She was part of a mob that was using things to bash in windows and trying to break through barricaded doors. That means she absolutely was a threat to the police officer who is just on the other side of the door to Babbit's left. 100%.

Starting at the 33 second mark the mob yells out loudly - three times - "HE"S GOT A GUN." The guy on the left side of the screen in orange moves toward Babbit with his right hand extended in the universal "stop" signal. Wtineses stated that a "number of police and Secret Service were saying 'Get back! Get down! Get out of the way!' 12 seconds after the gun warnings she goes through the window and is shot (46 second mark).

Further, this video is either edited or otherwise doesn't show everything. Other video exists which shows the cop generally in front of Orange Stop guy with his gun drawn. My guess is he was maybe 15 feet from Babbit when we was backed up against the wall; he was probably no more htan 10 feet from her with his gun drawn as she approached the window. There is simply no way she didn't see him.

Even with the 3 gun warnings, almost certainly seeing a police officer with a drawn gun and other police warnings to get back / get down she chose to go through the window. That was her choice. This shooting was entirely her own doing and completely preventable by her.

We know now that Babbitt was unarmed. At the time, the officer didn't know that. To him, she may have had a gun or knife in her pocket. Certainly she was surrounded by an angry mob with weapons. The officer acted to defend himself and the others in the area.
