Iowa's largest city cancels classes due to cyber attack

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) Iowa's largest school district cancelled classes for Tuesday after determining there was a cyber attack on its technology network.

Des Moines Public Schools announced Monday that classes would be cancelled for its 33,000 students after being "alerted to a cyber security incident on its technology network."

The district said in a news release that it took its internet and network services offline while it assessed the situation. It didn't describe the nature of the attack or say whether sensitive information might have been stolen, and it didn't immediately respond to a request for further information.

"Because many technology tools that support both classroom learning as well as the management and operation of the school district are not available at this time, the prudent decision is to close the district for the day," the district said.

The district will decide Tuesday afternoon whether to hold classes Wednesday, spokesman Phil Roeder said.

One of the dumber arguments I've ever seen. I assume that the tweeter isn't a lawyer or if she is a lawyer, the only person dumb enough to hire her is a Trump, because her argument is gibberish.

At the time in question, Trump was in possession of national security documents in violation of federal law. Even if he had declassified them, which he definitely didn't, he would have been in violation of law because some of the laws he broke had nothing to do with classification status. If you agree with the substance of her tweet, it means you believe he improperly took national security materials for personal reasons which is galling.

We don't yet know the facts surrounding Biden's office's possession of classified materials. If I were as dumb as a Trump supporter and as corrupt, I would claim that Biden can't possibly have an issue because he is literally the President and can do whatever he wants with classified and/or national security information. I would say good luck getting a conviction against a sitting president who is in possession of government documents during his term in office. Setting aside the fact that Biden can retroactively declassify anything he wants, Trumpers were arguing just a few months ago that Presidents are all powerful and can't violate any laws.

My actual position is that the two cases are mostly different because there is no evidence of criminal intent and Biden's team appears to be diligently cooperating with authorities. Garland hasn't appointed a special counsel, but he has directed a Trump-appointed US attorney to oversee the investigation and I assume that no one in the Biden administration will put any political pressure and you certainly won't hear anyone making threatening public statements.

However, if Biden knowingly took and possessed these documents following his term as VP, I do believe he should be held accountable and that an impeachment may very well be warranted. I think our public officials are out of control and the fact that our congress let Trump get away with as much as they did does not bode well for democracy.

It's time to start reining in misconduct, regardless of the party, and, based on your recent post history, I am going to assume that you agree with me here. So if Biden has to be a sacrificial lamb to show future administrations that they aren't above the law, then so be it.

Harris will be fine until the 2024 election when I assume someone else will be the democratic nominee to take down Trump again.
