what happened last season when the then #14 ranked california golden bears played the san diego aztecs in the las vegas invitational?

cal got outhustled, failed to win the 50/50 balls, complained about the refs like candy azz soft broken down bitches & got physically abused in the paint in blowing a 14 point lead to lose decisively 72-58 with zero heart in the 2nd half...taylor & i sat courtside in the 1st row on the floor directly across from the bears bench & we could clearly see guys whining about the fouls & turning inwardly with selfish/fractured frustration/little concern for their teammates, the guys did not compete & they did not stay together

the aztecs are led by the talented duo of 6'4" 190 lbs jeremy hemsley (20.7 ppg with a lethal 60% on 3 pointers & 3 apg) & 6'4" 210 lbs trey kell (18.7 ppg & 4.7 rpg)...it is not known if uber talented 6'10" 215 lbs malik pope will play tonite or not with a tweaked knee, he's a game time decision

the 2016 aztecs are among the most physical defending teams on the west coast & head coach steve fisher is trying to play more up tempo...the bears don't gotta perfect basketball, that's not gonna happen, they just gotta compete on every ******* possession in what will most likely be a very close & physical game

sammy singer & charlie moore gotta tell their guys to remain calm when san diego state goes on a run or two, weathering the storms is part of the deal for successful basketball programs...and yeah the bears gotta have fun (the outcome of this game is not gonna wipe out poverty & famine on earth), it's fun to play in nationally televised big games... let's relax & celebrate playing basketball on a basketball court with a basketball like little kids playing with your best friends at the playground ...cal basketball's identity is all about lockdown championship d with energy/intensity, that's who we are

we're gonna find out tonite if these bears are all grown up or not

let's do this

relentlessly compete (who wants this more?)#

criminal dana altman (aka captain kurtz) had led his utterly corrupt oregon basketball organization with its powerful corporate that makes underhanded deals in the dark that is loosely affiliated with a mediocre school with no academic purpose/values to its 2nd loss of the young season & further into the heart of darkness

it's ironic that the oregon loss is to a highly respected academic institution with a honored tradition of educating its student athletes & future leaders

Tyler Dorsey, one time recruit who spurned Cal. Looking for Pro Pay Day posted another pedestrian performance.

FG - 1 -7, 3Pt - 0-2, FT - 0-0, Reb 8, Stl - 1, TO - 5, PF - 3, Total Points - 2

If he keeps going like this he will prove, "it's not who you sign but who you don't sign."

Early season Pac 12 favorite now finds itself 2 - 2 in early season action with losses to Baylor and Georgetown.

the bears did not bring in the 1st half the necessary defensive energy/intensity (slow in reacting/closing out on 3 point shooters), offensive indecisiveness (which resulted in travels, errant passes & aimless passing of the ball around the perimeter) or physical aggression (not finishing on attacking the basket) to compete with a healthy san diego aztecs tonite at the sparkling new (but in a kinda sterile way) golden1 center

despite out rebounding the aztecs +13 the bears turned the ball over a sloppy 16 times while the aztecs turned it over only a remarkable 5 times which resulted in a 17 point halftime hole that we couldn't dig out of despite young ivee (19 points, 11 boards & 2 blocks) & charlie moore (17 points but 4 turnovers) building some rhythm/chemistry in the 2nd half

a few of the pluses were ivan getting his game legs & timing back in the 2nd half, roger knocking down all 6 free throws & the twin towers kam & king combining for 18 boards & 7 blocks (but they gotta finish better around the rim)...a strength & branding identity of this team is gonna be monster rebounding/blocking shots

reality is that this team is limited without jabari bird in the lineup, the bird man (along with marcus lee) did not make the trip to sacramento

sat court side next to mayor kevin johnson & his family (his mom georgia is a lotta fun & wife michelle rhee is an education reformer & a serious candidates to be a cabinet appointee as the next secretary of education), asked him when he's gonna move to washington dc & he smiled & told me "not sure about that yet"

yeah if you ask me when is this team gonna reach it's full potential i would answer the question in the same way, this is a work in process

the sun will rise tomorrow morning, guys will still be attending classes & furthering their studies at the #1 ranked public (#3 overall) university in the world & everybody in the basketball program needs to work a little bit harder

let's do this

did i already mention that the corrupt oregon basketball organization lost its 2nd game of the season to the georgetown hoyas 65-61?

