I checked the article. I agree with part of it, that Trump's invasion of Venezuela is a clear violation of a rules-based international order and that furthering this kind of foreign policy basically endorses the kind of world that authoritarians like Putin would like to live in.

So what if he works or worked for RT? Do you think these videos aren't real or are staged?

This type of manhunt on the streets of Ukraine has been going on for 3 years now, with increasing frequency and intensity. These videos have been published on Telegram by Ukrainians who are revolted by the forced conscriptions. And if it wasn't for people like Chay Bowes here, we would have never known about it. Why aren't CNN or the NYT reporting on this?

And what is the "pro-West" position here? War to the last Ukrainian, just like Lindsay Graham or Victoria Nuland advocate?? How in the world is that good for Ukraine.

Yogi loves going after me for the backgrounds of my sources. I figure turnabout is fair play. A guy who is literally employed by the Russian government is probably a bit biased.

Yeah, if people in Ukraine are feeling fatigued about the war then I don't blame them. But ultimately it is Putin's war and only he can stop it. Framing it as NATO's fault is the propaganda piece from Russia's side. If the Russian army left Ukraine there would be no war.

Yes that was dumb, but it also puts lie to the claim that NATO was trying to start a war with Russia. A bunch of member countries are still buying oil from them and you think that NATO is about to attack? Come on.

"Feeling fatigued about the war" is one hell of a euphemism for a country that has lost 1.5 million men and whose economy has been levelled.

The Ukrainian regime and nationalists who run that country don't even want to concede Crimea, they want to keep fighting until they pry the last conscript off city street. Their population is hostage.

There is no doubt about the outcome of this war, keeping it going would be like extending WW1 to 1920.

The main reason for this line of thought is that you have been misinformed about the very nature of this war. Ukraine's losses have been massive, 8-10 times Russia's. The capitulation that is going to come after another year or two when the Ukrainian army will be completely depleted is going to be far worse than a settlement today, which Ukraine can still get.

As to the reasons for this war, the Kiev government never tried to seek an accommodation with its large Russian minority and engaged in a strong-armed campaign of de-Russification, glorifying 1930s Ukrainian nazis like Bandera. This was never going to fly in the east and south of that country.

You guys have been saying that Ukraine is about to fall for four years now. I think the truth is that Russia actually can't do better than their current stalemate in the eastern provinces. They should concede.

Because in the intervening years he made a bunch of other claims that did not come true but you keep treating him like he's some kind of sage. No, he's just a convenient academic figure you can point to in support of your own pre-determined pro-Russia stance. He was a correct stopped clock one time.

That assessment by Mearsheimer is not just a "claim", it is fundamental analysis of the situation and dynamics of the Ukraine war. He might have gotten some technical or peripheral details wrong but his fundamental analysis from 2015 was incredibly prescient.

This is a tactical military assessment based on incomplete information. What only NATO insiders knew in early 2022 was that Ukraine had amassed an army of 60,000 troops that was ready to overrun the Donbas rebels. This prompted the Russians to intervene right away.

This does not change or detract anything from Mearsheimer's big picture analysis of Ukraine, he did predict, using his own terms, that "Ukraine was being led down the primrose path by NATO", made to believe it could beat out Russia with NATO's wonder weapons, crush the Donbas rebels, reconquer Crimea and maybe even go beyond that after regime change in Russia. He asserted that the result of this would be "Ukraine getting wrecked", which is exactly what is happening now. He has been very prescient in this prediction.

So what if he works or worked for RT? Do you think these videos aren't real or are staged?

Yogi loves going after me for the backgrounds of my sources. I figure turnabout is fair play. A guy who is literally employed by the Russian government is probably a bit biased.

Yeah, if people in Ukraine are feeling fatigued about the war then I don't blame them. But ultimately it is Putin's war and only he can stop it. Framing it as NATO's fault is the propaganda piece from Russia's side. If the Russian army left Ukraine there would be no war.

"Feeling fatigued about the war" is one hell of a euphemism for a country that has lost 1.5 million men and whose economy has been levelled.

By Russia.

For entirely predictable reasons that any serious geopolitical analyst will acknowledge.

You don't need to keep throwing the same Mearsheimer video at me again, thanks.

It's kind of staggering that 4 years into this war his basic analysis and prediction from 2015, which turned out to be true, still have not registered.

And then many years later he said Russia wouldn't attack about a week before they did.

Congratulations on his one kind of correct prediction among many that were wrong.

I'll never forget the democrats becoming the party of Dick Cheney after the neocons were so unpopular for everything D*ck did during his tenure. Like, they embraced the worst parts of neoconism in order to get Trump lmao.
