Yep, same professional protestors that flooded the streets in 2020 in the BLM riots. They don't care about the cause, their goal is just to cause havok. The cause is convenient to get bodies out there so they can do things like throw bricks or light buildings on fire with cover. That's why they are violent to media, if they catch media in there filming faces they will assault them. Tbh I haven't paid much attention to these protests because they all are the same now.
Maybe you should read a few news stories before you start tossing around accusations of brick throwing and building burning. I haven't followed things very closely either, but I would have noticed pictures of burning buildings.

The BLM protests were much more meaningful in both numbers and legitimacy because they were protesting something that was happening in this country. They of course did bring out all kinds, including paid agitators and elements of mayhem (with both protesters and counter-protesters participating) which aren't present now.

The current campus protests are quite different. They don't' have much mindshare with Americans and they don't even really know or care why they are protesting.

There is very little violence in these campus protests, just mostly slacktivism and hackey sack in the quad. Lots of pointless low energy stuff like Harvard students intermittently fasting for Gaza (12 hour hunger strike LOL).

They're having fun though!

In solidarity, I conducted an 18 hour hunger strike last week before I had blood drawn for testing. I like to multitask my fasting when possible.

This seems to be an organic, campus-based event of students who do "care about the cause" and are protesting peacefully, as opposed to going around and burning down downtown city blocks. As well many of these protests are being forcefully suppressed right now, unlike during the BLM circus.

The stuff that's being reported on astroturfed conservative sites is no better than the kind of propaganda you have on MSNBC or Fox.

All it takes is one video to spark violence, we've seen it before man. They've already blocked bridges, the day the GG was shut down must have been a nightmare for you guys down there. I just don't buy these "organic" protests anymore. Social media has made it so easy to organize these things now that you're essentially putting out the call to every type of person. They are rarely like local campus gatherings anymore. So then every cause turns into near Vietnam style protesting lol. Like I said, I don't want us funding anybody anymore.

Our country is so messed up atm, the suggestion of giving money to Ukraine and Israel is laughable. The US is coughing up 100B for ukraine, and I noticed that in the UK, they are giving Ukraine 500 million. Russia is such an existential threat to Europe that they can't barely be bothered. I love the selling point they're dropping on Americans too about how Israel is a huge supporter of our arms industry, and I'm thinking ..okay and? So if they shop in the US we give them 20B? How do americans get in on this types of purchasing power lol. I'll take my million dollar cut for shopping at Safeway.

Obviously I find a lot of the tactics/arguments behind these Columbia protests stupid, but correct me if I'm wrong: they are basically just occupying one block on campus? One that people can easily walk around and otherwise go about their business?

(source)

Not sure that this requires a major police response. Yes, legally the school can call for it (trespassing and all that), but is it really worth the trouble?

I hope this person claiming to be a UCLA professor isn't representative of the faculty quality there. She is hysterical and can't even utter a single cogent thought. She's rambling about genocide but can't even articulate how this war constitutes genocide. Here's a thought for these types of clowns. A state led by Hamas does not offer freedom, prosperity, or anything except a radical dictatorship. If that's what these people are advocating for, they should try living and protesting in Russia, Iran, Syria, and North Korea and report back on how that goes if they even make it out alive.

USC just cancelled their main graduation ceremony because of the anti-Israel protests. Surely, at the least these are disruptive protests, right?

This discussion stems from the political prosecutor's use of the obstruction law on the Jan 6 protestors, not whether or not the police were making distinctions on the spot. You took this off course.

I didn't make it to the end but I didn't see any untruthful statements. Where I think he's missing the point is that he is focused pretty heavily on Ben-Gurion and ignores all of the hostility from the Arab League nations.

Imagine if someone was focused on immigration in America and only talked about the cartels and MS-13. It's not necessarily untruthful, but it doesn't tell the full story.

Folks protested on January 6 because a massive amount of votes got counted late in battleground states, almost all showing for lying Joe, which swung the election in his favor.

So we are talking about on Jan 6, when the mob attacked police and stormed the capitol with the intent of disrupting Congressional proceedings for the traditional peaceful transfer of power in America and you are upset that some of the mob wasn't violent when they entered the capitol and succeeded in delaying Congressional proceedings and they are still being prosecuted.

Some protestors who entered the capitol were not violent and charged with the obstruction law. Others did not enter the capitol, were not violent, and were charged with same. They should charge them with what they actually did as there then isn't much of a limit to who can be charged for this.

These protests always include a mixture of peaceful people with good intentions and a violent, radical component.
