James Lindsey speaks to the EU about Woke, it's history and references, how it's applied in the west, how it is socialist and doesn't hide it. This speech is brilliant imho.

I stayed awake for about the first four minutes. Dude doesn't seem to know what a genus is. Maybe review his taxonomy, but I sort of get the point he is trying to make... sort of. Speaking of not knowing, I don't know what "queer theory" is, nor do I care to, but it sounds like something that exists to frighten insecure people. No, I'm not going to google it.

The United States is a capitalist country and I don't see that changing. We should strive to provide equal opportunity and equal rights to all of our citizens. That doesn't mean everybody is going to end up equal.

As a white, male heterosexual, I feel pretty confident that people like me are going to be okay.

You watched 4 minutes then feel confident enough to comment about it. He explained why he uses the word genus as part of his example to make it easier to understand. He literally explains what Queer theory is and how it is tied into "Woke" or Socialism with American Characteristics. At least attempt to watch the whole thing before commenting for goodness sakes.

I made an attempt; it's just that I couldn't do it. Really, I feel I got the gist. Queer Theory: Whatever the heck it is, some people hear that and get all scared for the future of mankind. I hear it, shrug my shoulders and go on with my life.

The explosion in young teenager sex reassignment surgery, mastectomies, castrations, online cheerleading, and youth grooming doesn't concern you?

Apparently surgeries are being performed with the 'tough' requirement of one letter from one individual, professional training unspecified.

Please provide numbers that convince me that the number of surgeries you mention exceeds the number of people who will feel better about themselves after having undergone
them.

How about we reserve barbaric, unproven, hyped fad surgeries for those over 25? And require some real professional requirements by trained professionals? (One doctor disagreed with the Chloe Cole procedures, and they brought in another doctor to rubber stamp the procedures. She is now de-transitioning.)

Sweden study shows higher rates of suicide for transgendered after surgeries.

Okay, if we increased the age, would you stop busting on LGBTQ?

I don't think so.

I don't think so.

I'm busting on a corrupt medical system that first shackled us with an experimental, unproven, deadly vaccine, and now an explosion of fad child sex change operations. In fact, many of these young girls, if left alone, will mature into confident lesbian women who contribute to society, instead of science experiments!

And some teens and pre-teens will grow out of their angst, confusion, insecurities, social media haze, etc., as most do. I just read last week a teenager died during a sex change operation. Insane!!!

I "love" the way you people are able to latch onto the RWNJ vocabulary words so quickly ("detransitioner"). That you name a particular individual would seem to indicate that it is a rare happening and also that you may have an almost bizarre fascination with these situations.

In this one case (which I do not know to be true), I would be against the surgery part at such a young age.

Movielover loves to use loaded language such as "large increase in cases" or "explosive growth" and then he refers to one or two instances over and over again. I don't think it's a significant problem but I'd love to see some actual reliable numbers on how often this happens. ML is always silent about that.

So I refuted Big C, and now there is a new line of attack. Typical. Then you go on to twist words. I'm not an expert in this field, but I know when something stinks to holy hell. Pre-teens and teens having sex change operations? Why? Then the psychologically twisted young adults in social media cheering them on. Why? I don't sense compassion. With some, I sense they are trying to validate their own non-conformist sexuality. Why does it seem to happen more to girls (like bulimia), is there a link to autism, and does the AMA require a certain clinical process to be followed?

I'm not hating or obsessed, I'm asking rational questions about new ghastly, life-changing surgeries.

Yes, there's been an explosion, coincidentally after the lockdowns, isolation, and social media contagion?

I'm glad you would be against surgery in "this one case". How about other teenagers?

Dr. Peterson claims the research on the topic is slim. I read up on it a bit 20 years ago, but it was difficult for clinical researchers to conduct follow up interviews as these subjects led very haphazard lives. Dr. Peterson claims an expert on the topic in Canada said this. If you leave these teenagers alone - no ghastly surgeries or hormone blockers - some grow out of it, and a sizeable portion realize they are lesbian. Two normal, rational, healthy, not life-threatening choices.

But Big Pharma makes out with new lifetime patients. Right? FTR, whirlwind academic Dr. Camille Paglia agrees teenagers should be left alone. (I believe Dr. Puglia is lesbian. I've always liked her.)

Personally, I am on record on this forum as saying they should slow down with that stuff, for prepubescents, and de-emphasize gender identification and have them all be "kids". If a kid chooses to identify as one gender or another, I don't have a problem with that, but don't pressure them to do it, either way. I haven't completely thought it through, but I think I am against gender surgery on minors. Puberty blockers might well be a different story... not sure about the medical implications.