arizona wildcats (4-0) were behind after the 1st half & despite only 25% (4 of 16) on 3 pointers they rudely woke out of hibernation 71-55 over the northern colorado bears...the wildcats committed only 6 turnovers, that's the key to winning a lot of games but getting out rebounded (29 to 26) by a mid major at mckale is a danger warning sign

washington state cougars (3-2) got balanced scoring with 5 guys in double figures but turned the ball over a fatal 19 times in getting bumped off the road 88-79 by the loyola ramblers...drunk drivers are killer whales, it doesn't have to be that way

notre dame fighting irish turned the ball over only 6 times in a drug free 89-83 victory over the colorado buffaloes (3-1) in boulder...john denver is dead & dnp

uc davis aggies (4-1) stung the sacramento state hornets 81-72 in the prelim game at the golden1 center

southeastern louisiana lions turned the ball over 20 times but shot 47.8% (11-23) on 3 pointers in kicking to the curb the xavier (la) gold diggers 89-82

my buddy cole gentry went for 10 points & 4 assists but the south dakota state jackrabbits (1-3) got elmer fudded 96-89 in moscow (idaho) in another road game

in his first game back after injury, Ivan Rabb was the Ironman playing 30 minutes despite obvious fatigue as he battled the aztecs bigs who doubled him, pushed him, hacked him and harassed him. Ivan fouled out their entire front line in the process.

Yes, after some early contested mid-range forced shots, Ivan had a double-double. He is who we thought he is .... a rebounding machine, elite offensive player around the basket who can go to either hand, and the hardest worker on the floor.

HoopD. Very accurate description of Ivan... really happy (in spite of witnessing the loss in person) to see Ivan come alive in the second half. Also interesting is that the photo shows Malik Pope. That kid can really play. Very athletic (as were most of the Aztecs) and very talented. Too bad we weren't able to foul him out (along with several teammates) earlier in the game...

"obviously i was a little bit rusty and they doubled me but that shouldn't stop me from getting the ball...i think i was kind of disinterested (translation: passive, waiting for the game to come to him), tried to get a feel for the game too much instead of going and demanding the ball like in the second half...it's not all on coach, it's on me, i have to be more aggressive to start games"
-ivan rabb

young ivee, you know what you gotta do, demand the ******* ball & impose your unbreakable will on the game

if you could peer into my soul you would know i honestly think you are undefendable by any college player on planet earth

this is your team, let's do this

when ivan "demand the ball" rabb points his fingers & hand at the sky, it means you gotta lob the ******* basketball to him ok?...it's gotta be passed to him all the way up, so you can stay all the way up & if anybody ask you where you live, point to the berkeley hills, tell them to go all the way up, nothing can stop us

this really isn't that ******* complicated, you really don't need a fueled up uber helicopter to stay all the way up

what a lob pass looks like to t-wall

what a lob pass looks like to young ivee

in the 2nd half young ivee is flashing towards the basket with his fingers/hand pointing upwards

t-wall got the ball & starts working thru his mental progressions:

1) what does this mean?...does ivan love astronomy 10?
2) is ivan pointing at uranus?
3) wait, does shocky want me to lob the ball to ivan?

so t-wall effortlessly lobs the ball to young ivee for a richter scale 6.9 california earthquake & haas pavilion goes bat****

there were several times last nite in eugene that young ivee pointed his fingers/hand upwards & his teammates did not deliver the rock...rabb told guys this as they left the court during timeouts but nobody is apparently listening to ivan & the shockster

ivan, i feel your pain, nobody cares about your problems more than me:headbang...i dunno maybe coach martin & the staff could arrange for the squad to visit today with an american sign language (asl) teacher

Can someone please tell me that Ivan didn't reinjure his foot late in the game yesterday? I am not trying to start any rumours and have no inside information but we were sitting behind Shocky and late in the Game Rabb began noticeably favoring one leg or foot and hobbling around. Am hoping it was just something he tweaked from not having full conditioning and not his toe or foot again....

congrats to 2018 class top 40 & team usa 2018 kenzie forbes on her commitment to the #1 ranked public (#3 overall) university in the world (including folsom)...check out the emotional announcement in the locker room at haas pavillion

kenzie will be an immediate impact player for coach gottlieb...a primary consideration for the folsom high school true student athlete with a 3.8 gpa is the proximity of folsom (like roseville) to berkeley (under 100 miles for both) for her family including her mom sasha, dad sterling (played 10 years for the harlem globetrotters back in the day), her bro/"best friend" mason (4.0 gpa & a serious shroom fro), older bro max & marcus who attends occidental college

the forbes family will be able to participate in their daughter's collegiate experience as a tight unit on gamedays, that's the magic of cal basketball

jordan, does that have any appeal to you (and if so do you want the forbes family to carpool with the brown family ever now & then)?

