that is reasonable... there are so many common sense solutions regarding this situation, the people that keep trying to be "ideologically pure' kind of irk me

again, it seems quite rare that trans females are taking spots from biological females, but every time it happens, we hear about it... also rare that muscular "pat" brutally dominates demure muffy, but we hear about all of those, too

t4k, how common is this, based on what you see? how much of a big issue should we be making out of this? I will respect your experiences from the real world
Really good question and hard to say because I never asked kids/families about it. So ultimately, I do not know. But two years ago (?) one of the coaches for the club I was previously President of shared with me that she accepted a trans player at tryouts that season (she knew because parents asked if she was okay with it). After I resigned from coaching last December I heard about drama with my former team which revealed that about 40% of them are gay. I didn't know. So (shoulder shrug) maybe I'm just oblivious to LBGQT stuff on the field because I don't care/never ask???

But even Navratilova must know biological females and transgenders aren't interested in competing with biological males at the highest levels.
Just like biological females are not interested in competing with biological men/trans females. It is a question of who's rights are protected. I coached girls for so long ... I have strong feelings about protecting their rights and opportunities, while also providing opportunities for trans athletes.

Also, I have had numerous athletes that were good enough and competitive enough that they absolutely would welcome the chance to play with boys if the timing of their sports didn't conflict. Many of them came to me in softball from baseball and would have no problem going back. They are studs. I cannot emphasize enough how far women's sports has come. (back when I was at Cal a group of us 6' former HS hoops players would routinely beat Cal female hoops players in pickup games at RSF...the women today are light years more advanced athletically than back then).

As luck would have it there's a story available on conservative media about a trans softball pitcher today. The athlete led their team to a big win with a 14 strike out game. Certain media describe the player as 'towering over the competition' and 6' tall. I was able to do some digging. The 17 year old transitioned at 9. Their recruiting profile list a height of 5'7". Their recruiting profile shows good, not elite, pitch repertoire and speed. Based on my experience the pitcher profiles as a CC or D3 type prospect (if at all), and that assumes they have consistently similar game results as these state playoff results. It's a good example of not just trusting upset parents or media reports.

Flip side story that's in this same general space…a close family member and other biological females are forced to share a locker room with a trans male at work. Employer happens to offer a gender neutral locker room but this employee refuses it, instead insisting on their right to use the women's locker room. Bonus twist: some of the coworkers are observant Muslim females who have since obtained representation. Interesting case from a legal perspective and tough spot for the employer.

Let's get serious, the #1 female tennis player today would get crushed by the #300 ranked male, no contest. The top women's soccer in the world would get beat by my former Sunday league pub team.

Cool story.

The US Women's national team and other competitive women's soccer teams scrimmage against 13-14 year old boys, and often lose to them badly. The world champion USWNT lost 5-2 recently against a local under 15yo club in Dallas:

The one time the USWNT took on a team with men, they played a team of retired veterans from the 5th tier of English/Welsh football, this was the result:

You take a USWNT star like Megan Rapinoe, who is of average height and weight (5'6", 132lb) for the women's game, she can't win a 50-50 ball against an average-sized man or guard him on a set play, every corner or free kick in her half would become a scoring opportunity. If the USWNT played an active 3rd or 4th tier semi-pro men's team, they would get blown out by double digits.

They don't even match up well with a decent men's amateur team. I had many pickup games with members of Cal women's team and played in coed leagues with top local female players, the physical differential is very wide. The video above makes a good point about this, stating that the fastest woman of all time, juiced out FloJo, who run a record 10.49s 100m, would not even crack the top 7,000 in the men's 100m.

Even after drinking for two hours?

Our games were mostly Sundays under the scorching midday sun in the 925, barely enough time to down a bloody mary and get there from the City, lol.

This was a pretty competitive league, mostly 30-something players with former NCAA experience and lifelong amateurs/soccer bums like me. We had a former international from Mali, and he wasn't even the best player on the team.

What's your solution?

Ball sack checks by a creepy old "official" that will most likely risk expensive lawsuits or an expensive chromosome test performed on ALL athletes?

If it's the latter, someone is going to have to pay for that.

But you dont care about an actual solution.
You've made that clear.

Cal88

You wouldn't have to perform a test on all athletes, just the handful of trans ones.

For starters, don't allow them to compete with biological women.

It is absurd to use your rationale to allow biological men to compete with biological women. We could therefore start with not allowing known biological men to play sports against biological women.

Season ticket holder 1977-81, since I got old enough for my parents to let me go with my buddies to the stadium at the other end of the park... The club finally got its s*** together and figured out that instead of wasting fortunes on superstars past their prime, they should instead get a good coach and develop homegrown talent. This team has an average age of 25, gels at the right time and dominates the competition, it looks like a dynasty in the making.

Nice, as the Brits like to say, you must be buzzing. If the other clubs in Ligue 1 don't up their game, PSG appears to be deep enough where they can use their B team for most league matches and their A team for CL. I think losing Mbappe made the team more dynamic by allowing other players to be more aggressive offensively.
