Not saying this will happen or that what's claimed here is true. I certainly don't think there will be any repercussions even if it does; the Hunter Biden fiasco has disabused me of any such notions. But...it wouldn't surprise me at all if US politicians, Blue and Red, have been on the take. The surest way to die a centimillionaire in America is to become a US senator.

If it is true expose and jail them all, regardless of party.

Sadly, given the state of our political system (and my cynicism) I cannot ignore the possibility that this is true.

The latter until proven otherwise. Always, the latter until proven otherwise. Corporate media fails that test over and over and over again.

US gov't is about to start the push about "Russian Disinformation". Be prepared. The Hillary Clinton Interview with Psaki really is pushing that yesterday. Fox News yesterday started in on it Trey Gowdy:"I can't understand this sudden push to stop Ukrainian funding, what is going on!!!???" The former intel host says....wait for it...."The russians are starting their disinformation campaign!" lol. The economist wrote an article about Russian Disinfo coming. So is the NY Times. Wooo boy. This is going to be insane again. The FBI is warning Facebook about it again too hah. The articles of course name their sources as "US officials".

We're 33 Trillion in debt with uncontrolled inflation of the dollar and if we don't keep printing money for Ukraine, its because the Russians.

The Biden administration should do a better job communicating. We've spent just about 3% of our military budget on Ukraine. Much of the "cost" of the aid os overvalued obsolete munitions and equipment that were just taking up space in warehouses but would never be used. We have a rigorous system of obsolescence but we don't typically destroy obsolete equipment and munitions - we just store them.

I'm all for reducing military spend but that doesn't mean that we should stop sending Ukraine our old gear.

I think the problem is that the politicians want to take credit for giving lots of aid so they don't downplay the value, they write it up instead to replacement cost which is irrelevant because, aside from artillery shells, we were going to replace everything as part of normal procurement.

Obviously I've been banging the drum on Russian disinformation and I stand by everything I've said but I would like to see Biden's team do a better job selling the benefits of Ukraine aid and being more transparent about the true costs - which are much lower.

As for the economy, it's doing quite well. We added over 300k jobs last month, continuing Biden's phenomenal record on job growth, and our GDP reportedly grew 3.5% last quarter which is pretty much on target.

Compared to most mature economies, the US is performing quite well and with lower inflation, which shows how well run we actually are.

The debt has increased by about $3 trillion in the last four months. Spend that much more than you take in and it's quite easy to get a booming economy...for a time.

I can see a difference between our current 3.7% inflation rate and the reported 400% in Venezuela or the 113% in Argentina. Since our current 3.7% is only slightly above our long term average inflation rate of 3.28%, I'm not overly concerned at this time.

3% of $800 billion is $24 billion. We've spent 3 to 4 times that much on Ukraine.

It is 1.6 years, not 1 year of spending and also includes non-military aid. It is higher than 3% but not 3 to 4 times that.

The US government doesn't depreciate assets. Items are valued at the amount they were purchased - not even replacement cost (in the case of items that have gone down in price like computer equipment). Inflation is not accounted for either for items that would actually cost a lot more to replace now than when they were procured.

Yeah, that's a fair point. It's still very much the case that the "cost" of the aid to US taxpayers is far less than the "value" used to describe it.

Our military readiness has barely been impacted and relative to Russia, we are far stronger now than before. In other words, we could meaningfully reduce military spending if we wanted to waste less taxpayer money, it that doesn't mean that aid to Ukraine is bad spend. It's probably the best ROI we have on our military spend.

In addition to severely depleted ammunition levels, several important weapons systems like the Javelins, M777s, Stingers, Patriot batteries and MLRS have been highly depleted and will take several years, if not decades, to be replenished.

Russia is far stronger militarily today than it was 2 years ago, they have whole classes of modern equipment that they didn't have, have incurred relatively low personnel losses (of the order of 10%) and are today the most experienced major military force in the world.

I'm happy you are not overly concerned. I think there is something unrealistic about your statistics, or maybe I don't understand what these statistics represent. immediately prior to the BLM riot period in history, I was getting a full meal at most neighborhood Chinese restaurants for ten to twelve bucks. i now pay $35-$40 for the same meal. I'm an engineer licensed in California to do Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering, so yes, I have studied math and numbers in my life. But I guess I'm no accountant, because in my world, 3.28% looks more like 328% when it comes to how much more I pay for dinner under Uncle Joe.

I respect both you guys, but modern military strength is probably susceptible to a smarter less well-equipped force, just like it always has been. The lightly armed Chinese Communists kicked our butts in Korea, and a bunch of coolies in sandals did the same to us in the rice paddies and jungles of Vietnam, and a bunch of guys with thick beards and nightshirts living in caves, gave us a hell of a fight everywhere we least expected it. And when we timidly left Afghanistan, we gave them a present of enough equipment to make them a real military force in that region.

That figures.

I heard that the official figures don't include food or gasoline. I paid $107 to fill my tank yesterday, and a couple months ago, I paid $6 for a freaking head of celery. Yesterday, that price was down to $3, and I'm supposed to celebrate, I guess.

It's not pretty. No expert on the past, but since lockdowns it seems like EVERYTHING has graffiti. Jobs continue to move away, Mayor Browns new housing west of the freeway helped a little, but not enough. Crime up, police understaffed, two major sports teams left, and Lake Merritt is a disaster. The grocery store up in the Montclair area is getting hit with frequent theft.

I ventured into some of the Flatlands recently, one area seemed to have two abandoned cars EVERY block and many roads a disaster. It's a Latino city now, which is part of the underlying graffiti issue. It appears there are numerous unlicensed taco stands / trucks across the city, undercutting legit businesses and schools continue to close due to enrollment declines. Pot use is everywhere, Lake Merritt, city streets, and in active in-use warehouses.

You obviously have no idea what uncontrolled inflation looks like.
Keep being blind to it, that will fix it.
I can see a difference between our current 3.7% inflation rate and the reported 400% in Venezuela or the 113% in Argentina. Since our current 3.7% is only slightly above our long term average inflation rate of 3.28%, I'm not overly concerned at this time.

You can really see the booming economy when you go to a restaurant. It's been that way for over a year now. My area in New Jersey has higher restaurant prices and full dining rooms and lines out the door. I picked up some sushi yesterday and I had never seen the place so busy. Had to wait in line just to pay for my takeout.

My experience in LA is not the same. Restaurants are not doing well and many have closed.