cal's next opponent this friday nite (do you got your tixs for the 8:00 pm tip off at haas pavillion?) wyoming cowboys (3-1) got square danced 73-65 by the pacific tigers...the cowboys senior guard 6'5" 195 lbs jason mcmanamen scored 23 points on a bizarre 3-14 fields including an abysmal 1-9 3 pointers but a perfect 16-16 on free throws...wyoming is vulnerable in the paint against rabb, kam & the king, let's pound the ball inside baby which is probably a better gameplan that aimlessly passing the ball around the perimeter without penetration & then jacking up off balance jumpers as the 30 second clock expires...young ivee could go all the way up for 30+ points

#7 ranked virginia cavaliers (4-0) are playing championship d in marching the grambling state tigers 90-34 out of the arena & limiting them to 23.1% on field goals & 23.5% on 3 pointers...yeah even there free throw d (50%) was strong too

the corrupt oregon basketball orgnization (3-2) continued to shoot poorly (criminal dana altman does not develop nba talent, tyler dorsey & dylan ennis still got crooked azz shooting) as they barely won in overtime 69-65 over the struggling 3 loss tennessee volunteers...the good news for the racist vols fans is that they finally got the good ol' white boy rick barnes that they can get behind, maybe dumb azz big cocoon could join them for a rally or something

colorado buffaloes (4-1) continued to control the boards +9 as the bufs stampeded shaka smart's #22 ranked texas longhorns 68-54, it really wasn't that close...the cal vs colorado match up is gonna features the pac 12's 2 best rebounding teams...head coach chad boyle don't got good hair but he's doing a good job in boulder despite the graduation of center josh scott

usc trojans (4-0) wrapped up 88-54 the new orleans privateers in front of 923 fans at the galen center, it's true nobody gives a **** about usc basketball

oregon state beavers (2-3) got licked (again) 75-64 by the tulsa hurricanes...too bad the beavs recruiting strategy of recruiting kids that got moms that are sleeping with their coaches isn't really working all that well although gregg gottlieb's kids will be going to college in around a decade from now so there's always hope for the future

lorenzo romar coached up his d as the washington huskies (3-1) finally finally held an opponent under 90 points as they contained a 5 loss long beach state jackrabbits to only making 52.8% on field goals & 58.8% on 3 pointers...great d may win championships but everybody in seattle knows that offensive fireworks will get you on espn's plays of the day

money call, roger on the court with singer, coleman, domingo & kam/king is not the right combination for him, our coaches need to put rmb in lineups that will make him successful

jae kim who did analytics for the basketball program last year is now crunching numbers including the most effective lineups with different scenarios now for the los angeles lakers

analytics matter#

ducky23;842766755 said:

I think Roger is going to be fine, but he needs to be used in the right spots. Meaning, he needs to play with the Starters.

In the 1st H of the SDSU game, Moore was out with foul trouble, bird was out, and rabb didn't start and/or was out with foul trouble as well. So Roger was on the court with a combination of Singer, Coleman and Domingo. That's just not going to work for any of them.

But if Roger is able to play with the starters, I could see him being a very poor man Dennis Rodman. Play defense, hustle, get loose balls get some rebounds, but not be relied on to score at all (unless he has a wide open three - which he will get only if he's on the court with the starters). In that type of role, Roger could be very valuable.

But this basically means Bird must be healthy for this to happen. Cause Roger needs at least three other legit scorers on the court at all times.

oregon ducks (4-2) turned the ball over 17 times but the connecticut huskies didn't bite back 79-69...vance jackson (and his dad) who picked uconn over cal because it's "a pure basketball school" with 7 points on 2-8 3 pointers in 37 minutes for the huskies 4th loss of the season

arizona state sundevils (4-2) took a page out of lorenzo romar's game plan & played zero d in pole dancing the citadel bulldogs 127-110...asu cheerleaders did not shower after the game because they were already late for their 2nd jobs at the cheetah club

princeton tigers (1-2) unselfishly shared the ball for 19 assists but also turned it over 15 times in changing the colors of the lafayette leopards 71-55

cal poly mustangs (3-2) shot a hearst castle luxury 50% (11 of 22) on 3 pointers en route to an impressive 68-64 victory over the northern illinois huskies on the road somewhere in the cold azz midwest...not known if charlie moore sold on ebay his parka yet, cali is not sweater weather

southeastern louisiana lions (4-1, roomie the lion is their mascot) crashed the glass for 47 rebounds in drilling the utep miners 72-56 in el paso...if the bears don't box out against the aggressive & athletic with length lions the bears are gonna get their azzs handed back to them
