They all just forward the links to each other and pretend as if it's fact.
He and the others like him on the board can be shown over and over that their facts and sources are not true, and STILL not believe it or dismiss it as a one off. They can be shown that their sources are in effect propaganda and disinformation, and they will STILL go back to those very sources for proof or validation that that these same sources are in fact legitimate and that it is the "liberals" and MSM that is part of a deep state fake news. They basically ask the liar to tell them if they are a liar or not.
At best they arrive at a place of "you have your biased news sources and we have ours." As if facts are a 50/50 proposition or a matter of interpretation or that the bias in media deviates exactly from some imaginary median position. They give equal credence to blowhards who speak in vague conspiratorial terms off the top of their head using buzz words and dog whistles (take these as earnest opinions worth consideration), while dismissing well-researched journalism by professional sources supported by court documents and witness testimony under oath.
The lack of scholarship and research and the separating of spin from sense is a discredit to a Cal education and would get a failing grade in a high school civics class. And yet they still crow here, proud of displaying their commitment to ignorance. I have said it too many times already, but in the internet age everyone gets an opinion and can find those who agree with their opinion, and so dumb people don't get the resonant feedback that they are in fact dumb...or at least behaving stupidly. The social corrective of shame is ironically neutered by social media.
For some reason that I can not explain, the conviction to an ongoing and shifting conservative narrative has lost all connection to truth and Constitution and yet the adherents regurgitate it with venom as if their ego is at risk. Are we just watching a massive display of denial and cognitive dissonance, a national cult, solely out of a grudging refusal to budge an inch or to let Liberals be right about anything? What imagined cost do they have in their head if they actually step forward and speak the truth and say this is wrong? That this is somehow a Liberal victory rather than a victory for justice and country? That if you do not support Trump at every illegal turn then there will be abortions in the street, gay wedding cakes in every bakery, guns instantly confiscated, Christianity banished, an illegal brown person in your bed, and who knows what other imagined "evils"? Is Trump perceived as the stop gap finger in a cultural dike? Why him, the least best representative of their actual stated values?
It's all absurd on its face, but how else do we explain the cult of personality and the abandonment of shared American values for a cheap tweet-a-day sloganeering belief system?
