Putin doesn't believe that Ukraine has a right to exist. Although he initially may have been deluded enough to believe his own musings on Ukraine that they would want to fall under his autocratic regime, I would assume he has realized that Ukraine, like all former Soviet republics, is uninterested in joining a corrupt kleptocracy. Maybe they don't see the attraction in Russia's abysmally low life expectancy for men - which doesn't even account for the war.

That being the case, we are seeing more of a scorched-earth approach to the war as it drags on. Dropping millions of flutter mines is consistent with that strategy. Putin is fine with Ukraine becoming uninhabitable, what he isn't fine with is people in Ukraine benefiting from a better relationship with the West. To that end, we are seeing more and more civil infrastructure attacks and attacks targeting residential and industrial areas with no legitimate military targets (this weekend saw more of in Kharkiv). Just like hundreds of thousands of able young men and women have fled Russia to give themselves a chance to prosper in the West, Ukraine is becoming depopulated. Loss for Ukraine, not really a win for Russia, except insofar as achieving their goal of destroying Ukraine's economy and society.

You will note that in order to avoid the world focusing on this genocide, the shills have been directed to shift their propaganda campaign to the Gaza front. Putin's imagineers have determined that it's better for Russia to grandstand on civilian deaths in Gaza than to allow people to realize what he's done in Ukraine. That's why you are seeing a shift in the numerous vaguely named Russian state media trolls on twiter (Bebo is currently the most popular but they are numerous) who have devoted a portion of their misinformation toward Israel.

Another Russian activist has mysteriously died in prison. We don't yet know whether he had some sort of accident (do Russian prison windows open?) or if there will be a different explanation. I assume that the Russian propaganda ops are working on it and will distribute the talking points via discord server. Expect those talking points to arrive here at some point.

Russia has also been airing torture confessions from the people they claim carried out the Crocus tragedy.
