If you look at the progress China has been achieving in leading technical, industrial and scientific fields, such as AI, material sciences, semiconductors, robotics etc, their advances in military tech become credible.
There is a media bias that tends to underplay China's advances in those fields, case in point with AI:
That's actually a fantastic illustration why Western media's bias on China actually hurts the West more than it does China.
Deepseek is only "startling" if you based your understanding on China off reporting by the likes of The Economist, who keep picturing a China as a… https://t.co/HUbcnrhfiD
That was the basic Bolshevik program of class warfare, intent on wiping out the upper classes, "kulaks" or established rural peasants and clergy in order to "usher the proletariat into a new era". That type of class genocide was carried over in the USSR mostly under Lenin and Trotsky then by Stalin, from 1917 through the early 1930s. Anywhere from 20M to up to 55M purged.
Mao did his version, although it wasn't nearly as extreme as the Bolsheviks', with most of the deaths coming more from poor planning and ideologically-driven incompetence rather than from a more deliberate extermination program as seen in 1920s Soviet Union and Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge in the mid-70s. All these incredibly bloody revolutions were influenced by the French Revolution (which conducted its own genocides) and the writings of leftist extremists like Francois-Noel Babeuf, whose work Pol Pot studied in his 4 years as a student in Paris.
The more direct purges in China occurred when the communists took over and again during the Cultural Revolution (1966-76), whose excesses helped usher in Deng Xiaoping's era of reform, setting China on its current path of economic development. China's rise was enabled by the collaboration of western oligarchs led by the Rockefellers, who saw the outsourcing of US industry as a great financial opportunity and bought into China, Inc, at the ground floor. They are today part owners of giant industrial conglomerates like CITIC.
The traditional cultural elite of China survived Mao's era and gradually took over the CPC. Xi Jinping hails from a traditional family from Xi'An, the Chinese heartland and birthplace of Chinese civilization. His family was very harshly treated during the Cultural Revolution, with his father imprisoned for over a decade and his sister harassed to death by suicide. That is why people who believe that the Communist Party of China is communist are deeply misguided, it is a lot more like the Confucian party of China, rooted in Chinese traditional values.

You know, I believe Trump would do something like this. He's got it in him.
Trump is a chaos agent and a disruptor, but I don't think he's the Queens version of Pol Pot.
Why China is leading the EV industry, their local market is huge, and growing fast. Surprised at how small the market in Japan and S. Korea, this handicaps their EV industry.
A surgeon in China successfully removed a lung tumor from a patient located 5,000 km away by operating a robot remotely from Shanghai. The innovative procedure took place with the patient in the city of Kashgar, and the operation was a success.

I can beat that. When I had surgery for a ruptured ulcer several years ago and spent a week in the hospital, the hospital took 16-18 months to present a bill for $75,000 to my insurance company. The insurance company pointed out that they were required to submit a bill within a year and denied it. They also sent me a letter stating I wasn't required to pay it either. I've never heard anything further about it, so it ended up being free. The surgeon billed separately and was paid.
As even Apple admits, the reason they manufacture in China is not cheap labor but superior manufacturing technnology and infrastructure
We have given them our manufacturing tech in exchange for their cheap labor and willingness to pollute their country. It wouldn't be surprising if they have surpassed our manufacturing tech.
Fox Propaganda now suggests that Trump is trying to break China's economy. How would that help us? You can't make this stuff up.

China is disrupting big pharma the same way Deepseek has blown up OpenAI's monopolistic business model.
Careful the people you post inside china...a lot of these guys that are inside china are working for the CCP.
The Chinese suck at propaganda, they are pretty transparent, when you look at their state media. There are some western vloggers in China who clearly are cheerleaders for China and the CCP but this guy is not one of them, his reporting is chock full of stats and most often uses western sources to form his analyses.
Same flawed assumptions that were used about Russia with the Ukraine war.
Watters: What that does to China, it collapses their economy. Mass unemployment. And then possibly the regime gets toppled. So if they don't want their regime getting toppled, they have to cut a deal with us pic.twitter.com/8a047cECy3
In private discussions hours before China announced new retaliatory tariffs, the Trump administration warned Chinese officials against such a move, according to a source familiar with the discussions.
Quote:
The Chinese were also told once again that Chinese President Xi Jinping should request a call with US President Donald Trump.

Instead, US officials woke up to news of increased Chinese tariffs and no request for a leader level call. Xi also made comments that only dug him in further.

"Kevin has lived in China since 2012, and works for Direct Equipment from Qingdao. Qingdao is a major port city that serves Shandong and Henan provinces, which is the source of most of DEC's construction, agricultural, and mining equipment, attachments, and parts. "
China doesn't really allow fair and impartial reporting though. He will use western sources if they can confirm what he already wants posted. But if he started posting a bunch of videos about things China is doing wrong, he wouldn't be living in China long and most likely would be in a prison cell.
I just scrolled through his last newer 15 videos..almost all of them are either pro china or anti-US/Europe. The one video he has named "The Big Winners from US Steel Tariffs: US Steel.......and Chinese ones" I started thinking oh he's got a positive US video, but no, it's actually mostly about how US tariffs are good for China Steel lol. Dude is an obvious white monkey.

He's covering China from the angle of business, industry and economics, and in that perspective, there isn't much to criticize about Chinese industrial policy, which has been, objectively speaking, a resounding success across the board, from machinery to semiconductors to EVs to AI. If say, you're covering the NFL in 1988 from the Bay Area, you're not going to have a lot of bad things to say about the 49ers, it would be easy in that situation to come across as a 9er shill, especially from the perspective of someone who dislikes the 9ers.
I can't say the same thing about US industrial policies, which have been terrible, or those in Europe, which are even worse. Any objective reporting on European or US industry the last decade would not be very flattering.
Look at Sam Evans, aka the Electric Viking, the Australian EV channel host, he is constantly gushing about Chinese EVs and dooming about Ford, VW, Audi etc. This does not make him a CCP shill, his reporting and analyses are supported by facts, not ideology (though he is ideologically biased towards EVs and against fossil fuels). Interestingly enough, he did get attacked in Australia for being a cheerleader for Chinese EVs.
Is Evans shilling for China here, or being an objective reporter?
Chinese manufacturers are exposing the markups on luxury goods and then offering to sell the unbranded item direct to the West. Even with tariffs, cheaper
