Yugoslavia didn't exist 24 years ago. It had already broken itself up.

What NATO was doing there was trying to stop the Serbian genocide in Kosovo.

Yes, they do the same thing to Hillary by lying that she caused the Libyan civil war even though that was well underway by the time Obama/Hillary intervened to prevent a massacre by Ghaddafi. It's all to attack liberals who are staunch opponents of autocracy.

And before someone comes in here with a pedantic comment: yes, technically at the time Milosevic was still calling the combination of Serbia and Montenegro "Yugoslavia," but it was not the Yugoslavia of old. That had already broken up years before.

Finally, the military intervention actually worked (one of the rare times it did): the war ended, and there has been peace since. It's pretty weird that all the Putin stans are citing this relative success story as evidence of NATO being bad.

Not weird at all once you realize their stance is that anything the West does is bad and inferior to Russia.

I have noticed that Russia has stopped threatening nuclear war. I am guessing the US and China put them in their place.

It's been 7 weeks since Kremlin propagandist Bebo predicted Bakhmut would fall to Russia within days. If you can't trust Russian state media masquerading as "independent" observer in order to fool useful idiots, who can you trust?

Not that anyone needs any reminders but this is how the firehose of falsehoods works. Bebo is a state run account that posts dozens of tweets per day and is designed to be amplified by radicalized Americans in order to favor Russia's narrative. It is an incredibly effective ROI and will continue to succeed. The "blessing" of accounts like this through the stupid new Twitter blue check is the chef's kiss.

Russia has been making steady progress in Bakhmut, despite Ukraine having thrown the kitchen sink at them. Russia claims that Ukraine has lost 11,000 KIA in the month of February on the Bakhmut front alone.

This is one of the channels that has good, precise and neutral coverage of the frontline situations, using geolocation and open source intel. It has a short wrapup of the entire front almost daily, and it shows steady advances by the Russians in Bakhmut, which is still surrounded on 3 sides with the only way in and out being a muddy road:

NYT story about stolen valor, grift, corruption. Starring James Vasquez and Malcolm Nance ..bwhahahahah

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/25/world/europe/volunteers-us-ukraine-lies.html

"Mr. Nance has left Ukraine but continues fund-raising with a new group of allies. One of them, Ben Lackey, is a former Legion member. He told his fellow volunteers that he was once a Marine and wrote on LinkedIn that he had most recently been an assistant manager at LongHorn Steakhouse. In fact, the Pentagon said he had no military experience (and he worked as a server, the steakhouse said)."

As if the "civil war" in Libya started all by istelf, like a spontaneous volcano eruption... It was planned well in advance with rebels being trained and armed by the US and France (see the post above about the US military school in Africa that is an incubator of coups, similar to the School of Americas which produced the Contras and other cadres for unsavory Latin American regimes).

They turned Libya, the richest country in Africa per capita, the country with the best infrastructure on the continent, into a failed state warzone with an open slave market. Mission complete, or to paraphrase Hillary, "we came, we saw, he died, HAHAHA".

We know the details of the preparation of this destruction plan because we have the emails, where topics like the amount of gold Libya had in its central bank were closely covered. Qaddafi wanted to set up a regional, gold-backed currency, and had a lot of it in Libyan vaults - as did Iraq:

How in the world could us doubters ever distrust such a military genius as Malcolm Nance!! "That's a 500lb bomb, it's coming from the east!" "CRUISE MISSILE CALIBR, STANDBY!!!!" STANDBY

Bearister was impressed when he said "Fast Mover!"

You can tell really by Nance's quick deduction of aerial explosives how his talents could be used in Ukraine to sort out the Foreign Legion! I for one am saddened by his inability to have the legion running like a well oiled machine!

The Russians have been advancing steadily albeit at a fairly slow pace, due to Ukraine continuing to pour a lot of its military resources into this battle. At some point a few weeks ago it looked like the front was going to collapse, but Ukraine sent in large reinforcements, mostly from the northern sector and Belarus border, in addition to the usual flow of conscripts and foreign fighter contingent mostly from Poland and Georgia.

As a result, Ukraine's long-planned Spring offensive, where they planned to use new NATO equipment including several dozen Leopard tanks. thousands of newly trained troops and their remaining stash of ammunition, is being delayed. The defense of Bakhmut has been a drain on Ukrainian forces:

Quote:

Zelensky: Ukraine can't start counteroffensive yet due to weapon shortage

Zelensky acknowledged that the situation in the east of Ukraine was "not good" due to a "lack of ammunition," as Russian forces fire three times more shells than the Ukrainian troops daily.

"We are waiting for ammunition from our partners," he said.

follow-up:

More seriously, Trent Telenko has a recent thread on Russian casualties. Given the fog of war we have no real way to evaluate these sorts of claims but that doesn't necessarily mean that they should be casually dismissed in their entirety.

So while the numbers may or may not be reliable, it does bring a few things to the forefront that are obviously missing from Russian propaganda. The first is that when Russia talks about casualties, in does not count private military contractors (eg Wagner) or "independent" militias (eg LPR/DNR), each of which they definitely count as part of their fighting forces when they want to falsely project strength. I wouldn't be surprised if they also consider militia casualties to be Ukrainian casualties because the Kremlin is trying to salvage what has been one awful campaign after another by pretending to accomplish something other than barely treading water (and slowly sinking) for the vast majority of the past year of this unprovoked and extremely unsuccessful invasion.

I remain skeptical of either side reporting anything resembling accurate numbers but I think it's safe to say that Russia continues to not give a sh(t about its losses while Ukraine's are not taken lightly because they actually have something to fight for and a semblance of a goal in this war. Ukrainians should not be put in the position of having to defend their homeland and Russian mobiks should not be sent out in waves to the slaughter because Putin is a corrupt kleptocratic authoritarian. The vast majority of the people dying in this war, like almost every other, are blameless for their circumstances and have only Putin to blame for their circumstances.

What is blindingly obvious is that the Russian shills are desperately trying to avoid right now is anyone mentioning that the vaunted Russian offensive they were all crowing about a few months ago seems to have netted absolutely nothing. At best they will have Bakhmut to show for it as a pyrrhic victory - one they have been throwing waves of meat at for the last 8 months. This is after several months of non-stop chatter about how this war was about to be check-mated by Russia.

That's why we continue to see the firehose of falsehoods, and why they keep moving the goalposts to pretend like this grand offensive they've been promising for so long was really just a slow methodical campaign to take one small vacant city with no real strategic value to either side. What happened to the 300k men that Russia famously claims to have mobilized last fall? We'll never know because they've moved onto a new set of falsehoods. If you have any exposure to Russian propaganda through Twitter or elsewhere (including, I would assume, this forum if you are not as liberal with the ignore button as I am), you will see the pattern.

Ukraine Ammunition Supply Threatened by 'TikTok Cat Videos'

One of Europe's largest ammunition manufacturers has said it's unable to expand to meet new quotas and respond to Ukraine's increased demand because a nearby data center is using up all the electricity in the central Norway region to store TikTok videos.

The Norwegian group Nordic Ammunition Company, better known as Nammo, told the U.K. newspaper Financial Times that there's no surplus of energy for its Raufoss plant, where the new factory was planned.

The electricity of the region is being used up by a data center whose bigger client is TikTok.
