What a crazy Game 3. It felt like two games in one and Ohtani is pitching in a few hours.

Game 3 once again has incredible MAGIC.

In 2018, Game 3 at Dodger Stadium also went 18 innings.
A 3 - 2 win over the Red Sox.

7 hours and 20 minutes.
18 pitchers used.

Max Muncy with the game winning homer to left center (and like Freeman) on a 3 and 2 count.

Last night, 6 hours and 39 minutes.
19 pitchers used.

I was glad Koufax, 89, was there to see it:

Will Klein was the man. Not only did he pitch 4 scoreless innings and get the win, he did it quickly so we all can get to bed at a somewhat decent time.

Helluva game. Can't help but think the whole thing turned on the fact that the Dodgers kept their best hitters in while the Jays subbed them out for pinch runners and were left with a pretty weak lineup for most of extras.

Before last night, dude had pitched less than 20 innings in the bigs this season. His AAA era was above 6.00. What a performance on the big stage

My doyer fan friend was pointing this out live, definitely agree that put them at a disadvantage in the last few innings.

Give Toronto credit. This may wind up being an epic series.

Only 4 hits for the Dodgers.

Impressive performance by Toronto.
Best of 3 now.

Yes, saw that also. And that is why Toronto may win. Roberts is not the best manager, and I think I've heard that before also.

12 k's.

Going back to Toronto.

Dodger fans were still parking their cars in the first inning and it was already 2 - 0.

3 pitches.
2 runs.

BOOM!

And Mookie Betts has been admittedly "terrible".

I really don't know much about baseball, hardly ever follow the game, but how much of a factor was the Dodgers not having much scouting on Yasavage figure in his brilliant performance on that game?

Very little. He pitched in Game 1, as well. lol. He pitched 4 innings and faced each hitter exactly twice.

He pitches with an over 7 foot release while other pitchers average a 5'8' tall release. His sliders drops downwards. Dodger hitters, for the second game, were swinging at pitches dropping under their bats. They might just struggle with his action, period.

Apparently his slider acts more like a screwball.

Which makes sense. At least once last night I saw a pitch classified as a slider that I remarked did not move like a slider at all.

"In series which have a 2-3-2 format (like this one), teams who take a 3-2 lead by winning Game 5 on the road before returning home for Game 6 and 7 have gone on to to win the series 20 of 27 times (74.1%)."
Sports Illustrated

I assume those odds improve a bit for the Dodgers with Yamamoto pitching Game 6.
* Koufax had 15K's in Game 1 of the 1963 World Series against the New York Yankees. If memory serves, the Yanks had a couple of decent bats on that team.

The Dodgers suffer from home run swinging in October. This is what moneyball says to do but, in my opinion, what works against the average in the regular season, no longer works in the postseason. Teams that win in October are teams that make contact and put the ball in play. The Dodgers have created many unlikely pitching heros in the last decade from their fruitless swings for the fences.

That is true when the Dodgers win also. The Dodgers became a championship team after they acquired Mookie Betts in 2020. In the postseason he batted .296 in 2020 and .290 in 2024. This year he is batting .234.

The Dodgers need to move Betts back to the outfield so he can focus on hitting.

The guy is pitching intercontinental strikes, based on that graph above on the left. No wonder the Blue Jays have won.

To me the signature moment of the World Series was spotting this guy behind home plate in Toronto. He was bad jujuing the Dodgers' Japanese players.

* "The "bad luck" associated with Colonel Sanders in Japan is a superstitious curse known as the "Curse of the Colonel," which began in 1985 after fans of the Hanshin Tigers baseball team threw a statue of Colonel Sanders into the Dotonbori River. The team had been unsuccessful in winning a championship since that event, leading fans to believe the statue's owner had cursed them."

The numbers do not support your theory. They showed a graphic during Game 5 that the team who hits more home runs this post season is like 35-9. I forget the exact number but it was very lopsided.

Amazing that they come back from that 18 inning defeat!!!

This reminds me of the year the dodgers beat the A's. Everyone thought the A's would kill them. My dodger friend was totally arrogant afterwards lecturing me about Team and Togetherness.
So, if the dodgers lose, I'm going to send him a reminder text. Looks like the dodgers are not so great, Gary.
