"Finally, although there are a series of statutes authorizing U.S. Coast Guard and Navy vessels to undertake drug interdiction efforts on the high seas, most prominently the Maritime Drug Law Enforcement Act of 1986, those statutes, too, are focused on the use of ordinary law enforcement authoritieswhere the Coast Guard (and, in some cases, the Navy) are authorized to stop and arrest individuals under their auspices. It may well be that, once in the midst of an interdiction operation, those U.S. ships would have the legal authority to respond to force with force. But that quite obviously isn't what's happening here."

As the article you linked stated, he offered his retirement at 75, which is a requirement. This isn't some shake up like you so claim. It's standard procedure in the church.

However, it is a good example of the Pope putting his cronies in positions of power.

To your first point:
Drug trafficking kills over 100,000 Americans annually (far exceeding terrorism), constituting a chronic "armed attack" on national security, per UN Charter Article 51 interpretations applied domestically.
Panama 1989 serves as precedent: Bush invoked self-defense against Noriega's regime for endangering U.S. lives via drugs and harassment, without imminent conventional attacks.
Limited strikes (not full invasions) fit within Article II's scope for protecting citizens, as in Reagan's 1986 Libya bombing for terrorism support.
If "imminence" requires waiting for drugs to reach U.S. shores, it ignores preventive logic upheld in post-9/11 OLC memos.

To your second point:
Yep, pretty cool that he used to be a Dem and realized how wayward the left had become and is now Republican.

Trump has called this a HOAX.

No worries.

The Denny's closures come after the "America's diner" chain said in a 2024 investor presentation that it would shutter about 150 underperforming restaurants by the end of this year. The company closed 88 diners last year and reportedly has plans to close between 70 and 90 more. There is no formal tracker for the Denny's locations that have shut down.

"They said they decided to shut us down due to a lack of sales," Ashlee Fisher, who managed a Denny's in North Platte, Neb., which is now closed, told KNOP in October. "We have been struggling to find people willing to work overnight shifts for the last year. They were paying more to keep the store open and not making a profit."

If everything is so affordable, \tThen why is Denny's closing so many restaurants?

More options, competition, tired brand, unfair competition, changing demographics. If a buyer can get a fresh breakfast burrito at half the price, often prepared or delivered by illegal workers, why go spend 45 minutes at Dennys?

I was at a construction site in Atherton and a newer SUV rolls up and a chaparitta starts slinging food out of the back to the crew. Then a second car pulls up with a different set of goods to sell.

I imagine 7 / 11 has also taken a hit.

CNN just delivered a brutal reality check, saying Democrats in the minds of the American public are now "lower than the Dead Sea," with congressional Democrats sitting 55 points underwater overall and an approval rating south of 20%, while independents have them at a staggering negative 61 points the worst showing Quinnipiac has ever recorded in decades of polling making it clear this isn't a bad news cycle but a historic collapse in public confidence that even CNN can't spin anymore.

Some of my earliest memories are going to Genoas with my Italian immigrant mother. They always gave me a salami slice. Later it was our pre-hike stop for sandwiches. First abode was on 40th east of Telegraph. To show you how ancient i am, I not only recall the streetcars that ran down 40th, but also the terminus of the Sacramento Northern, which was just up the block.

I think Trump has wanted to avoid it coming out because there are people still in power of countries he's attempting to get trade deals with, stop wars, etc. I think its all very geopolitical. I think the Epstein files should be released anyway but I understand why potentially it isn't from the presidents perspective which btw, is why Biden didn't either. I think a certain country with ties to AIPAC and Saudis is heavily involved.
