Trump loves Putin, not freedom or democracy.

****ing *******!

"I mean, he's taking over a country for $2 worth of sanctions," Trump said. "I'd say that's pretty smart. He's taking over a country literally a vast, vast location, a great piece of land with a lot of people, and just walking right in."

Trump doesn't have a lot of love for Ukraine seeing as they were helping Biden get elected.

Anybody in America that is soft on Putin is supporting the destruction of America's democratic ideals.

This would be most of the traitors at Faux News who sound like RT more and more every day.
Also people like Candace Owens.

And Tulsi Gabbard. There are plenty.
Also the whole ecosystem of nominally lefty "alternative media" sources: Greenwald, Taibbi, Michael Tracey, the whole Greyzone gang. All have major egg on their faces over this. So obsessed with criticizing American government and American media that they failed to see what was happening right in front of their faces. Either that or they intentionally tried to mislead, but the result is the same.

You can see the same pattern happening with our Anarchist friend. Faced with the cold reality that his predictions about Putin not invading or not advancing have been proven entirely wrong (and the reports from US intelligence entirely right), he has to pivot and find a new way to blame the US government for the situation in Ukraine. Hey, I've got another theory: maybe the country that already invaded and occupied a part of Ukraine in 2014, created a massive military build-up in the ensuing years on their borders, and is now invading and attempting to take over the entire country based on false pretenses, is actually the one to blame here. Russia is at fault. They are the imperialist bully.

Of course Putin is to blame. But stop with the Putin "appeasement " b$llahit. I don't believe in sending Us troops to the Ukraine, neither do you, neither does Joe Biden. Don't pretend you have another position.

Here's what I would do.
Fire up North Dakota oil fields and all others. Supply to Europe.
Nobody buys or sells ANYTHING to them.
Build a massive international condemnation of Russia.
They are OUT of the international community.

No Olympics. No FIFA.
If you are not holding valid visas, you are mugged and sent on plane Back to the USSR.
Bank accounts, properties and all assets surrendered - held in trust until Russia returns to good behavior.

Biden gets re-elected as wartime president without firing a shot.

The Spetsnaz shadow unit will not allow that to happen. For Putin, today it's the Ukraine and 2024 it's Koko the Monkey with America's levers of power in his little monkey hands again.

I'll take my lumps & eat some well-deserved crow; I didn't think that Putin would be stupid enough to go on his rant about restoring the old USSR. In proving his NeoCon critics correct, he's crossed a dangerous line.

It remains to be seen if he'll attack a NATO Member country. I doubt that he will, as that would invite a direct U.S. military response. Personally, I don't think he's likely to take that step.

If he does, then this might be the first phase of The Great Realignment. Then China will soon be annexing Taiwan, and U.S. defense pacts with many nations will be put to the test. China would be Putin's partner in a massive realignment of the world economy, with the U.S. defaulting on its Treasuries held by China, the end of the USD as the world's reserve currency, and the collapse of the U.S. import-based economy.

All existing relationships between U.S. corporations and China will need to be reconsidered, since the U.S. is almost completely dependent on China and its neighbors for manufactured goods. The U.S. economy remains extremely vulnerable, and China is holding all the cards. The political alignment of Japan, S. Korea, Philippines, and all of Southeast Asia are at stake. Current U.S. satellites will be faced with a choice of alignment with the U.S. military empire, or China's Belt & Roads.

Even with all the Covid-related supply disruptions, U.S. corporations have done little to invest in U.S. domestic manufacturing. That will be disastrous for the U.S. -- IF this keeps going on its current course.

I've read quite a bit about the Ukraine and as you well know, though I'm no expert, I do read a lot. 90 % of the population in the Ukraine east of the 38 latitude are fully Russian, and are loyal to Moscow/Putin. They are treated poorly by the Ukraine athorities. The two regions that don't want to be under Kiev's control basically invited the Russian in for there protection. That Russian Mechanized army will cross the border and I'm 99% certain they will proceed no further west of the 38. Lat. Mr. tRump agreed with Vlads Putin's plans, calling them genius.?! Now there are about 12,000-15,000 Ukraine troops dug in between the border and line 38 so there might be some Ukrainian hair mussed. (Apologize for the in joke.). I hope we don't get too involved. It would cost the US thousands of casualties for almost no reward. At best the US could get maybe 6,000 troops there from the 82nd airborne ready brigade within the next 48 hours. Russia had about 140,000 troops ready to cross the border. The math isn't encouraging.

That 90% is a very much disputed number. The problem is that in these regions there has been a lot of Russian propaganda and destabilization going on, and the polling is not reliable. Without a doubt there are a lot of ethnic Russians in that area, but loyal to Putin? Not necessarily.

What about the attack on Odessa, the attack northward from Crimea, and the attack southward from Belarus towards Kyiv?

From everything I read, Putin is looking to overthrow the government, that means taking Kyiv. I've also read that Russia is in the initial phase of their plans, where they take what is easy (on their border), soften up the defenses of the opponent, they attack the non-easy places with local populations that don't want the Russians around.

I thought that yesterday but no longer. The scale is widespread plus an eastern partition doesn't fit the vision of his speech. He wants a puppet government in Kyiv. The irony is that he will also galvanize a relatively defunct organization- NATO- into action, plus the Ukrainians will hate all things Russian. Poland will also be lousy with missiles pointing at him.

Irrelevant: Trump and Biden (no matter how much people can't get past it, not everything is about right/left in the USA)

Irrelevant (IMO): The Sudetenland, That was one historical lesson, but I don't think it's applicable here.

Bad: Putin (Is any sane person not on board with that? Note I said sane.)

Relevant:

What do the people of Ukraine really think about all this and how strong are their opinions? (partial answer: it's more complicated than you might think... do you have any idea how much intermingling of the two peoples there has been over the past 100 years or more?)

What do the Russian people really think about this and how strong are their opinions and what about when their ATM card doesn't work anymore and their sons and daughters start coming home in body bags?

How information-isolated and bat sh*t crazy is Putin really and can saner people rest the controls from him if the going gets rough?

Discusses Russia's objectives and the demographic reason for they need to take action now. Unfortunately the sound quality is notch below what you would like.

Putin is making a big mistake here, which is part of the reason why we are letting him.

If the US has learned anything over the last 20 years it is that even a superpower can't occupy a country that doesn't want to be occupied.

Ukraine's long border with friendly (and very powerful) countries will ensure that as long as it wants to fight it will be able to.

It can and will outlast Russia if that is the will of the citizenry.

Russia's appetite for war will wane pretty quickly given that there's really nothing in it for them other than deaths and expenses.

Putin has proven that he is a relic. It looked like he might get somewhere with his threats and saber rattling but attacking another nation unprovoked is a bad look in an age when appearance is everything.
