All of the major European leaders have acknowledged it was a ruse to build up Ukraine to take on Russia. Why do you ignore this?

Lloyd Austin said we have to "weaken Russia".

Colonel MacGregor and others claim the Blackrocks of the world want to carve up Russia, and Big Ag wants in on Ukraine. Blackrock makes money destroying Ukraine, rebuilding it, rebuilding stockpiles, and financing it all. (Blackrock senior officials became senior officials in the Biden White House and staffing.)

I think most of these leaders were worried about Russia's own military buildup and wanted to strengthen Ukraine as a bulwark in case Putin decided to try taking land.

Then Putin proved them right to be worried.

The situation now is a lot more fluid, with the Russians stepping up their attacks.

I'm going to guess that so long as USA media is not reporting on Ukrainian atrocities, Trump could care less what happens over there.

This Epstein stuff is a good smoke screen. Tariffs and ICE, too.

If an atrocity is reported, Trump will SAY he cares and will do something. But he does nothing.

Meanwhile, Putin knows he can continue.

How much money is Trump making on the side all this time?

I don't recall that. Four months ago chatroom aficionado Scott Ritter said Zelensky would be removed in two weeks.

Yup. Ukraine may well lose, but I don't pay any attention to what MacGregor has to say about it.

The war was lost when it started. Idealogues like you have little common sense.

Witcoff is in Moscow now, the Russians might have a final offer. There is more of a sense of urgency with the Trump administration as the situation is getting more untenable for Ukraine. However, Zelensky is not onboard, Trump will have to twist his arm and put pressure on NATO hawks, assuming he is OK with a Minsk plus plus type of agreement.

It's always amusing when ideologues call the kettle black.

Depends on how you define "lost." It doesn't look like Russia is getting control of Kiev, for example.

That wasn't the goal, nether is Poland or Western Europe.

You're revealing your lack of knowledge about military tactics. The dead body exchanges, sadly, prove their tactics worked. 1.8 million KIA UKR, an equal or larger number injured / amputees, and millions fled the country to save their lives.

How would you propose that anyone besides Putin could have avoided these deaths?

Honor Minsk I.
Don't stage a coup w CIA.
Don't shell culturally Russian Ukranian citizens.
Don't outlaw the Russian language and the Russian Orthodox Church.
Don't try to "weaken" Russia.
When Putun sends demands (negotiation), reply.
Don't sideline peace negotiators.
Don't assassinate peace negotiators.
Don't have a Nazi battalion at your core.
Don't cancel the Istanbul peace accord.
Don't put a dozen CIA bases on the Russian border.

If we did "what Putin wanted", we would not have had five million Ukrainain widows and orphans, Ukraine would have been largely unscathed, and would still be the largest country in Europe. But instead we did what Nuland, Zelensky, McCain, Boris and co wanted, and in the end the result is so much worse.

Putin wants Ukraine controlled by Russia.

Colonel MacGregor convincingly argues the exact opposite, that Putin doesn't want to rule a hostile area.

Eastern Ukraine is mainly culturally Russia, and also has the most valuable resources. The large Dnieper River makes a natural dividing line, and he gains four oblasts. On top of this he wants a neutral zone, and no NATO in Ukraine.

I think it's Professor Mearsheimer who said there are 5-6 related areas that the EU / NATO can use to continue their unrelenting quest. The West can't comprehend that they lost, and did so in a historic fashion.

I wouldn't call it "convincing."

Putin would love all of Ukraine, as it feeds his rebuilding-the-USSR fantasy. What many people never got is that it is very doubtful that he ever had any intention of moving further west. Hitler / the Sudetenland / policy of appeasement and all that... nice history lesson, but probably not applicable here.

I suspect he doesn't want to make it literal Russian territory (at least not yet). He just wants to install a government that will do what he wants. That's why he was so mad when Ukraine tossed out the previous guy and he decided to take Crimea.

Putin was ready to sign the Istanbul Peace Accord that would have left Ukraine intact in early 2022.

Putin would gain:
- Crimea recognized as Russian
- no NATO in Ukraine
- security guarantees

No land. We and the UK sent Boris Johnson to scuttle the deal.

FAFO.

This is like the dude that gets dumped by his girl ten years prior, they never did the deed, they never really meshed, but he is still pinning for something that will never happen or work. It's over, it was never meant to be.

Kind of sounds like the Orange Man is backing away from his previous threats to impose secondary sanctions on Russia if Putin doesn't agree to a cease-fire.

Meanwhile, a BBC Verify analysis published on Wednesday showed that Russia has more than doubled its drone and missile attacks on Ukraine since Trump's inauguration in January, despite the U.S. president's claims during the 2024 campaign that he would swiftly bring the conflict to a close as soon as he returned to the White House.

They are happy. The region is 67 percent Russian, 15 percent Ukrainian and 12 percent Crimean Tartar.

BTW, jilted Ukraine subsequently cut off water to Crimea. An ugly breakup.

Putin visiting the USA is a big change.

The Biden administration supported an International Criminal Court arrest warrant.
