Russia is destroying Ukraine, by sending their military in and blowing stuff up. Not sure why people are confusing that for the United States.
We armed them and pushed NATO into Ukraine - even BHO knew that was a red line. The Minsk Accords were a fraud. The PMs of Germany and France are on record as saying Minsk was a stall tactic to prepare Ukraine for war. And American Big Ag is salivating over the prospects of cheap, world-class soil.
Then weeks into the SMO, a peace deal was reached between Russia and Ukraine - which we scuttled - via Boris Johnson. We wanted to "weaken" Russia. You know , Blinken and Sullivan were so smart... bomb NS pipelines and economic sanctions. We'll erase the memory of Afghanistan! s/
Where does Putin fit into your narrative? Elaborate on how you view his role and actions.
My "narrative", or historical fact-based understanding? The bloodthirsty neocons and Progressives conveniently forget history. When the USSR imploded, we reportedly gave Moscow assurances NATO wouldn't expand one mile eastward. Yet that was ignored. Russia gradually rebuilt, and NATO expanded eastward, setting up a collision. The US / NATO want to be the only superpower, and appear more focused on Russia than China.
The closest analogy I can think of is Russia previously setting up shop in Cuba. Which was an existential threat to America.
Neocon Victoria Nuland and our CIA appear knee deep in all of it, including slaughtering culturally Russian citizens in Eastern Ukraine. Eastern Ukraine is also geographically valuable. Putin previously took back longtime Russia territory Crimea, which butthurts some.
NATO in Ukraine was a redline we purposefully crossed. Our leaders have publicly stated they want to "weaken" Russia.
The neocons and some on the left view Putin as some war thirsty leader who wants to vanquish all of Ukraine and then Europe. Not sure how he had such plans when he sent such a small force to Kiev. He also allegedly signed the peace deal that we (via Boris Johnson) nixed. He's a historic figure, he rebuilt Russia, and this proxy war appears to have made Russia stronger while exposing NATO as a paper tiger. We have no statesmen who can fashion an exit ramp, and talk of using nuclear weapons isn't verboten. Ukraine is now sacrificing grandfathers, and NATO and Ukraine can't even supply ammunition. It's sick. There is no logical path to victory for NATO / Blinken / Blackrock.
