Really seems like the regime is going down.

Doubtful, looks like about 20k-30k people out, in a city of 15 million. Pro-regime demos like the funeral of the last president killed in the helicopter crash drew millions.

We'll see!

You're missing the point entirely. Even if it's only 20-30k, it's happening in Iran. Against the government. Tides are changing brother, you seem like you're against this movement. Why's that?

You're a bit naive, and not very well-versed in modern history. Look up the protests in Syria circa 2011, are Syrians better off today? Or to stay in Iran, those against Mosaddegh in 1953.

The codename for the Syrian regime change operation is Timber Sycamore, that of the Iran overthrow, headed by Teddy Roosevelt's grandson Kermit, was called Operation Ajax. Those would be good starting points to brush up on your modern history knowledge.

I don't want the US involved at all here. This is something the iranian people have to deal with. They need the Iranian armed forces to step in an protect them. Maybe the US can work with the Iranian armed forces to give them the tools to protect the people.

I don't think the US getting involved would be helpful, other than perhaps in a humanitarian way. Just interested in how this will play out.

It's difficult, but I think if the Iranian military steps up they should be able to protect their own people from the IRGC forces.

Based on Minot's posting history, he's more non-interventionist than Trump.

Trump is a populist; there must be some things he has been doing that even you secretly approve of.

It is the year 2026. I am teaching my daughter how to file her taxes on a paper 1040 EZ form just like I did almost 40 years. I had thought by now I'd be teaching my daughter to do this online as President Biden was implementing a free online direct file service. However Trump scrapped that forcing people to pay the industry to file online. So my daughter is doing paper filing like the stone age. Trump's America.

Nearly 300,000 Americans used IRS Direct File in 2025.
You can thank Trump's Treasury Secretary/IRS Commissioner Scott Bessent for doing away with it.

I believe IRS Free File still exists.
But you have to have household adjusted gross income under $84,000 to qualify.

I was not aware of the distinction between Direct File and Free File. Maybe there is still hope for a free online service. I found this good write-up of the Federal situation. New Jersey will be a bit more complicated as the state had partnered with Direct File (now cancelled) for free filing.

Is there evidence that the Iran protests were part of a foreign operation, or is GreyZone just running cover for brutal authoritarian regimes (as long as they happen to oppose the West) as usual?

There is a legitimate, organic protest movement in Iran but it is largely fueled by popular economic grievances exacerbated by the steep decline in their national currency, as opposed to demands for freedom, as the mullahs have in recent times substantially relaxed personal freedoms like the right for women to not wear the islamic veil.

As with the claims about the CIA in Ukraine, the claims here look pretty thin. Social media posts and overly aggressive news reporting? Okay.

I have little doubt that Israel would like to encourage a regime change in Iran, but . . . meh.

3 major media sources from Israel and a former Secretary of State openly state that Israel was a major actor behind the recent riots in Iran, and you call these claims "pretty thin"?

All a person can do is look at the evidence with their own eyes and judge themselves. Everything else is an agenda. Also making sure the video of what you are seeing is what it claims seems to be quite important these days.

He questions whether quotes from former officials are legitimate, but he believes every Twitter rando that posts a video about ICE.

All depends on which agenda is being served.
