This is 100% consistent with the predictions of climate scientists for decades; they predicted that as the planet's atmosphere & oceans warmed, there would be many more intense storms all year 'round.
BTW, the predictions of global cooling in the 1970s came from the worldwide use of coal for generating electricity. The particulates from burning coal blocked the sun, and actually cooled the planet. However, when the U.S., EU, & other nations transitioned from coal to natural gas, the cooling effects of the coal burning diminished, while the warming due to the "greenhouse effect" (because of increased concentrations of CO2 & methane) remained.