As far as I know, irreversible gender surgery is not happening on minors -- or very, very rarely happening -- in the US. That is my understanding, but I am not sure. I would largely be against it. Let's go slowly and think it through. It's basically a new idea for our society as a whole, so let's not do things too early that cannot be reversed.

The gay conservative, Andrew Sullivan, who regularly appears on Bill Maher, agrees with me on this. More precisely, I agree with him (pretty sure he has thought about this more than me).

EDIT: Dammit, I posted this on the Breaking News thread, didn't I? And not for the first time! Sorry, concordtom!

Please provide numbers that convince me that the number of surgeries you mention exceeds the number of people who will feel better about themselves after having undergone them.

Yeah and, also, I'm pretty sure that isn't even happening with "young teenagers". Like, not at all.

False. Detransitioner Chloe Cole was put on hormone blockers at 14, and had a double mastectomy at 15?

I "love" the way you people are able to latch onto the RWNJ vocabulary words so quickly ("detransitioner"). That you name a particular individual would seem to indicate that it is a rare happening and also that you may have an almost bizarre fascination with these situations.

In this one case (which I do not know to be true), I would be against the surgery part at such a young age.

Edit: According to Chloe: "T [testosterone] + [hormone] Blockers at 13, Double Mastectomy at 15, detransed at 16"

Thirteen!

Where should these go, a Gender Dysphoria all-inclusive thread?

We do live in interesting times. Even if a teenager chops of their own peenus, they can still can get pregnant and experience the wonderful sensation of aborting a baby.

I'd be curious to learn about your sexual history growing up, your interactions and develop as a child, your religious moralings.

What is it about alternative gender and sex norms that gets you?

I have nothing against alternative sexual orientations or experimentation - for consenting adults.

I see nothing healthy in this new fad of pushing sex change operations on confused CHILDREN who haven't even completed puberty. Ideally, young adults would wait to at least 25 to have such barbaric surgeries.

Apparently getting off the hormone blockers also causes new medical issues, and being 'trans' can lead to a never ending process of surgeries and medications.

FTR, I'm straight, but have been to Twin Peaks, Rawhide, Elephant Walk, and a few other gay bars. No biggie.

Sounds reasonable at first blush.

You post about the issue A LOT and it's something I NEVER think about so I wondered why you do.

I should say… my freshman year roommate lives in the LA basin and I chatted briefly on FB with him a couple years ago. He said something about "my daughter " and I said, "wait, I thought you had a son". He responded, "she's transitioning".

So, I'll have to get back in touch at some point and inquire about it all. In the meantime, since I know NOTHING of it, I will trust John and his ex-wife to have guided his child with wisdom and compassion and an ethical responsibility.

The child was probably 14 at the time (???).

I have had three acquaintances / work colleagues tell me their children (all girls) believe they are trans the past 3-4 months.

I definitely believe social media plays a huge role, and possibly lockdowns (isolation). Our society is also now hyper-focused on attention, 'look at me' behavior.

OR
MAYBE…

For all of your prior existence there has been a shunning of people who were "different ", though they were always out there, struggling.

AND
MAYBE…

Since you grew up where that was the norm, you grew comfortable with it and think it's right and proper.

SO…

Now that things are changing, YOU think it's all wrong. But that's only from your perspective, not from the perspective of those who live the experience.

Rather than apply your logic from your perspective, which really has NOTHING to do with the issue, WHY NOT just let those affected figure it out for themselves with their families?

THAT SAID

I can agree with you that we should be concerned with how societal changes in values impacts us. For instance, the liberalization and common acceptance of drug use (Tim Leary envisioned "expanding the mind" a good thing) has been a massive dump on millions and millions of human lives! And no doubt the new online identity age with accompanying loss of privacy and ability to learn/mistake/try-again will have its drawbacks (why this anonymous board is a plus!).

I am simply not focused on the "trans" issue. It's a minor minor player in what's going on in our world.

You've made your rants, and I appreciate your rational post above.
I'd be cool to read fewer posts which insult and demonize folks who are merely seeking to be mentally better tomorrow than they are today.
They aren't bothering any of us, are they?
Really?
I mean, does any of this touch you, other than you're just sitting in your room looking out the window and don't like the bright pink cars driving by?

Peace.

The transgender issue is being REALLY stirred up lately on far right-wing media and social media... also on the other side, among the New Woke Left. As if it were the number one issue impacting our society. (It isn't.) People who spend a lot of time listening to or reading far-to-one-side media have become super riled up about this now and are up on all the latest jargon ("detransitioning", "top surgery", etc.).

Most people don't understand the sudden fascination because we have not clued in to demagogues enough to get us riled up.
