrainian military leader Budanov has requested a minium of 35,000 new conscripts per month in order to just hold the line.

" 27,000 (!) Ukrainians killed and wounded every single month. Those are Ukraine's recent monthly losses, according to Premier Donald Tusk, speaking before the Polish parliament.

Now it's much clearer why Budanov said Ukraine needs to mobilize at least 35,000 people every month.

Now it's much clearer that Zelensky's claim about roughly 50,000 dead soldiers in almost 5 years of war is absolute bullhsit!"

There is a tight supply chain in place, the men grabbed off the streets are held in guarded camps where they will train for a couple of weeks then shipped under surveillance to the front where they will have commissars making sure they don't desert. They still lose a lot of deserters, but manage to coerce most of their captive into going to the front.

John Mearsheimer visited Moscow recently, and even dined w Lavrov. Good common-sense insights. The Black Sea being cut off has hurt their military and may turn it into a rump state. Drones allowed Ukraine to continue the fight 2-3 years longer. Russians view the Europeans, especially the British, negatively. He sensed no hatred towards Ukraine or Ukrainians, just Zelenskyy. Lots of ties between Russians and Ukrainians. Which parallels Putin's public comments.

Zelenskyys former staffer recently said the population of Ukraine has been cut in half; with half the remaining citizens retired. Four deaths for every one birth.

From the Russian Foreign Embassy in London:

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: For decades, we have sought to promote a friendly and unifying agenda with regard to our Western neighbours.

This includes creating an architecture of peace, equal and indivisible security, and mutually beneficial, practical cooperation across the vast space from the Atlantic to the Pacific. All of that is now history.

The West spurned it all, failing to learn how to interact on an equal footing.

The West made its choice long ago in favour of containing Russia, including through the forceful and brazen expansion of NATO towards Russia's borders. We often hear the EU leaders talk about the need to prepare for war with our country. This is the most popular topic in the speeches of today's European elites.

We have repeatedly made it clear that we have no intention of attacking Europe [...]

However, if Europe, which never stops speaking about preparing for war against Russia, attacks the Russian Federation, it will be a completely different war. A very short one. I hope European capitals and the entities that are now trying to portray themselves as united Europe heard this warning.

The Europeans are trying to make this into a new Cold War but a despotic petro state with a large army vs a moribund " Union" with a small army is not of global consequence- which is why the rest of the world declined to join sanctions. What it does mark is the end of " The West" as a hegemon which is why the Europeans- with declining economic power- are desperate for relevance.

There is no appetite in western Europe for war against Russia, big gap between the bellicose speeches of leaders like Merz, Macron and the popular mood. The strongest land army in Europe right now outside of Turkey is Poland, and they've already had 5,000+ dead. The leak by Polish PM Tusk of 27k Ukrainian casualties per month is an indication that he wants none of that action.

He could send out a warning, one hour to evacuate facility xyz, hit it with a Hazel, game over; two days later, hit more. Military production, say on a Saturday night when most workers are gone. Evacuate the cleaning and security crews.

Or maybe he concentrates on taking Odessa, and hammering Kiev.

Highlights:
Quote:

Russia's collapse is imminent only in the minds of idealists unacquainted with the economic realities of Russia and Ukraine. I am not here to defend Russia or to flatter it but wishful thinking is a trap, and in my home that trap is measured in thousands of lives. Wishful thinking today is painted in the colours of Ukrainian blood. And every article by a theorist-crusader against Russia someone who has often never set foot in either Russia or Ukraine and draws his understanding from social media is a small tragedy, a sign of degradation of our civilisation. For it is nothing but groundless wishing, dressed up to justify a terrible war on this continent and the daily suffering beneath it.

So I stand here and I beg you: stop believing the shallow, black-and-white narratives delivered to you by Zelensky's envoys and by activists financed by your own leaders. This closed circle of narratives, severed from reality, is not even an exchange of information it is a rigid vertical of messaging, a kind of self-censorship, as though you wished to hear only what you already want to hear.

Quote:

66% of Ukrainians want peace as soon as possible, according to a latest Gallup poll. Another 11% could not answer, likely out of fear of expressing their true opinion.

Growing anti-war sentiment is filling the internet and the courts, because in Ukraine people can be convicted, sanctioned, or branded as traitors simply for calling for peace or criticizing the leadership. The Ukrainian internet is full of voices of disagreement with the status quofrom volunteers, bloggers, and ordinary people. Meanwhile, television controlled by Zelenskyy's office presents the war as an unchanging daily reality that will never end.

So in summary, LOLOLOLOLOL at sycasey's poll. Propaganda at its finest.

Quote:

So let me be perfectly clear. Everyone who is willing to fight Russia with Ukrainian blood while ignoring the suffering of ordinary people is acting against Ukraine and against democratic values. To defend Zelensky's policies today is to defend a status quo that is an Afghanistan path for Ukraine and a historical shame for the West.

If you truly want to fight Russia, go to the front. Do not censor the Ukrainians who call for peace. To sit comfortably in the West and attack those who demand an end to the slaughter does not make you a hero. It makes you a hypocrite.
